one thing we know for sure is that the game is going to take inspirations from abstract art and surrealism, letting us play with bizarre concepts and silly ideas that would be otherwise impossible to do :fou:

We decided on removing that hyperspeed thing and the crashing into a wall if you go too fast. It looks cool and all, but it's more of a gimmick and will just end up being more of a nuisance to the player. It has been reverted, his speed will be about 60% of what was seen in that video. and if you get to a wall, he won't crash like this. This would actually have been a hindrance in the end.

oh yeah here's the new redesign character sheet

i wanted to give more life to the ubiart design while not outright copying it, so i kinda mixed the rayman 1 design with the modern one

he's also way more expressive than his other designs :mryellow:

It's a bold take on Rayman's appearance, but I really like it. It's a very unique style that fits the overall theme perfectly.

As for the hyperspeed thing, maybe just keep it for a cutscene or something like that? It does look good, even though it's not practical gameplay-wise.

I love the redesign, however I was under the impression that Rayman had that look because he was cursed by something, allowing him to have powers that he normally doesn't have. Similar to Rayman Mini, but instead of being shrunk, Rayman is turned into a weird version of himself that can access hidden dimensions and see creatures that can't be perceived by most beings.

I guess maybe the hyperspeed would work in a cutscene or something yeah, just that and the crashing mechanics would be more annoying to the player if they remained for gameplay really.

I like the appearance of Rayman in this too, Geigergast was pretty unique about it like I mentioned to him before, and this is a good thing.

Yeah this is the one I brought up indeed. It's still early days and there's a lot of work to be done before it's finished, but we'll try get a demo out there at some point first. As of now, we have added the punching mechanics while removing the crashing and hyperspeed ones, they'd be more of a nuisance to the player in the end. I guess once enemies and the HUD are sorted, we'll make another video to show the progress.

Also, thank Geigergast for the art style, and thanks also. :)

Yeah it does seem to be in very early stages, but what you've got is already pretty intriguing!

also yeah Geigergast's art is lovely and you're welcome!

The new artworks also seem pretty nice, I like the concept of Rayman bouncing his fist from the ground to an enemy, could make for some creative level design.

There's a lot more concepts that this, I just chose a few to share. We plan to but them in the game as unlockables with descriptions later too. Also, I just wanted to work on the basic mechanics first before we went too far into it, and once all of that stuff is sorted, it's all down to making music and levels. Once we get to that stage, production should be a walk in the park compared to where we are now. Well, so long as we don't run into crazy glitches. :P

Nice, it reminds me of all the new pirate models that RayLes designed for RaymanBD back in the days. You can see a few of them here, but I remember there were more in her concept-art.

I just want to note that we have decided on the team name "Fat Frog Games". This will make it easier to credit people, and will look cleaner on the RayWiki fan games page. A RayWiki page for the team will be made later, and this will be added to the fan games page as a link instead of being messy with multiple names.

Well Globox is a fat frog and people already keep associating me as a green Globox anyway, so it works. :lol:

The ironic thing is it stemmed from me making a Fat Frog joke and putting Globox onto the alcopop bottle, then someone who didn't like me from the past drama called me the "funny fat frog man". It stuck, and the server even had the name Fat Frogs for a while, then when we wanted to come up with a name, Hayabusa ended up saying it's better to call it something other than "Team Polokurse" in case we ever made anything else after the game.

Anyway, I'll make a page for it later, they're coming up with a logo for it. I also have to do some more work on the game, like getting the enemy AI sorted etc.
