Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Okay, I am getting desperate! I've looked online for about a month now for a fix but found nothing.
I believe I have shadow issues and not texture issues.
First off: My computer specs
[Laptop]
Intel core i7
Nvidia Geforce 860m
Windows 8.1 64-bit
At some parts of some stages (especially Land of the Livid Dead, pretty much 80% of the stage is black) there are black spots. I first thought there were missing textures but as I played through the games I noticed that sometimes the black spots would go away and it would look normal, but as soon as I moved away from that specific spot the texture returned to black.
I've tried everything.
TnL=0
Static Shadows=1 and I've also tried 0
Dynamic Shadows=1 and I've also tried 0
I'm running Rayman3 in Windows 7 compability mode, I've also tried XP.
I'm running Rayman3 as an administrator.
Running Rayman3 with my nividia card instead of my intel card. In the nvidia control panel I've turned off all the advacned stuff (Anti-Aliasing, v-sync etc..)
I am at a loss. Any help is appreciated! :3

Yeah right.

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Can you provide a screenshot of the black spots?
Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
I have the same issue, it is because of the x64 processor arch
Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
So there's absolutely nothing I can do to fix it? :cincognito wrote:I have the same issue, it is because of the x64 processor arch
We need Rayman 3 HD.
Thanks for the answer!

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
To be fair, Rayman 3 HD has its share of graphical glitches too.

True. But still.PluMGMK wrote:To be fair, Rayman 3 HD has its share of graphical glitches too.

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
in file ubi.ini in line tnl you should change value from 1 to 0 . it made my rayman 3 work on windows 7 64 bit system . the file you will find in c:\windows\ubisoft\ubi.ini

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
I don't think having a 64 bit processor would be an issue, mine is also a 64 bit processor, and it runs perfectly fine.incognito wrote:I have the same issue, it is because of the x64 processor arch
There's another ubi.ini file in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\Ubisoft. Try seeing if you can modify its values as well.
As for the other ubi.ini (in C:\Windows\Ubisoft) file, did you run Notepad (or whatever program you used to edit it) with administrator rights? I've had the file refuse to save if I tried editing it without admin rights.

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Ah dude! I already had this problem when I tried to edit the resolution of Rayman 3 (for Full HD).Master wrote:As for the other ubi.ini (in C:\Windows\Ubisoft) file, did you run Notepad (or whatever program you used to edit it) with administrator rights? I made a copy of the file on my desk for editing edit, after that I moved this file on the right folder and it was running perfectly in 1920 x 1080 (Full HD)
Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Thank you for trying to help but I wrote in my post that I've already tried that. c:raymanik01 wrote:in file ubi.ini in line tnl you should change value from 1 to 0 . it made my rayman 3 work on windows 7 64 bit system . the file you will find in c:\windows\ubisoft\ubi.ini
Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Yep! I did. I also edited that other ubi.ini file but it sadly didn't work. Thanks anyway! :3Master wrote:incognito wrote: As for the other ubi.ini (in C:\Windows\Ubisoft) file, did you run Notepad (or whatever program you used to edit it) with administrator rights? Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Have you tried disabling Transform & Lighting? That's known to cause a lot of geometry to not render correctly on some graphics chips.

i said about it
Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
This isn't a TnL problem. With TnL, certain textures refuse to render. This looks like it is rendering shadows where it shouldn't, which is a bug I unfortunately don't know how to fix.

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
My bad, I performed a quick skim.raymanik01 wrote:i said about it
To elaborate on the bugged shadows idea, do they appear depending on where Rayman is, or where the camera is?
Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
I believe it has someting to do with the camera position. Sometimes when I go into Look Mode (First Person) the black spots dissapears. But as soon as I get out of look mode they come back.Adsolution wrote:My bad, I performed a quick skim.raymanik01 wrote:i said about it

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
Yo. I found the way to fix it, ther is a file also named "ubi.ini" in the path C:/Windows/Ubi Soft.
TNL disabled and now tha game is running.

Re: Rayman 3 Shadow/Texture Issues
OP already states that the TnL trick isn't fixing the issue.
From what I can tell, you've used both your Nvidia and Intel GPUs? Have you tried another copy of R3?

I own the GOG version. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it twice.Master wrote:OP already states that the TnL trick isn't fixing the issue.

I really don't want to admit this but at one point I got so desperate that I actually downloaded a pirated verison of the game to see if it would be any different. Same issues.
