While on the topic of this feedback loop, the latest post by the Rayman Adventures Facebook page actually copied a character description straight from the wiki.

Well, there it is then. Since Ubisoft is basically doing it for commercial reasons, it's kind of not-legally-sound. But I'm sure if we called them on it they'd question the legality of our whole operation, with all the images and music we're hosting.

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Our license does indeed forbid the use of our content for commercial purposes, but given how nice it is of Ubi to allow us to provide the Rayman community with high-quality content, I'll take it as a token of appreciation rather than a ruthless copy of our work.
Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
I was actually one of the people who said at one stage we have no evidence that it's Bzzit in Rayman 1. I never noticed the Bye Bye Bzzit achievement was a thing. I never really played enough of Rayman Classic to notice since touch controls are far from ideal in a game like that.
What about the "Moskito" in Origins.

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Yeah, that was basically the nail in the coffin for me about the whole Bzitt/Moskito thing in Rayman 1. Suddenly there are up to four friendly ones, all named Moskito! Notice that Origins came out when RayWiki was only a few years old, and so the feedback loop hadn't arisen yet!

True, the fact that he was suddenly named Bzzit in Rayman Classic a few years later makes it likely to be a feedback loop. It makes me wonder if we should have assumed it was Bzzit in Origins too then, but then I again, if there's 4 players, there can't be 4 Bzzit's right?

No there can't, so they have to be generic mosquitoes. Not that I think the developers gave it much thought.

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
In my opinion this is more than a possibility!
The purple Moskito is what we call the incorrectly colored Moskito on the Wiki. As for Rayman Origins they must have referred to the original game, and maybe to the wrong character since the name Bzitt is pointed out in the Rayman Classic achievement. I agree though, they must have read the Wiki to make the distinction between Bzzit and Moskito in Rayman Classic, because there's none in Origins.PluMGMK wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 9:41 pmFirstly, there's the list of achievements in Rayman Classic. "Bye bye Bzitt" is the achievement to "Defeat Bzitt in Anguish Lagoon". This despite the fact that for the many years of existence of Rayman 1 prior to this port, there was absolutely no official indication that a character named Bzitt appeared in that game. Although this position was adopted by the wiki, the official line as recently as Rayman Origins seemed to be that the name "Moskito" applied to all mosquitos ridden in 2D games – just look at the level names, like "Hi-Ho Moskito".
That would be quite silly if Ubisoft was attempting to troll us.PluMGMK wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 9:41 pmThe other matter is the existence of the character Shadow Ray. It would not have been hard for someone visiting this site to notice that the Bad/Dark Rayman distinction can be something of a sore point around here, and the confusion caused by Raymésis in Origins and Dark Rayman in Legends would probably also not go unnoticed. So perhaps the developers noted this and created this character to troll us? It's the best explanation I can come up with for why they would do it tbh!
I can imagine the surprise, and that's actually awesome to be honest!PluMGMK wrote: ↑Sat May 19, 2018 9:41 pmIt's not like this sort of thing is unprecedented in this community. L'Histoire de Rayman, although obviously not worked on by Ubisoft themselves, was written with some consultation of the wiki. And it's not like the inclusion of fan material was foolproof – imagine my surprise when I found a screenshot of one of my videos in the book, as an illustration of Rayman Designer, despite the fact that it shows a game hacked six ways till Sunday and so was entirely unsuitable.
Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Well this just happened, apparently Ubisoft are using RayWiki images as artwork in the Jungle Run game on Ubisoft Connect. The plot really thickens...
Here is the image from Ubisoft Connect, showing the artworks: And here are the corresponding RayWiki images:
At first I thought nah, maybe the Globox one was an image they had themselves, since it is artwork for the game as seen below, however, the lighting in this image is completely different, and you can see that his arms in the Ubisoft Connect version are the exact same as the Globox image I assembled for RayWiki.
So basically, it shows how high the RayWiki standards are, and Ubisoft used something I assembled for RayWiki in their game under the Artwork section!

That's weird, I mean they have used that artwork of Globox before, but with a different background:

Maybe someone was not given the files, and in a hurry they had to use images from the internet?

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Yeah I had indeed recreated this from their artwork with the white background since the RayWiki image looked strange having that background, but found it interesting that they used this render instead of their own. It definitely matches and is the same render, as are the others.Elite Piranha wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 9:15 pm That's weird, I mean they have used that artwork of Globox before, but with a different background:

It looks to me as if they just cropped the image here in the link you have shared instead of recreating it, seen by the white on his hands.

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
They probably thought it was original artwork! In any case, congratulations Steo on getting some of your creations included in an actual Rayman game.
Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Thank you! I think it's funny if they took something I did in my spare time as official artwork.

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Apparently Ubisoft recently added Ubisoft Connect challenges to the new Jungle/Fiesta Run releases, and with that each one has an icon. On further inspection though it appears that every single icon is directly copied from RayWiki! Most of these being my own screenshots as well
Some examples:
Rayman Jungle Run
etc.
Rayman Fiesta Run
etc.

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
Looks like the same person has struck again.
Maybe this is the occasion to write about this on the wiki? I don't think either the "rewards" or "challenges" included in the Ubisoft Connect versions are mentioned anywhere. And, speaking of the challenges, should we have articles for them the same way we have articles for achievements? Or should they be grouped together? I'm not really sure why they're different things in the first place.

The day that the junior tech writer at Ubisoft realized that RayWiki was not part of Ubisoft...

Re: Have we some kind of feedback loop with Ubisoft?
No, but I have asked RayCarrot if he knows of some way to extract them. If anyone has the games and wants to share the list here, this would work too!
Back on the topic of feedback loops, it looks like they might be more common than previously thought. For example, an official Nintendo publication called Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia was released with no less then 51 cases of unofficial names from the Super Mario Wiki being reused in it.
Interesting enough, the wiki initially banned their use in their naming guidelines, but, as the names in question started surfacing in other official material, they reconsidered their decision and now allow them when no other official name exists. Sounds familiar?
