Fourteenth years ago, Pirate-Community was created with the goal of bettering and consolidating a Rayman community in very bad shape. It goes without saying that no one expected such a success, let alone the community to still be around after all this time.

Rayman news are scarce these days, and with the only events last year being the announcement of yet another port (Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition) and that of a new title in a now separate series (Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle), it is safe to say that nothing happened in Rayman's world.

The forum is the first to suffer from such a dearth of news, and the 58,704 messages posted last year, for a total of 1,213,836, are the lowest figure since 2005/2006, setting us back to activity levels from over a decade ago. Thankfully, there's a lot more to it, and last year the forum saw a major update with everything being rewritten from scratch and dozens of new features and various improvements being added. A new staff was also elected, the modding and utilities subforum was created, and lots of new contests and various activities were launched.

Last year also saw RayTunes's biggest update since its creation, with a brand new website, an integrated player, the possibility to embed songs on the forum, and plenty of new tracks, among other things. It was a good year for RayWiki too, which now contains 4,784 articles in seven languages, an improvement of 305 over last year.

So, as you've figured out already, there's still a lot going on around here, and this is isn't going to change anytime soon.

Long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!

As some members may be aware, Photobucket no longer allows for free hosting of images on third party sites. As such, any signatures or other embedded images that were uploaded to Photobucket will not display on the forums, instead a watermark will take their place.

Members are recommended to migrate to another image host, or use RPC's attachment upload where possible.

RayTunes, our Rayman music archive, has just received its biggest upgrade ever! Apart from its new modern design, RayTunes 5.0 allows you to play every song in the collection on the website itself.
However, the content update is even bigger. Three completely new soundtracks (including the educative games) have been added and many soundtracks have received extra tracks. On top of that, every single soundtrack now has new or improved album art, better track names and tags. An MP3 archive is finally available for each one, as well as a FLAC archive for most.
More detailed info about the update can be found here. Enjoy!

Hi all,

I am happy to announce the return of our Rayman-themed contest, Manipulate the Image!

The goal is simple: take the Rayman-related graphic chosen by the contest's previous winner and modify it to make something amusing. You can essentially modify it any way you want, so don't be shy!
The current season is number 61, and the image to manipulate is Helico Ray. Entries can be submitted up to 9 June. The winner will receive Tings and the right to choose the image to be manipulated in Season 62!

Good luck to all!

Hello all!

I'm pleased to announce a brand new Rayman contest named: "Challenge of the Month". This contest is one where you can earn prizes for being the best in a specific challenge from the main series games. All you have to do is follow what the challenge says, and submit your score through a video.

The first challenge is to complete the Swamps of Forgetfulness bonus level as fast as possible. Remember to head on over to the thread once you're ready to submit your score.

Good luck and may the best competitor win!

Due to the heightened interest in modding and reverse-engineering the Rayman games over the last little while and the array of tools now available to the public enabling them to do so with ease, a new Modding & utilities subforum has been opened up! With relevant information, tools and resources organised and given more visibility than ever before, through the power of modding, we look forward to seeing the community bring us new ways of enjoying our favourite titles in the series!

Hi all,

Pixel Mixers, a community of amateur musicians that make covers of their favourite video game tunes, have made a tribute album consisting of 25 cover songs from the original Rayman game called: Harmony. They worked on this album with support from the original composer of the game, Rémi Gazel.

You can learn more about the tribute here.

Re: Rayman 3 scores
What a coincidence, I just started playing with Glitches again (because I met the boundaries of glitchless playing for the most part), so I'm looking forward to some friendly competition ;)

For my HoF-Score, I will try and see how many points I can get without IPGs, but down the line, I'm probably up for using them (even though that would probably be outside of an HoF-entry). I still don't like the concept of IPGs, but in the end, Glitches are Glitches and "unfair" either way. The conclusion I've come to is that ultimately, it comes down to either using no Glitches, or all of them. Friendly competition is what I need to really get me back into Rayman 3, and with you (and for that matter, people like sfn, DTUCC and MountainGoat, too - if they ever decide to get back into the game), I feel like not using IPGs just won't allow for that anymore in the long run. For now, I got BOM to 99.999 and I am currently on CF3 with 68.915 Points. I'll keep my Scores updated in the signature to give you an idea of how close I am to getting you, so you can go for counter-measures if need-to :hehe:
Even though you should probably be safe from me for a while.

I probably won't spend much of my holidays "scoring" either. Appropriate to the season, I'm gonna have a look at SBTC again (I'm back to using Glitches in R3 alright, but there's no way in hell I ever want to play the stupid extended Green-Gem-Combo in SBTC3 again). As always, I'll keep you updated on any findings in any level I might make.

Edit: Speaking of IPGs, while playing CF today I remembered that it was never properly revealed how the IPG-Combo for CF1 goes. May I ask if the Gems in the hallway after the Vortex were included in your Combo? I've always wondered about that because I wasn't yet able to connect these Gems with one of the Hoodblasters in the first room...

Re: Rayman 3 scores
Yo guys, just a quick heads up because unfortunately you won't be hearing too much from me in the next weeks because of exams and Christmas:

I'm going to finish the Combo Manager. Finish meaning adding full functionality to the Combo Database Feature (to make it actually useful and convenient, rather than it being a weird gimmick) because I thought maybe that's the best way to achieve our goal of a complete Video List: to just include that within the tool, that everybody who wants to get into scoring needs anyway. If I talk to Hunchman, we could possibly implement an automatic Update feature for both the Software and the Combos. We'd also be able to split up the work, so certain people only take care of certain levels, and once everybody is finished, we can merge everything into one "Ultimate Rayman 3 Database". It would also offer the possibility to create separate Walkthrough-esque files, that only contain the combos associated with a certain max score.

Because my problem over the next few (many? :( ) weeks will be that I'll probably be able to spend some time in front of the computer, but not necessarily playing video games. So programming and gathering data is the best thing I could do with my spare time right now. I'll try to finish this before the end of the year, but unfortunately I can't promise anything :(

But don't let yourself distract by my somewhat "personal" projects, if you guys would like to create a Video-List right now, we can do that anyway and then just copy all the stuff into the Manager once we're done. If that's the case, I'd volunteer to do FC, CF and BOM.

Also I'm back into the HoF because I felt like it. Possibly prevents me from getting bored of R3 too soon. So, fite me :D

Re: What games are you currently playing?
ok i also just bet sonuck brania

Keane wrote:The boss fights were OK, I didn't find any of them to be particular standouts but there are also weren't any I disliked. The only thing that kind of bothered me is that nearly all of the Act 1 bosses you can easily just spam into and have a single ring bounce back into you while doing it, but at least you can choose to play by the intended rules.
I was very split on the bosses. I liked most of them, my favourite being the physics spider, but then there are a few others like the paper ice ninja bro who are beyond frustrating and the Oil Ocean qbert boss which feels like it wasn't even tested, and they really kind of deprecate the lives system. The levels themselves are easy enough and you'll pretty much never get a game over just playing them. Game overs happen when you get to the shittier bosses, where you end up just dying instantly 2-3 times in a row and the boom, blink and you'll miss it, you have to do the entire zone again. This is a very gay punishment because it's pretty much just wasting your time forcing you to replay the pretty mindless, unchallenging levels just to see if you'll get lucky against the act 2 boss.

Keane wrote:Second issue: Titanic Monarch Zone was one of the most grueling, frustrating things I've ever played and none of the praise I have for the rest of the game applies to it. Navigating the orbs was really boring, having to wait and time each one kills the flow of the game completely. All the enemies were annoying and shittily positioned, a lot of the platforming was really tedious,
Hah weird, this was actually my favourite zone. I had no problem quickly navigating the orbs, which are super satisfying when you can launch from one to the next to the next, and I thought the level design was the most fun and challenging so far. I found the enemy placement to be meaningful. However:

Keane wrote:and I ended up having to redo the whole zone twice because of cheap bullshitty platforms where just being 1 pixel off immediately kills you.
hoely shit yea it's almost impossible to play this section with Super Sonic.

But yeah, super nice game. The first half of the game is mindlessly easy, but it's still ultra enjoyable, and I think some of the later zones have excellent difficulty (they're still not that hard, but give you just the right amount of resistance). I actually think Studiopolis was my least favourite… it was just kinda boring from a gameplay standpoint (I actually even found it visually boring) and it didn't feel very studio-y to me.

Re: Quizz sur les jeux vidéo
L'arbalète de The Evil Within est l'Arbalète Agonie, celle de The Evil Within 2 est l'Arbalète Sentinelle.

Question 11 (bis) :

Bespin
Endor
Geonosis
Hoth
Kamino
Kashyyyk
Naboo
Rhen Var
Tatooine
Yavin 4
