< doesn't think <'s ever been around for a major release, if < remembers < disappeared while Legends came out.
<'s organising a trip to Manchester to go to their Uni open day. < can't stand organising trips :(

< didn't think the hype for Legends was all that great, especially not in comparison to Origins

< is the same. < doesn't think our presence bodes well for this purported new game.

< thinks some folks are jumping the gun a little. Don't get < wrong, Michel stating that he wants to make a new title does make < more optimistic for the future of the franchise, but < doesn't expect to see a new one anytime soon. If < read right, Michel stated he wanted to make a new title sometime after WILD and BG&E2, two games which from what <'s seen thus far, don't seem to be too close to release. It's a cause for optimism, but nothing that < finds hypeworthy.

As for going through releases, < joined just before Origins released, and has been around since then. < thinks one of the main reasons why Legend's hype wasn't as high
as Origins was initially was probably because it was a Wii U exclusive. < recalls turning off of Legends until they announced that they were going multiplat. That led to quite the backlash, if < recalls, but <'s glad they did eventually let everyone discover Legends in the end.

And they added the Back to Origins sections to justify the delay, although < supposes the worth of that is debatable.

< remembers the hype was real back when Rayman 4 (working title) was announced, at least on Raymanzone where < was then (< had also just joined RPC around that time, but < doesn't remember that much hype here). When that first screenshot was leaked (and was not allowed to be shared), and the Raymanzone template was suddenly changed to that white Rabbids-themed one, there was even more hype than there was for Origins. People were really hungry for more screenshots and footage, which barely came until some magazines in summer revealed more screenshots and described weird mechanics that started to concern people because it didn't look like a platform game. Some footage later proved that to be true, but it was mentioned in an article somewhere, or at least it was assumed that there were still a lot of platforming levels in the game... right until the game was actually released. :P

< seems to remember the disappointment being largely overshadowed by the fact that there was another Rayman game though -- initially at least.

< Must've not been here earlier to notice the hype for the announcement about a "Rayman 4".
But < can actually imagine how it would've been like on Raymanzone. :o

Hmm, been four years since < went through the Uni open days process, < thought booking was more of an optional thing so you could get some extra stuff, but anyone could simply walk in.

Anyone can walk in to the Uni and look at the stands and stuff but if you want to get into the information talks and a sample lecture like < did you have to be sneaky. You're supposed to have a lanyard so < crouched behind a group of people entering the lecture theatre and got in without being noticed

< is learning to program in C by making programs for <'s Gameboy, so far <'s made a simple paint program that lets you draw and switch colours (more like shades of green) but nothing much else worthy of note.
<'s kind of half given up on C++ for the time being but < intends to pick it up again eventually. < thinks the lack of any tangible results kind of lowered <'s enthusiasm for the whole thing but since < can actually make programs that run on <'s Gameboy with a flash cart < feels a lot more compelled this time :)

Huh, that sounds pretty interesting. < wonders what libraries there are which allow for coding Game Boy games, it sounds like a fun hobby.

There's the free GBDK or Gameboy Development Kit which includes a compiler, assembler and libraries for coding in C. It's pretty fun, especially since <'s childhood dream of making games was originally centred around making a game < could actually play on a Nintendo console so this is a chance to live out that dream

Wonders of modern technology and the work of reverse engineers, hm? < thinks it's great to see that ^'s been able to fulfil ^'s dream, < always loves to see what folks can do with the tools reverse engineers manage to create from their efforts.
