Re: Ray1Editor - Rayman 1 Level Editor
RayCarrot wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 7:24 pm I'm not sure exactly where you modified the file, but it doesn't seem you modified the TexturesOffsetTable array which seems to be the cause of the crash. Since the transparent and opaque tile textures have different lengths the game has an offset table to more quickly be able to get to each tile texture struct. These are relative to the very first tile texture, 0x4C717 in the file you sent. So if the offset is 0x120 then the file offset is 0x4C837.
To get this to work you need to make sure the offset table points to each of the available textures. If a tile texture does not have a corresponding offset in the table then this exception will occur in the editor and the game will read the wrong texture data.
Updating all of these might be a bit time consuming. If you add a new opaque tile texture then that will shift all the transparent ones by its size (since the opaque ones always appear first), so all of their offsets need to be updated. If you add a transparent one it's simpler since then all you'd need is to add a new offset to the table and have it point to the new texture. The table always has 1200 entries, with invalid ones being 0xFFFFFFFF, so if you add a new one all you'd need is to replace one of the invalid ones.

Edit: Also I should note you don't need to manually edit any checksums or the two pointers at the start of the file. Those are all automatically updated by the editor when saving. I didn't get around to implement proper support for texture replacing and such though which is why this part is more complicated.
I realise what happened, there was a bug in my code that meant the offset table was a bit screwed up. So I've managed to get the tiles into the map (both transparent and opaque) and they work fine with the editor like the screenshots below (note the Rayman Education tiles in Rayman 1).

Essentially I'm writing a tool for me to import and export the tiles easily rather than trying to manually change the files.

However, when I go to play this I get an error (also see below), I thought it may have been to do with the checksum again (where I save/reopen it in the editor and it fixes it) but not this time.

Again I attached the level file, but this time it's not as obvious where it falls over.

Re: TTQ: Season 130 - dr_st
Not what I had in mind.

Since the question asked for "game" in singular, I will accept for an answer any game that features such a mechanic; however, I did not find any reference to Raving Rabbids DS having it. If any such evidence is brought forth, though, I am prepared to change my mind, as long as no one gives the answer I am thinking about. :)

Re: Rayman 2 speedrunning
Very good run from Payman, I compared the segments with Darnok_PL's run in the previous post and it's even faster! Of course, the time is longer because you can't skip custscenes on N64...

Re: Rayman: The Dark Maigician's Reign of Terror! *RELEASED*
Well, it looks awful, but it's hilarious. 😂

Re: Rayman ReDesigner
Merci beaucoup d'y avoir joué ! Content que ça t’ait plu ! :)

Re: Petit test du fan-jeu Rayman: The Dark Magician's reign of terror!

:mryellow:

Today marks the sixteenth birthday of Pirate-Community. It is an impressive figure for what started as a small fan community, and this was only made possible thanks to the loyalty of its members and the dedication of its staff during all these years.

Yet there are many more birthdays to come! Despite the complete lack of Rayman news, the community is still strong, and while it may not see as much activity as it used to, it's still the one and only place for Rayman fans to go. In fact, with only 39,217 messages posted during the last twelve months, this is the quiestest year in the history of the forum, which now totals 1,319,591 posts.

RayWiki, however, has made good progress, with a Russian version being created, the first language addition since 2015. With 5,304 articles in 8 languages, it is the world reference when it comes to Rayman, and while this figure gives us an increase of 138 articles from last year, the real figure is actually between 300 and 400 due to an error, now fixed, in the way statistics were previously calculated.

Meanwhile, RayTunes still sees a lot of visits from music enthusiasts all around the world, and is so complete that it is now difficult to think of new additions to it!

Overall, things have been calm, but the community is still here, ready to boom shall Ubisoft decide one day to revive the Rayman series. In the meantime, we will keep working hard on the websites you love, and make sure that their incredible content is always there for you.

Long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!

Info has recently come to light about a cancelled game, derived from a trailer which was intended for release back in 2000. There's a possibility that it may have been the original concept of Rayman 2000, although that's currently unconfirmed.

Rayman is now confirmed as a primary spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While he isn't exactly a fighter like we wanted, his inclusion in the game is a step in the right direction. There's always a possibility that he could one day be added as a fighter via DLC.

It seems that Rayman will be with us in "spirit" in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to a recent data leak, he could be one of 1,297 spirits which will be included in the game. While this has yet to be confirmed by an official source, you can find more info including a screenshot of the spirit here.

Hi guys!

Tonight we've successfully upgraded all of the software used by the forum and wiki as well as moved to a brand new server, with a much more recent configuration! This took a bit of time and lot of work but it seems to have gone smoothly.

While the new version of the forum was well tested and should work just fine, we're pretty much discovering the new version of the wiki at the same time as you and we're well aware of the few cosmetic issues that have appeared following the update. They shouldn't prevent its use and we'll be sure to fix them in the next few days!

Please note that from now on, there will be no need to log in to the forum and wiki separately, as our new single sign-on system will automatically log you in to the wiki if you're authenticated on the forum. We've also extended SSL usage to all of our subdomains, and that's probably about it for noticeable feature changes! While there are major differences under the hood between this version and the previous one, the goal is that it shouldn't be too different from the one you're used to. ;)

Of course, if you notice anything strange please let me know and I'll get to it ASAP.

Today is the fifteenth birthday of Pirate-Community. For over a decade and a half now, we have strived to make this place the best we can for Rayman fans, and while there's always room for improvement, we have a lot to be proud of!

While the past year may have been the emptiest so far in terms of Rayman news, there's still a lot to say about the old games in the series, and in fact the forum saw a significant increase in activity at the beginning of this year. Over the last twelve months, 66,538 messages were posted, leading us to a grand total of 1,280,374. That's 7,834 more than the previous year, and while it's still less than we did eleven years ago in 2006/2007, this was without a record day (taking place this Saturday) and with a relatively recent activity bump, so we have many reasons to be optimistic about next year.

RayWiki, indisputably the number one source of Rayman knowledge, now features 5,166 articles in seven languages, an increase of 382 since last year. That's more than one content article a day, and I'd like to thank our contributors for this amazing work.

RayTunes is still the music behemoth we all love, with over 20 GB of high-quality music that our members now enjoy listening to directly on the forum.

And while no major features have been released lately, we're still working hard on software updates and upcoming improvements.

Thank you for your continued support, long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!
