Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Okay. Yeah, you're right. It looks like the extra highs on the old rip were probably produced by sample rate conversion or line noise. It seems the original MPX files are just lower quality than what the game states in its code. I can't seem to discern a quality difference between my old rip and the...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Dammit! :pascontent: I don't know what went wrong, but these captures aren't full quality. I just realized while editing that they are capping out at 11kHz. My original rip from '01 shows significantly higher frequencies captured... ARGH. Back to the drawing board for the moment. At least I still ha...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
It's not simply a matter of detecting silence. Some segments have extra audio which continues slightly past where the next segment starts. Joining them after eliminating only silence cannot fix that. It causes a stutter/skip/pop. What I'd like is to find an editor that lets me visually overlay one c...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
And now, I present to you the final "preliminary" rip. All segments are here intact, and I have included a script which truncates them to their original headers' sample-size value. The resulting files will give you near-perfect gapless playback in foobar, etc. Unfortunately for me, I will ...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Nice to hear from you again, Droolie! Actually, combining all the individual segments back into one big MPX works fine, as long as you remove the subsequent segment headers, and provide a long enough looplength (uncompressed sample size) for the first 4 bytes of the file. Regarding the segment recor...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Yeah, I listened to them last night using Foobar and they align pretty well. Original filenames are not actually preserved, but the segments are numbered in the order they exist in the original files, so it plays through properly. There are occasionally clicks between files which will need to be edi...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
First off, Deton, thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you are enjoying my old rip =) I think we are basically all in universal agreement that the Special Edition soundtrack sounds the best. And with that said, I am excited to bring you all some very big news. After many days of hard work experim...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
I've created a script which splits MPX files into their individual segments. It uses snakebite from VGMToolbox. It will create a subfolder named "split" with a whopping total of 1,585 smaller files. I played around with running TT in a VM this morning. Replacing SKI.MPX does work... but wi...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Droolie, Of course you have my permission to use any of the files I've provided. :D I also had that same idea of replacing the ski slope track and going through each and every one of them that way. It would certainly be tedious, but at this point, unless we can get some expert help in decoding those...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
I spent a good chunk of time this morning reading through the thread you speak of, and I have no intentions on repeating history here. Quality, in terms of frequency range, in this instance is a far less controversial matter. The spectrum analysis of my analog line-in DC Rayman 2 rip revealed a clea...

Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Oh, whoops! I should've tested that first. This should work: [192kbps CBR MP3] https://mega.nz/#!8IEBQRgD!0nUxeYo251abLlcLYfMnRGv_D6_Mke0Wv3yRdOyNOMw [Monkey's Audio (High)] https://mega.nz/#!wZlylTBQ!KQoyG5pFgJzZTxKlg2oAOb500qGgx5PYrVgBaw7p1mY Thanks for the explanation about the codec. Re: Tonic Trouble Soundtrack
Update! Droolie extracted and arranged files directly from the game. So there is no line-in distortions and loss, and it is in FLAC. It is much better source for any audio processing in future. Droolie, how did you end up getting this decoded? Last I remember, it seemed there was nobody interested ...

Re: Rayman 2 High Quality (Audio CD - 44kHz) Soundtrack
Okay, cool =) BTW, I was extracting some original game files for a personal DC vs. PS2 quality comparison and realized I was incorrect earlier regarding the DC audio format. My apologies. Also, I scripted some of the file splitting/naming but was wondering if there are any tools already available (f...

Re: Rayman 2 High Quality (Audio CD - 44kHz) Soundtrack
Quickly I'll answer, cos I just leaving. Most of this job is done. Used Droolie's PS2 rip is complete and done. I worked with it's flacs. I have DC segments, I need to arrange them. DC sounds better than PS2 (excluding RR), maybe it's compressed, but less (PS2 has around 200 bitrate). But that woul...

Re: Rayman 2 High Quality (Audio CD - 44kHz) Soundtrack
I haven't checked out the newly remastered files yet, but if I understand correctly you have run the PS2 rip through some enhancement/restoration plug-in? This seems like it could be a good way to bridge the gap in quality between PSX and DC/PS2 versions. My proposal for a near-perfect complete soun...

Re: Rayman 2 High Quality (Audio CD - 44kHz) Soundtrack
Great work deton! I just got around to checking this out, and it really sounds fantastic. Though I have to say, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the idea of remastering the complete soundtrack using multiple sources. Hopefully the transition in quality (not only between songs, but wit...

Re: Rayman 2 Soundtrack in FLAC or WAV?
LOL, I never intended on dropping in here and being called a hero, but I'm definitely glad to help, in the interest of achieving the highest quality Rayman 2 OST possible. The plan sounds great to me :D Remember to substitute PSX tracks when applicable, as I think we are both in agreement that they ...

Re: Rayman 2 Soundtrack in FLAC or WAV?
Your rip is pretty good, but the sad truth about the Dreamcast version is that it's pretty bad quality audio: mono and 11025Hz. Your files are stereo because Rayman 2 for Dreamcast's sound engine plays it as stereo and adds a reverb effect to it. Try listening to your rip: there are no differences ...

Re: Rayman 2 Soundtrack in FLAC or WAV?
Hello everyone. I was tossing around the idea of ripping the Rayman 2: Revolution soundtrack from the PS2 when I came across this site. Just thought I'd let you know the Rayman 2 rip you have up is version 1 of my "DC-analog-out-to-soundcard-line-in" recording (except for the "extras&...
