<r>I thanked you for welcoming me here on Discord but I just wanna say thank you again! I’m glad you like my stuff, and I’m amazed I’ve known your partner already from Sonic and Dreamcast forums AND Frontier Psychiatrist reanimated. Small world, haha.<br/>

Re: Azoo's Rayman arts / fiction / game concepts
Thank you! And I’m glad you like the story! And yeah, I love the idea that Polokus traveled all across the universe and from his adventures dreamed up the Glade.
And yes actually, the Gearosaurus Bay is meant to feature both Rayman 2’s robo-people and proto R2’s robo-dinosaurs! The bay would have a ...

Re: Azoo's Rayman arts / fiction / game concepts
<r>Been writing out a design document for an original Rayman sequel! I’ve done this quite a bit over the past few months, but these are ideas I’m pretty into right now, and I’m interested in seeing what you guys think of it.<br/>

Re: Azoo's Rayman arts / fiction / game concepts
I’ve thought a lot about the Phrys and I think I’d like to see that world more expanded upon. Really tall cat elves? Hell yeah.
I think they work best as like a nomadic tribe that moves their kingdom all across the dreamworld, feeling they don’t belong to one single culture, and stay out of people ...

Re: Rayman 2
The PS1 version was definitely cut short thanks to the voice acting; there’s definitely bigger games to come out on that console than that. The trade off feels so pointless and crummy lol, especially when the superior machine (Dreamcast) didn’t even need it to sell itself.

Re: Rayman himself
I feel like looking back on Ancel’s whole career, not just Rayman, that he seemed easy to grow disinterested in his ideas and would start over on his concepts repeatedly. It’s not just Origins/Legends vs 1-3, the major differences between 1-3 are also pretty huge, and so is BGE compared to its ...
Re: Rayman 2
I like the addition of scenery props and objects in Revolution more than anything else it offers honestly. The colors in Revolution are definitely more saturated, and I like them more than the original on some days, less on others haha.

Re: Rayman fan game casting call
Thank you so much!
I’m having a fun time drawing these, though admittedly wish it were a 3D game I could work for, despite that being out of my grasp, lol. Maybe someday.
Game design stuff is as follows for this 2D setup:
Left stick - move (left/right), crouch/crawl (down), aim (up/diagonal)

Re: Rayman fan game casting call
I guess I could cook up a proof of concept to kick something off, though it might need to just be simple animation loops or concept art, before it’d be convincing enough.
I’m thinking of something that plays like 1, except you can wall jump and slide like in Origins. Maybe also mechanics to shoot ...

I love everything you guys are doing here so much. I dunno if I posted that earlier in this thread, but I wanted to say it again even if I did. LOL

It’s true, all of it! I’ll post comparisons of the jingles and intro between versions:
Intro - N64

Again, I just find it much more exciting of an opening track than the one featured in all other versions. I once saw someone compare it more to Rayman 1’s OST, which I kind of see ...

Rayman fan game casting call
Anyone out there on the internets interested in doing a Rayman fangame? I’ve been hankering to brainstorm some ideas with people and make some concept art for it. As y’all have probably seen, I do illustration, design, writing and the occasional animation, and would be looking for people who are ...

Re: Rayman himself
I think the UbiArt games highly resemble 1-3 aesthetically, and I can see much of how the gameplay evolved from 1. The only games other than 1 to have a run button, even.
That said I do agree that its still very different. It focuses itself too much on “speedy platforming” compared to the puzzles ...

Re: Rayman 2
I’m really, REALLY late to the “best or worst version” discussion, but I want to pull a wild card and say Nintendo 64 is always going to be the one for me. And no, it’s not just because I grew up with that version (although that’s part of it).

Hey guys! I’m still around. It’s been a minute!

I LOVE the art direction here, it's fantastic. I also love the Bandana Pirate, such nice usage of strong shapes!
Music is good too, and the gameplay is promising, though I do think it being really zoomed out makes it hard to see the detail of the sprites. Either way, y'all are killing it. Keep it ...
