Re: Your political compass (and other political quizzes)

Screenshot_20201203-113827_Chrome~2.png I sort of skimmed through the 200 questions so I don't think it's totally accurate. Especially the top three axes which I don't have particularly strong opinions on. I might have to go through them again at some point with a little more thought put in and see...

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?

I've gone through a few phases of liking different genres which have all piled on top of each other over the years. I remember when I was younger I would listen to a mish mash of soundtracks from the videogames I played and whatever my family would listen to, which was usually stuff like The Beatles...

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?

That reminds me, I also 100%ed Jack & Daxter. Sometimes I find 100%ing a game satisfying in itself, but it would be nice if games gave you more rewards for putting in the extra effort. I guess some developers are afraid all their extra work will go unnoticed if it's locked behind a challenge tha...

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?

Alright, I'll make a few closing statements. Sorry for misrepresenting your views, I think we just disagree on a few fundamentals so I was making some incorrect assumptions. Also I have a tendancy to go slightly off topic, so in the cases where you said "that wasn't my point", that's proba...

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?

the part where you say why are they allowed not zs is shifting the topic completely. It's about OUR morals. that example you gave goes in direction of tu quo que fallacy or however to write it. I have to disagree with you there. The fact that other animals eat other animals is IMO the crux of the w...

Re: Politics - your views

Most of your criticism appear to be geared towards economic liberalism rather than capitalism, with a strong focus on inheritance, yet another practice that predates capitalism (and economic liberalism!) by millenia and can arguably be considered a wholly separate concept. Of course it's all intert...

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?

Also, a central part of well being morals is the "being" part You can't *be" if you are dead so killing animals on a systematic farm level is just wrong regardless of them being happy before they get numb from medication and get slaughtered. These animals wouldn't "be" if f...

Re: Politics - your views

Just curious, can you elaborate on how this relates to capitalism (which is nothing but the private ownership of the means of production)? Of course the broad topic of capitalism isn't just the concept of ownership of private property/MoP, capitalism as a whole is the system we have today which nat...

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?

Since quote is long I cut that part as you mentioned moral argument on the bases of "nature is good" However, this doesn't seem to be the most popular moral base. It's mostly "well being" that is aimed for. It only makes sense to aim for the well-being in the animals that we far...

Re: Vegetarianism and veganism, an urban trend?

When it comes to the moral side of meat-eating there are a huge number of angles at which you can view the topic and I think none them ultimately have any objectivity. I think appealing to nature has a number of problems, mainly because the popular definition of the word "natural" has beco...

I'm not very well versed in real-world politics, especially American politics, and I'm not so familiar with Biden. But I'm convinced that Trump is a mentalist. I'm sure he envies the power Putin has. Some people are attracted to the idea of having someone who's not a politician as a president but I ...

Re: Movies you just recently watched

My brother said he really enjoyed Tenet and thought the story was insane (in a good way), though I've heard him say similar things about pretty naff movies. Still, I'm curious to see how good it actually is.

Bach - Contrapunctus 1

I'm about halfway through learning this piece. The fingering can get pretty insane, trying to get each voice to sound continuously.

Re: Do you bother to complete a game at 100%?

I can only think of a few titles I've 100 percented, I'm not sure what it is about a game that makes me want to 100% it but I suppose if it feels like a realistic goal and I really enjoy the game I go for it. From memory I know I've 100 percented Rayman 2, Castlevania SotN (actually for this title i...

I didn't exactly watch this recently but I thought the film The Lighthouse was pretty damn good. Some very odd scenes (you know what I'm talking about if you've seen it :fou:) but the acting was pretty amazing. I initially found Robert Pattinson's accent a little distracting, I think because I've ne...
