Rayman Pirate-Community

So, inspired by sites such as "The Colors of Motion", I downloaded some longplays of Rayman 1, 2 and 3 and fed them into a script to spit out a "barcode" of colors. Each line represents the average color of a given frame throughout the game.

I could've sworn there was a trope in cartoons of grasshoppers being pianists, quite possibly due to their wings' similarity to a tailcoat.

Has it ever been discussed why a red lum appears for an extremely brief 0.1 sec when Rayman takes damage? Specifically, why such brevity? Most of the time, you can't even catch it with your eyes, it just pops in and out flat. Almost looks like a bug.

Have these sprites at the bottom left corner of each world's tileset ever been explained?

For Rayman 1: the art. It's super pleasing, consistent, and immersive. Every sprite is pixel-perfect, and the color palettes are exquisite. Especially the PC version, which contains unique art in Moskito's Nest, and the transitional art between Dream Forest and Band Land.

Has anyone tried going up that tube in the Iron Mountains?

I think the PC version has a grille blocking the end you spawn from, but I'm unsure about other versions.

As a kid, I always wished I could jump over the border of levels to discover the rest of Rayman's world. I was unaware of the job of level designers, and I thought for sure, an entire world was waiting to be discovered out there.

I'm not sure if this has ever been documented before, but I once witnessed a bug on the original PC version during the Technical Checkup (Tomb of Ancients) where Clark would not be there, rendering the whole level unfinishable.

It was a particularly unsettling moment as a kid...
