Now that I think about it, it's true that treating the original Legends as just a goofy dream sequence was the perfect excuse for all the medieval tropes and real world parodies. By giving Retold a serious narrative and grounding it with a new map, it completely canonizes the generic fantasy stuff ...

It's playing fast enough that you don't have to worry about the details, I like it.
