Re: Rayman 2
Didn't stop Ubisoft from putting the game on the 3DS and IOS.
Re: Rayman 2
Ubisoft only puts new games on Steam as far as I'm aware. Older ones go on Uplay, which R2 is on. If you pre-ordered Origins you got R2 in Steam as well.

Re: Rayman 2
Ah, I see. By the way, anybody check out the First Person mod for the PC version of Rayman 2? There is one person who did a playthrough of the game using it on Youtube, but unfortunately it was a speedrunner so they used glitches to skip a bunch of stuff, and they skipped the optional section of The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire with it on.

Re: Rayman 2
While the PS1 version may be lacking in areas, it does have some neat exclusive content, like the cutscenes with the Guardians, an actual boss for The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, exclusive areas and details like the Barrel Pirates' legs remaining then kneeling and falling down when they are defeated, the Spiders screeching when killed, etc. they should of kept the cutscenes with the Guardians in Revolution.
Re: Rayman 2
I generally dislike the PS1 version, but that mostly comes from playing the slower PAL release. Besides that I think it does a good job adapting the game for the platform. It's also interesting as it uses a lot of early content, cut from the N64 version.
The changes I particularly like are first the new section in Stone & Fire and then the new Prison Ship slide section. Oh and having the playable prototype level at the end is a cool bonus!
I'm however not so found of the guardian's talking tbh as it makes them less mysterious in my eyes. In the original version they were merely creations by Polokus to guard the masks from any intruders.

I'd at least go as far as saying the PS1 version is better than the DS version, but that voice acting isn't the greatest to be honest.

Re: Rayman 2 on Windows 10 x64 Build1909
Today, I took out Rayman2 CD after a long time and found that CD drive could not read it thoroughly on Windows 10 x64 Build1909. SafeDisc retail DRM would not arrow to read the disc.
Now Snagglebee's Rayman2 Remake is the only one method to install the game to Windows10 x64.
Oh what a world !!

Re: Rayman 2
Well it's not the only method, you can use the Rayman Control Panel which can also patch the disc release to get rid of the pirate head error. Or just copy the files manually.
But I'm also curious why it has suddenly stopped working. Early versions of Windows 10 handled it fine...

I only had a look at the video for the first person mod for Rayman 2. It looks... interesting.

Yes, Rayman Control Panel I ran in W10 with Admin right but "Install from disc" did not work for CD not recognized by Windows10.RayCarrot wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2019 9:55 am Well it's not the only method, you can use the Rayman Control Panel which can also patch the disc release to get rid of the pirate head error. OK, I made CD image with Alcohol 120% in Windows XP SP3 32bit that could read the R2 CD in the CD drive, mds,mdf was made.
I mounted the image on Alcohol 120% and verified R2 could be installed in Windows XP SP3.
Now back to Windows 10, I mounted the image file I made with Alcohol 120% , OK windows explorer showed the files this time.
But setup.exe will not work with any compatibility setting.
Now Rayman Control Panel's turn.
It started to install R2 in Windows 10,Good grief !!
But got error shown below.
GRAPHICS2.DAT failed to copy over, which did not occur in Windows XP with Alcohol 120%.
Do you think that mds mdf images made this error only in Windows10 with current update, I don't know ?
The images DID worked in Windows XP SP3 with Alcohol 120%, but not in Windows 10 x64 Build 1909 with Alcohol 120% !

Re: Rayman 2
It certainly makes parts of the game more intense, like the spider chase in the Canopy, as you can't actually see it when climbing on the web as Rayman looks in whatever direction he is moving in, so you can only tell it's right next to you by the noise of it trying to attack you or if you quickly move left (which will probably get you hit and knocked into the pit), and the Mini-Jano battle in The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, as you can't see it coming out from behind the stalagmite when you turn your back to it, so you have to use your ears to determine how close it is, then either quickly turn around and hit it or ricochet shots off the wall at it.
Re: Rayman 2
I'd even expect standing on the plum in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire to be pretty intense, you have to look in the opposite direction to fire and make the plum move.

Re: Rayman 2
Not to mention the Baby Caterpillars, which are a lot harder to deal with without being able to see what's behind you without turning.
Re: Rayman 2
Oh wow yeah, this sounds like enough of a challenge to get a try again.
