I never had a problem with Rayman 3, it retained most of the atmosphere that was Rayman to me. It may have been sillier for the most part, but the environments and music were something beautiful. Even though the story is kind of absurd, I thought it fit really well, and not in a bad way.

Oh check this out:
Ubisoft explain why Rayman Legends is Wii U exclusive

“Well, technically we could to it with SmartGlass [for Xbox 360] and with the Vita being linked to the PlayStation 3. The possibility could be there, but we chose to really focus on Wii U specifically because it has a special toolset, and because everyone that buys it gets what they need to play the game.

We don’t want to have the player dependent on other technology that they have to purchase to make sure they can play the full experience. Here you buy the Wii U system, you buy the game, and you can experience all of the content without extras. And we didn’t want to give somebody half of the experience just for the sake of getting it out on another console. We want the player to get everything that we have to offer them from this game.” - Rayman Legends'level designer. Chris McEntee

This is what I've been saying all along. With the Wii U, you get everything you need in box. With the other platforms, a similar experience is possible, but you have to buy multiple devices. That hurts a bit more in the wallet area!
Well, now I understand why it wouldn't work on Xbox 360 with that "Smartglass" thing, but that doesn't explain why it isn't available on PSVita which directly includes the gimmicks... or even pc!

The environments are excellent and most of the music is very good. The whole 'get instructed to visit a doctor who instructs you to visit another doctor who instructs you to visit yet another doctor' thing which consumes half the game is pretty weak, but apart from that, the story itself is fine. More problematic were the generally terrible dialogue and voice acting.

Brilliant, this means I'll never get the game physically. People are forced to get a Wii U. Crap.

The reason is very convincing, but couldn't agree less with it. I'm all for making it available to those with Smartglass or with the Vita-PS3 connectivity, so if you happen to have those, hey, they don't have to go out and buy a Wii U or find someone else who owns a Wii U to play it. Plus, they completely missed the concept of being able to do this on both the original Wii, PC, 3DS (god forbid) and the Vita on its own, which is why I believe their reasoning a potent lie.

I find it somewhat ironic that the two main comic reliefs are only two most experienced English voice actors by far. I never really liked Gasman as a voice actor, but I'll admit that the timbre of his voice fits Rayman strangely well.

He didn't also do the Rayman 2 gibberish, did he?

It's possible that this impossible with SmartGlass, if I guess well how does it (SmartGlass) work. And God forbid Wii/3DS versions of that artstyle indeed (also Wii version would need glasses for Murphy player or something). You're right in case of reasoning being a probable lie though.

I obviously grew up listening to the Polish R3 Globox voice. When I recently heard the English R3 Globox... Oh well. Contrast is jarring. Gasman surely did R2 dubbings in PS1/2 versions, but I'm not sure about gibberish. Gotta check the credits.

Schmooky, if you want to express disappointment, then that is fine, but please restrain your usage of emoticons.
I have to admit, this is really disappointing, considering Ubi's track record when it comes to availability of Rayman titles, this is a genuine shocker.
Oh well, just as long as this is a one-off, besides, I have other opportunities I can now pursue.

Well, er...
Am I the only one who isn't bothered by RL being exclusive? And NO, this is not because I can afford the Wii U, because I can't afford it. To me, it just... well, it just isn't that much of a disaster. I don't know.

Same here. The Rayman series is going in a very odd direction and I'm not too concerned about whether I'll be along for the ride.

I'll probably play Rayman Legends some day. Probably.

Since Rayman 3. Sadly, fantasy and beauty is no longer a priority, and silliness and toilet humour has been the biggest attractive of the series for non-rayman fans. There are even people who think Rayman Origins is way better than Rayman 2, and yeah, there are actually reviews that praised the voice acting in Rayman 3. I think Rayman was not created to hold a specific fanbase, but to always evolve to please the contemporary gaming audience. I think they're trying to gather a new fanbase, since Rayman's original fanbase has decreased when the Rabbids series started appearing.

Yes, to a certain extent, but Rayman Origins was where it really turned the corner for me.

Honestly, I can't help but laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

seriously though, I wasn't going to buy it anyway, I didn't want another £20 piece of shit addon for origins that wasn't any fun if, like me, you're a loner who didn't have any friends willing to play the game with you.

maybe I'll buy pokemon black 2 instead this year, it'll make up for buying kingdom hearts recoded the day after black/white came out a while back

I was with hopes of later ports coming out, but I guess that this latest text says the contrary. It does disappoints me. I mean, while they want people to have the correct hardware to play the game, it will lead to the same path: if people want to play RL they are forced to spend at least 300€ or the 350€ for Wii U. I start to regret having bought the PS3, but knowing my luck if I didn't buy the console, no RO ports would be made.

Anyway, I also might have the opportunity to play the game, but owning the game itself and playing whenever I want it is much more difficult. Don't take me badly but even if a Rayman game isn't brilliant at all, I always like to play it and feeling the experience. Well, good for people who can afford the Wii U and the game at the same time, I'll be awaiting for their opinions but myself I'll try to content with watching YouTube walkthroughs. Lets expose to spoilers (lets hope for better spoilers than the ones of RO if we can even consider the Reveal spoiler a spoiler).

And I agree, Rayman has been going to a wierd path since Rayman 3, but when I thought things were over with the Rabbids, Rayman Origins gave me a stab, even if the pain took some months to arrive. I believe I'll only recover my entusiasm for real with a new 3D platformer of Rayman, and A DECENT ONE. No Rabbids please, no cheesy humour please, just a normal Rayman.

My brother will be getting a Wii U, which surely means that I'll have access - a lot of it. He keeps everything here, and the amount of time he spends on tour compared to here is probably a good 20 to 1.
