Re: Ray2Get won't Open?
I just fixed a major issue involving the file header; due to a stupid endianness mistake of mine I only discovered slightly too late, ray2get wouldn't even open apm files at all, unless they were generated previously by ray2get. That means a wav->apm->wav process would work, but trying to decode ...

Re: A new update for Ray2Get
Alright everyone, small update: I fixed a minor bug or two (incorrect automatic output file name when using the 'ei' option, no .apm format check); and the script should now work with Python 3 as well.

Re: A new update for Ray2Get
@Droolie: Yes, you're right.
In fact, I noticed this when I was trying to replace the in-game musics with my own, to see if the game could handle 44100Hz audio.
When recording the game's audio, I noticed a DC offset slowly building up on some of my files. I initially thought that it was due to ...

Re: How to achieve better sound quality in Rayman 2 PC – restoring DirectSound by dsoal, and overwriting other sound DLL
Welp... sounds like bad news. I followed your steps and didn't manage to set the game's sample rate to 44100Hz. Even worse, I noticed that there's no anti-aliasing before downsampling, so any 44100Hz audio file will have the upper half of its spectrum folded back into the lower, audible, half.

Alright... I have to admit I didn't start taking the time to experiment what you suggested, because I noticed something wrong with my encoded 44k tracks.
Actually, the DC offset that was slowly building up over time was not at all due to the downsampling... in fact it's my compression tool itself ...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Neat!
You might also check out the [DLL_Adpcm] section in SND_CPA.INI. The only APM drivers that come with R2 are APMmx and APMP5.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a proper 44.1kHz playback with either of those, even with WAVa1 (which, in my opinion, has only an effect on uncompressed .wav files ...

I tried changing the value at the offset you mentioned from 22 56 (22050 in little-endian hex) to 44 AC (44100), unfortunately it didn't change anything. :(

Re: Disney's Donald Duck PK Data.hst
Ages ago I started coding a little ripping tool for Rayman 3 SFX and musics (which also use .hxc, .bnh, Data.hos and Data.hst files). I haven't touched it since, so my memories are quite vague, but from what I remember it would scan the .bnh files, find the file names and their locations (in either ...

Quality of replaced music played-in game are in worse quality than played from FL at the end.

For each of the .partXX.rar file, I get an error message "File cannot open as archive" or even "Not a WinRAR type archive" whenever I try to open, either with 7-Zip (Windows) or the Ubuntu archive manager. I don't have WinRAR installed so I haven't tried.

I'm sorry, you're gonna need to upload the rest of the files. I can't extract anything.
Edit: I would prefer that you upload the separated segments instead of long joined audio files (or otherwise I'm gonna need to split them back anyway).
Also, how did you manage to get these separated segments ...

I haven't looked into .bnm files, so that'll only apply to the music. If it does work, of course.

So here's what I managed to infer so far with a bit of tweaking around (some things might be incorrect):

0x02 2 short number of channels
0x04 4 int sample rate

Re: R3: Music Extraction Discussion Topic
I just dug up my old Ray2Get source code and had a quick look at some of the .apm files: yes, the sample rate is included in the header! Which means it would totally be possible to replace the soundtrack of the game with some custom audio! (Not sure that just any audio would play properly though ...

Re: R3: Music Extraction Discussion Topic
I made this tool nearly 7 years ago and pretty much haven't touched it since, so I don't remember much about the format of the .apm files. As far as I remember there's a header with the initial values and a bunch of other things that my decoder didn't use.

Hang on for a second, I'm reuploading the file...
Edit: Here it is.
Edit 2: which reminds me, I haven't posted the source code for Zeroid (plus there's a buggy version hanging around somewhere).
