Wasn't it concluded at a point that Glute was the name of the bird that we can see locked in the Tower of the Leptys?Master wrote:It's an endless circle, this. Globox. Glute. Globox. Glute.

Re: Globox's species
I kinda find it curious how Globox is a glute and glutes are also referred to as other certain creatures (i forgot which one)

Re: Globox's species
According to the wiki, Globox is not a glute.

Re: Globox's species
This actually strikes me as interesting. First of all no, he's not a glute and I have no idea where Jonster got that idea. Probably because he posted this prior to playing Origins, while just going by Bubble Dreamer's quote on the Wiki.
As others have said though, I think Globox is his own species, hence Baby Globox.
Edit: Removed false info, glute means ass and I should've just read the first post before chiming in.

Re: Globox's species
"The one and only Globox! Biggest glute in the Glade!"
When people saw this sentence, they thought that it was an indisputable piece of evidence that Globox is a Glute, like the other members of his species. That's why this word is present on RayWiki, and that many people use it now.
But Glute is not the name of Globox's species.
What allows me to tell this? What we can see in the French version of Rayman Orgins. And too what we can heard in the French version of Rayman 3:Hoodlum Havoc.
Let me explain.
Here's the sentence that we can read in the French version of Rayman Origins, when you pull on the beard of Polokus.
"Voilà Globox, le seul et l'unique ! Le plus gros popotin de la Croisée !".
The sentence has the same meaning in the English version and the French version.
But what is popotin? It's a French word. It's a colloquial word, usually use by children, to refer to... the behind, the buttock...
I havn't palyed the French version (nor know a lick of French) but this looks legit.
Polokus was calling him a butt.
Re: Globox's species
Butt is a much better word for it. I was thinking idiot at first, but that really didn't fit and I couldn't actually think of a better word, though I knew he was using the word "glute" as an insult.
Globox is most certainly not a glute.

Re: Globox's species
Not sure why this is even being discussed, Jonster's post was made on record day and we all know he didn't read a single message in this topic before replying.
He's gonna have to live with that, but you don't! Spare yourself a lifelong, crushing feeling of guilt, read a topic before replying.

Re: Globox's species
I did just find the whole Globox thing interesting in general and I wanted to share my thoughts, but I know what you mean. My reply did just fixate on the whole glute thing.
Great advice as usual.

Re: Globox's species
I don't think they ever even referred to Globox as a glute in Rayman 3, now that I think about it, since even though I posted it without much thought it was one of the things on my mind since I always thought the "glute" the hostess referred to was Globox in HH given the cutscene that followed afterwards, especially when I read that quote. What you said is logical though, and if I looked back at the quote from Origins (which I've played now ), I think it's more likely that it refers to "fool" , which is ok given the nature of Origins (I know you said that too), so I agree in general with what everyone's saying, that he's just his own species. I just want to give my ACTUAL 2 cents here, because the topic is pretty interesting.

Re: Globox's species
Well after reading through it, there are some interesting replies and I guess it no longer needs discussion. Globox is just great though, so I couldn't help but share my insight.
I still wonder about Plum's question from 4 years ago, if anyone ever ripped the model and checked the polycount.

Re: Globox's species
This pretty much sums it up. It's quite interesting however how this misconception of Globox being a glute came to be so widespread that it took a fair amount of time and research to finally dismiss it.
Re: Globox's species
I can't help but wonder why people actually thought that. Even with Polokus (aka Bubble Dreamer) saying it, it should have been obvious that it was a joke. People just need to play Rayman 3 and they'll realise how obvious that is.

Re: Globox's species
How is it a joke? The sentence couldn't be more literal.
Re: Globox's species
I mean the whole glute thing was basically a joke in Rayman 3, so that's what calling him "biggest glute in the Glade" would've been based on. I should've worded that better and said it was "based on" a joke.

Re: Globox's species
As pointed out in the first post in this topic, it's probably not a reference to the bird from Rayman 3 but to Globox's butt instead.
Re: Globox's species
Well I guess either way works, we know he's not a glute and that's all that matters.
I don't want to debate over it, what you said makes sense.

That's why it's best not to pull a Jonster and read topics before replying.
Re: Globox's species
I glad to have only made that mistake once, though it still made me look pretty silly nonetheless.
EDIT: I only started playing all of these games last year, so I'm still learning some trivia here and there. Using my glasses for reading as intended could help my cause, though we can't all understand French to read "L'Histoire de Rayman" and it's not allowed to be translated.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's ever going to get an official translation!
