GG for the new record, Darnok! You might have wasted 30 seconds, but you still saved almost a minute compared to your previous run and you reclaimed the first place, and that's really cool.
A new run has just been validated on speedrun.com!

You're on a roll, Darnok! Now that's over a minute and a half faster than the previous record (not counting the one you held for a day or two before beating it again ), congrats.

Well, a blind race means that people are running a game that they don't know (or they haven't at least practiced speedrun strategies before). There were apparently many Rayman 1 gamers who are "bad" at Rayman 2.
Yes As I find other categories "dead" at the moment - too hard to me to realisticly compete them, I came on idea of "returning to the roots". It seems that there are also more gamers interested in this kind of movemement-focused speedrun.
I'm definitely one of those people, so I'm thrilled to hear that you'll be playing more glitchless runs. I look forward to the next record now, where do you think are the biggest potential time saves?
Well, the glitchless run I made was my only attempt ever - and probably contained mistakes. Also I was not going for some skips, which are still possible/allowed in glitchless - mostly based on damage boost or movement mechanics. Getting sub 1h30m would look like a nice goal to me, but I have no clue, if it is realistic - glitchless is a baby category though.
Hmm, I have started a research for lum route and allowed skips already (actually even glitchless has some skips!) - without even watching my old run, because it was a poor attempt, without preparation, not taken serious.
By 'glitchless skips' I have meant mostly skips related to tricks, which are not bugs - for example there are places where you can apply damage boosts (from enemies or their bullets) - this enables some skips in Bayou, Canopy and Stone & Fire. We also allow weird movement mechanics like backward jumping - so we can make Axel skip. Also a screenshot lag, which makes the range of bullets longer, is also allowed (it is not considered a major glitch) - so you can make a pole skip in Canopy. Maybe we find more stuff in the future.
