That could just be the French name for it.

And I didn't see it called that in the R3 manual...

Yet another localisation incoherence, as both names were translated from French (La Croisée des Rêves).

I really think the page should be 'The Crossroads of Dreams', not 'The Glade of Dreams', but we're so used to the mistranslated name that changing it would be too much trouble.

Huh? I thought Crossroads of Dreams was the mistranslated name? I'm sure Glade of Dreams is the real English name?

No, the original French name was "The Crossroads of Dreams", which was changed to "Glade" during the English localisation. Then they changed it back for the English version of Rayman 3.

Not in the Rayman 3 manual.... :pfff:

Another question: why is the Bog of Murk also known as 'the Umber Swamp'? What does Umber have to do with it?

It certainly says so in mine. Does any of this ring a bell?:
The Crossroads of Dreams was a place of heavenly bliss
where calm, happiness and the joys of life seemed to reign
forever. Some of the inhabitants even began to feel that the
hours and days passed a little too slowly. Then, one day, a red
Lum transformed himself into a cantankerous little ball of fluff.
His name was André and he wanted to conquer the world. To
this end, André turned the other red Lums into black Lums,
then they all swarmed off to steal the animals’ hair and weave
costumes for themselves. Thus was born the army
of Hoodlums – raring to spread their mischief and idiocy
throughout the Crossroads. No-one could put a stop to them!
So guess who had to interrupt his siesta to go and sort
things out? (I’ll give you a clue: the answer’s on the cover
of this manual.)

That's a good question. 'The Umber Swamp' is an old beta name, and it appeared on some official maps and press releases, things like that. Umber may have been planned to appear in it or something, or maybe the name was just a continuity nod.

No. N Sanity Island was the first island in Crash Bandicoot 1. Crash lived there up until Crash of the Titans, where they decided to move his home to Wumpa Island which was the second island in Crash 1. It didn't have a name before CotT and people just called it 2nd Island.

Spiraldoor, I have the PAL Platinum PS2 version of the game and the story paragraph is all the exact same, EXCEPT it says "Rayman's world" instead of "The Crossroads of Dreams". :?:

That's kind of strange. My copy is a PAL Gamecube one, and it says 'Crossroads of Dreams'. So does the manual for the PC version.

Creepy, I have the exact same version.

And, Spiral, it does say 'Rayman's world.' It also says that in Rayman 1.

Whatever those particular games say, the world is obviously not named after a person who wasn't even there in the beginning.

That's hardly relevant, considering the fact that the term “Rayman's world” is always used from the perspective of an outsider.
