Do I only think that game's graphics has been downgraded after release?
Even though all fotages are from PSX version, they have much better colors and much better textures. Try to imagine how Rayman 2 would look released today.

It has the PS1 style lums though... maybe those were used earlier on?

Which video do you mean?

Edit: Saw it now and I think it may have been an early design for the lums

Wow, these gameplay footage is awesome! I once saw the early violet Lums and early cages in another R2 Beta video. And the beach around 2:20 is the same like in one of the early R2 trailers, showing how Rayman went from 2D to 3D.

Remember how a long time ago we were discussing the sanctuaries in the game, and it was put forth that they may have originally coincided with the classical elements (Water, Fire, Earth and Air)? Well there's now more evidence to suggest that was the case. In the demo version of the game, text has been located identifying the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava as "The Sanctuary of Rock and Stone ", and the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire as "The Sanctuary of Lava and Fire". This clearly sets aside one sanctuary for fire, and one for earth, with The Sanctuary of Water and Ice already existing for the water element. All that leaves out is Air (which is half-represented in Revolution with Grolem).

Can someone tell me, what are the differences in the different version of the games? I've played mainly with the PC version, and tried out the Dreamcast version as well, and there was that secret Globox village, and the "choose a level" map was also different. But does any of the versions have something, that makes it much more better than the others? Maybe new locations where the story takes place, or new skills?

To make it simple this is how it is:

PC / N64 - Original versions. Music has worse quality in N64 version
Dreamcast - Much like PC though with widescreen option, new level selection, extra mini-games, glob crystals to find and Globox village
PS1 - A lot less content overall, some exclusive areas, some different cutscenes, voice acting and a bonus 2D prototype level
PS2 (Revolution) - Added hub worlds, added music, added bossed, added cutscenes, added powers and added minigames
DS - Port of N64 version with some issues and worse graphics
3DS - Port of Dreamcast version without the minigames and Globox village and with the 1000th lum being glitched and of course with 3D support
iOS - Port of Dreamcast version without the minigames and Globox village

So most versions are similar except for the PS1 and PS2 versions.

If you've played the PC and DC version and want one with more content the PS2 version is the one you should choose :)

Thanks for the fast answer, I'll surely try it out as soon as I find good settings for the emulator I use, because most of the time it laggs at cutscenes (tried it in other games, not sure how Rayman would work on it) :D

If you're talking about Revolution, see Rayman emulation thread, I gave some configs there.

I am doing some research for a schoolwork in which involves Leonardo Da Vinci's life and theories and I came across with this concept he did of a military tank:

I do believe Ubisoft took advantage of this as an inspiration to create Spyglass' Biditank:

They are very similar!

I definitely see resemblance. Perhaps we should ask for official confirmation next time Ancel does a livestream.

Where does the term "Hunchman" come from? After taking a look at some old artworks from my early childhood, It seems that I had knowledge of it as a kid, and it redirects to Henchman 800 on the wiki. But I have no idea where the word actually originates. Somewhere in Rayman Arena maybe?

Given that they also call Razorbeard "Razor", I can't tell if it's a misspelling or an intentional nickname of sorts.

Hunchman is a typo done in the Rayman M/Arena spin-off as the character is always refered as Henchman, even in-game and in other titles.

As for Razor it is probably a nickname or a less formal way to name him. I sometimes call him like that too to keep it short.

wait a second, that sequence starting with ray respawning on a waterslope and dropping into fairygladesque environment

i distinctly remember playing that part but was never sure if it's a fake childhood memory or not since it's not present in pc version. was that level retained in any port of R2? i'd appreciate helping me solve this little mystery, if it's indeed dev build only then i'll explain how i managed to play it - not now though, it's like noon here so i'm hitting the bed

also hey all, it's been a while
