I was one of those pollsters! One of about 250, to be fair, but one nonetheless, so thanksJewish Candy wrote:+ The exit polls were very accurate, well done pollsters

- You talk as though that's a bad thing, actually no; it's always been like that and I hardly see how more SNP seats can make it "worse" unless you mean on the English side of thingsJewish Candy wrote: -- The SNP did incredibly well, which I like, but it means that the sociopolitical divide between Scotland and England is starker and more unfair than ever.

It's not that I don't disagree with this more like confused as to why this comes as any sort of news, as though the relations have always been good, or at least not bad, between the two. The only reason the SNP seem to be "biting hard" into this is only because they're the only party shouting at Westminster to fix the fact that Westminster only gives a shit about Scotland when it cries "Independence".Xenon wrote: the snp's rise in popularity has bitten hard into Anglo-Scottish relations?
If I recall this time round there's more of a push from SNP to make the union fair, as in voices for Scotland (and I won't try and say the others because nah, obviously not, but still) in Parliament. My only issue with the idea of Independence this time around is both sides trying to pull of the same bullshit scare tactics as the last time, which is the only reason why the vote ended up as it did.Jewish Candy wrote: Do you think Scotland will get independence this term then? I'm certain there'll be calls for it. Gonna be a lot of constitutional wrangling with FPTP under scrutiny too.

I don't think it's the animosity or polarisation that's news (except for the Little England bubble), but how shameless it's gonna become now Scotland is an eeeevil buttercup yellow.Serza5 wrote:It's not that I don't disagree with this more like confused as to why this comes as any sort of news, as though the relations have always been good, or at least not bad, between the two.
Yeah, that's what they've been saying, and I believe them for now. If the EU referendum returns an Exit vote though I sense independence will become unavoidable as an issue...Serza5 wrote:If I recall this time round there's more of a push from SNP to make the union fair

Scotland has always been evil though for simply identifying as a rebellious, individual state as opposed to just sucking up to the rest of the union. But yeah I understand where you're getting at with that now, again though it's hardly news more like something you just gotta expect because of how "fair" the union has always been.Jewish Candy wrote:I don't think it's the animosity or polarisation that's news (except for the Little England bubble), but how shameless it's gonna become now Scotland is an eeeevil buttercup yellow.Serza5 wrote:It's not that I don't disagree with this more like confused as to why this comes as any sort of news, as though the relations have always been good, or at least not bad, between the two.
Possibly, although I doubt Scotland at this point has much interest in EU given that the EU was like "Nah" when it came to accepting them as an independent country, basically the only ones who'd want an independent Scotland besides me and the rest of the 45% are the Nordics.Jewish Candy wrote:Yeah, that's what they've been saying, and I believe them for now. - The union ain't ever gonna be fair cos it's unfair by design
