Wasn't he a famed author who ended up with Dementia in his later life? He's got quite the reputation if memory serves.

EDIT: Got confused, it was Alzheimer's. He was very public about his fight against it, confusion was due to me seeing him in an advert for the Dementia Friends initiative.

I never heared about him when he was alive but he seemed like a great person. May he rest in peace.

Pratchett has died, has he? Mmm, we've covered some of his books in English class. Way too early :/

Yeah, it's a shame. There was an interesting piece on the news about him donating money to a church despite having atheist views himself, in his later years...

I know right? Kids in high school are getting iPads to replace those heavy textbooks. That's so unfair.

They tried that in France one year : the region PACA gave a laptop to every 14 year-old. They stopped the experiment after one year, though. Can't figure out why.

My old high school did that, rather foolish move. But this is a microcomputer, it's not built for dossing on, but to actually be programmed.

Back in my day everyone's mums had to get tokens from supermarkets in order to land the school with a big fat acorn computer. Nowadays as an adult I hardly get asked if I'm collecting for schools. The 2010's are crazy.

I remember the days of one boxy compaq per classroom... right at the end these smart board things came in, no idea if they're used much now.
My mum still gets offered those vouchers when she goes shopping though, so she takes them and gives them to local primary school mums.

No idea what computers we had in primary school, but I remember getting a pass to use it at lunch, and playing the online scooby doo games, and they were pretty top.

I can't remember much about the computers in Primary, though ICT was my favourite lesson. I did remember me getting awed over a flatscreen LCD, I had only seen typical boxy CRT displays at that point.

It wasn't until secondary that I encountered flat LCD monitors in the wild.

Hmm, by secondary, LCDs were widespread for me.

I know, they're still popular with some, I'm merely relaying my childhood experience.
