Instructions
All in-game text in Rayman 2 is stored in the Fix.sna file, located under "Rayman 2\Data\World\Levels". Each of the above translations contains a modded Fix.sna file which replaces one of the existing languages with the new translated ones. To use the above Fix.sna files, simply replace it with the existing one. The same goes for the modded Textures.cnt file which may apply for some translations, depending on if the game contains the font for certain characters. Remember to always keep a backup of the original files before replacing them! If you've lost them by mistake, you can re-download them below.

I was wondering if the text font could be altered in order to create the graphic signals that do not exist in the game. The thing is that I would need 4 of them.

Also, Carrot. You swapped the links. ;)

Can someone tell me how do I open the texture file?

You can edit the textures using this tutorial here: viewtopic.php?t=12592 That's basically what I had to do to get the Swedish letter Å in the game.
And thanks, I fixed the links! :)

Will have a look!

EDIT: Also, you should update my link because there was a spelling mistake in the intro cinematic that I never noticed it during the tests.

I just prepared a 1.3 version and lets hope no more edits are necessary for a while. It gives support to portuguese letters and fixes different bugs.

Ah, I'm glad this thread has been created! I wonder if it'll encourage people to make more translations now, even if the tool can apparently be quite difficult to deal with. (Somehow I didn't really have any problems myself, maybe another advantage to using Linux! :P)
Sometimes I consider translating it into dead languages just for fun, but I guess it wouldn't be worth my time. :fou:

I think MixerX's Slovakian translation should be added to this list. Here's the link to the mod, it's an installer, but I think it should be re-uploaded here with just the files that were changed: http://www.lokalizacie.sk/preklady/32-r ... at-escape/

Re: Rayman 2 Translations (Text modding)

I have something very special to share today. I found a Russian translation of Rayman 2 that was created by a piracy group called Uncle Risech and was published without a license from Ubisoft by another piracy group called City. The translation is okay, it translates most of the text into Russian aside from a few words used in action like "Go!". The weird thing about this translation though is that they actually dubbed over the very few English dialogue that is spoken outside of Raymanian like when the cages say "help" or when Rayman says "Yeah!" but to be honest, I wouldn't recommend it using them because the voices sound out of place and weird compared to the original English dialogue, I laughed when I heard them. :P
Here's the Textures.cnt:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vya0u6v95 ... s.cnt/file
Here's the Fix.sna:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/vkqs80ik8 ... x.sna/file
And here's the weird voice clips:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1nv1uump4 ... es.7z/file

Also, something else I want to share, but is not related to Rayman 2, is a Russian translation of Tonic Trouble. It was translated and published without a license from Ubisoft by piracy group City. The translation is well, not very good, since Tonic Trouble uses 3D UI text, some of the Russian letters have broken polygons and subtitles are disabled and just show an empty blue box whenever a character speaks. However, what really surprised me about this translation is that the game is completely dubbed in Russian and it's actually somewhat decent, even the Intro video is dubbed over in Russian. FYI, If you want to revert the broken Russian 3D UI back to English but with the Russian dub and the English subtitles still intact, just delete the game.dsb file.

Here's all the files I found that were changed:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/zfwd3bdjr ... es.7z/file

Now that I think about it, how did these Russians manage to edit Tonic Trouble's text files? As far as I know there isn't any way to edit TT's text because none of the text editing tools for Rayman 2 work with Tonic Trouble, and also these translations came out around 1999-2000, so there weren't any modding tools for Rayman 2 or Tonic Trouble back then either as far as I know. :pardon:

Clearly those Russians are about 20 years ahead of us. :mefiant: If they replaced the voices, does that mean it's theoretically possible to dub the entire game in something other than Raymanian? :o

Edit: Of course not, since Raymanian is just the same handful of voice files repeated for each character. Never mind...

Of course they are, they've been Russian all along, while the rest of us were taking our time.

Sorry, I had to do it.

I dug around more and found a Russian translation of Rayman M PC, again translated and published by piracy group City without license. This time though, they seem to have improved because the translation is pretty good, it actually looks and feels like an official localization. They translated all of the text and left the audio alone just like all the other Rayman M localizations did. Here's all the files they changed, I made a slight adjustment to this and moved the DX8_Detect_RM.ini to the DX8_LOC folder and renamed it to DX8_English.ini so that when you open up the setup executable the text will be displayed in Russian instead of English since this translation goes over the English version:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9ryzpqxtu ... es.7z/file

Also, I found out there's another Rayman 2 Russian translation, it's on zoneofgames.ru, a well known site that hosts Russian translations for many games, but I tried it out and it actually seemed worse than the other Russian translation because the the font looks worse and some of the UI text is blanked out, idk about the translation quality though since I don't speak Russian, I'm just interested in finding rare translations!

Oh and before you ask, starting with Rayman 3 Ubisoft finally started releasing translated Rayman games in Russia, so there are no more unofficial translations after Rayman M.

I'd imagine Irish, Swedish, Portuguese, and Slovakian people do. :P

It was implemented into Rayman Control Panel too.

So I've just started making the hungarian translation of the game (wanted to do it for a long time, but only now do I have the time and the stuff I need for it), and I kinda have a question. So, in hungarian we have some special characters, like á,é,í,ó,ú,ö,ü,ő,ű.... actually I guess that's all. Now the thing is, most of these characters I've found in the games textures, so I guess I don't have to do much texture editing, however, when I use these characters in the translation, they don't show up in-game. Like, they are blank spaces between the regular characters. What did I do wrong? I saw "ö" showing up in the swedish translation, which makes be believe it shouldn't be impossible to use them. Is there like a special character code I need to use in the text file instead of just the letter, or something else is the problem?
(Example: "new game" in hungarian is "új játék", but if I type that into the text file, it shows up in-game as " j j t k")

Do you have the full decoded text file? You should look at the Spanish and German sections to see how the acute accents and umlauts are written. I think you're out of luck with the long umlauts though. Did you already add those characters to the file? Maybe they messed up the encoding…
