RAYMAN IS BACK in 3D in new Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope DLC

Blame Ubisoft for not caring about the Rayman franchise, not letting developers do the projects they want and give them a safe working space. Ubisoft only cares about profit, Rabbids might be a symptom of that, but so is Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon, Far Cry or any other open world franchise. Actually, the Rabbids aren't even profitable any more so they're eventually letting go of that as well.

We need to let go of this notion that the Rabbids ruined Rayman. Yves Guillemot and his incompetence in running Ubisoft as a whole. People really need to look into how Ubisoft is (not) functioning as a company right now and start reading some reports. Instead of blaming fictional characters that don't even make those decisions.

I had read an article, apparently Ubisoft would have cancelled three projects they were supposed to announce/develop because Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope sold well but didn't reach Ubi's expectations (they wanted the game to sell much faster) and the last Just Dance didn't sell as well, to finally focus on their licenses that work the best .... Which they have been doing for a long time now.

Of course, they tried some things, but it didn't generate enough interest, I think about Immortal Fenix Rising in particular. And apart from bringing out the umpteenth Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and others (some of which I find are running out of steam, but that's just me), there's not much in the way of daring and creativity. And it's a pity.

Maybe I'm wrong (tell me, don't worry) but Ubisoft is not the creative company we used to know, it's only focused on their games that they can milk to the end and the few times they try something, if it doesn't work, they don't try anything else for a long time.

Maybe when the third DLC of Mario + Rabbids is released, if it's really great and we all jump on it (in the sense that there are a lot of players who bought the game for Rayman and it helped to rekindle an interest in the old Ubi mascot and show that in the long run the game is a success) maybe Ubisoft will feel more confident to develop a new game with Rayman.

But maybe I'm dreaming too much x)

Yeah well it's unfortunately true. One of the titles that got scrapped was a Splinter Cell VR title, which is, another franchise that hasn't been touched in a long time. There's supposedly a remake coming, but there's been no news for quite some time on that. Another project was probably an Immortals sequel. But that's just a rumor.

Sad thing is, Yves is putting the fault on the developers. The ones making the games and coming up with creative ideas. He's been too focussed on profit instead of fun creative projects that engage people in meaningful ways. Ubisoft is indeed not the creative company that we used to love. And most developers at Ubisoft are actually fed up with leadership and Yves as well, because they're not having the fun they used to.

I'm keeping my hopes up, because before this there was news of the curation staff (they're the ones that ultimately greenlight games) being changed up and them focusing on smaller more meaningful titles. But with the recent news with Yves wanting to focus on their core titles (AC, Far Cry, etc.), I'm not expecting anything.

Cause I saw on twitter , people are like commenting on like ' this must be a teaser to the third DLC ' . Maybe it could be , who knows. And the duck , I am not too sure if it is a reference to like RRR games in the past though? Cause I never touched the first RRR game .

If it's a reference to a Rabbid game, then it's probably just a reference to the Rabbids themselves, not to the upcoming Rayman DLC, but who knows?

Really if the DLC sells well, maybe Ubisoft will start caring again about our limbless hero, but time will tell. We can't know for sure yet anyway..

And also, does anyone wanna see David Gasman do Rayman again for this DLC? Cause I want it to happen ! And not to mention, when the DLC trailer for the Rayman did drop on Ubisoft's channel, they used the Rayman 3 voice clip ! And also not to mention, that David Gasman did do Rabbid Mario, which is accurate italian-american compared to Mario's however , sounds very stereotypical lol. And he also did Captain Orion too !

And also it would be awesome if the orignal francaise VA for Rayman, Manu Garijo would do Rayman again for his role in the DLC !

So I'm not certain of how many people are aware, but these leaks slipped under the radar a few weeks back. An anonymous user posted screenshots of a discussion had with someone who allegedly had some insider info on the Rayman DLC for Sparks of Hope. I will list out everything discussed in the leaks below behind a spoiler for convenient reading, but will also link an imgur album of the original screencaps.

Plot Summary: Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Mario are ejected from the space ship by accident and crashland in the Glade of Dreams (Rayman's planet). Rayman finds the two rabbids and thinks they are hostile. The two rabbids show him they mean no harm as we are thrown into a tutorial on how to play as Rayman through an introductory battle. Murfy arrives at the end of the battle and explains to the rabbids what's going on: A dark force has corrupted the Glade of Dreams and its inhabitants. Evil rabbids, commanded by a mysterious character, are capturing and putting Electoons in cages for unknown purposes. Even weirder, most of Rayman's friends have vanished. It will be up to Rayman, Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach and Murfy to save everyone and restore balance in the Glade of Dreams.

Note: Murfy will be assuming the role of BEEP-O in the DLC. He won't be playable.

The Rayman DLC will bring 1 new character, the rest returning from previous Rayman installments.

Characters to be included in each world are as follows:
World 1 - Ly
World 2 - Globox and Uglette
World 3 - Barbara
World 4 - Rabbid Rayman and Rabbid Globox
World 5 - Rabbid Polokus (The mystery character)

Other characters that may be encountered are as follows:
Betilla
Clark
Teensies
Rabbid Teensies

Again, this is just word of mouth, so I would take this leak lightly, but it is definitely interesting!

(Actually, all I want is for the DLC to have the heart of both games, and maybe a new Rayman Adventure on consoles or a remake of RRR on Switch !)
