That's great, thanks for sharing the results of the comparison, I guess we can add this information to the Rayman 2 page (Version differences section).
TBH, not sure it is worth mentioning there. That section is about meaningful gameplay differences between the various console ports. Minor changes in accompanying files between different releases on the same system feel like they are out of scope. Otherwise we could dig up tons more such small points, and end up littering that section with a whole lot of technical mumbo-jumbo.

Well < was able to open the back cover and clean the fan and the area around it. <'s replacement fan finally came today and after installing the computer it's running normally again and not constantly getting really hot. Re: Rayman Fangame: Mr. Dark’s Last Stand.
The toboggan works the same as the mine carts, except there’s no rails to ride on.

Re: Linux
I ended up building LFS again. I really should just start dual booting and having something Debian or Arch based handy for when I'm not in the mood of fixing LFS, instead of impulsively getting rid of it only to want to go back to it again after some time.

Most things are working fine aside from one weird issue I'm having with Steam wanting to be unusual. It won't run any game, but if I decide to change "LD_PRELOAD" in the game launch options, it decides to work again. Even if I just set it to be blank like "LD_PRELOAD="" %command%", the game will work, but I shouldn't have to do this so I'm trying to figure out what's going on. From my talk with Plum as of now, we seem to think it's somehow related to gameoverlayrenderer.so.

Re: Rayman Fangame: Mr. Dark’s Last Stand.
A toboggan, huh? I wonder if that works like the mine cart from DKC1.

Like I've said before, I'm kinda walking blind when it comes to any of the other DKC games...

Elite Piranha wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 7:21 pm It would be surprised if it is actually the full game. Also, I wonder if there is something different in the PDFs of the manuals.
I recently got a copy of this L'oreal Kids Rayman 2 edition. Like everyone suggests, it is the full game. Comparing the CD contents to that of the Rayman 2 that was released as part of the 10th Anniversary Collection, I can mention the following:
  • Newer timestamps on files (February 2002 compared to September 1999), even though most of the files are identical.
  • Included PDF manuals are identical (note that the original retail release did not have digital manuals, because it was usually sold in a big box with a physical booklet included).
  • Newer Acrobat Reader version included (4.05 instead of 3.01). The readme files were changed to reflect the different name of the installer.
  • A 4-byte sequence differs in Helic_30.sna (this is the Foutch boss level), at offset 8880F. I have no idea whether it has any significance - probably none.
  • The Tonic Trouble intro movie (TonicIntro.exe) has been removed.

Re: Rayman Fangame: Mr. Dark’s Last Stand.
Accidentally reposted an animation twice. I’m pretty sure I didn’t show Rayman’s toboggan animation. Yeah, I’m including the toboggan from DKC3! Two are planned, Dashing Through the Snow and Cruising Down the Mountain. Both of these take place in world 3, Everfrost Mountain.
