Re: Crash Bandicoot
Just watched through it. I think he did a great job at explaining exactly why fans of the series are so mixed/divided on everything post PS1 games.
The PS1 games had a unique charm to them that the later games just couldn't emulate. And it makes me all the more curious how Vicarious Visions plans to emulate the feel. I think these remakes are the best approach. In fact? I think this is the best possible approach they could've taken instead of a new Crash game. Why? The remakes will give Vicarious Visions the foundation that Crash was built upon as a reference for if they do make a new game. If they succeed with this, we could potentially have new Crash games similar to the older PS1 titles.

It's shame game developers are focused on gamers and cross-over needs nowadays.

What else should developers focus on if not gamers? Its their main target audience.gamerz31w wrote:It's shame game developers are focused on gamers and cross-over needs nowadays.

They should focus on me, I'm the most important opinion.OCG wrote:What else should developers focus on if not gamers? Its their main target audience.gamerz31w wrote:It's shame game developers are focused on gamers and cross-over needs nowadays.
...Anyways, I'm actually really excited for that HD collection thing they mentioned at e3, I think it'll be the first Crash's I go and play.
Re: Crash Bandicoot
Playing the first Crash on PS3, don't really like the controls.
Re: Crash Bandicoot
Ah yes, first one was D-Pad only and felt a bit weird to those who are used to Analog stick controls for later titles.Bradandez wrote:Playing the first Crash on PS3, don't really like the controls.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Cortex will also be a Skylander:

It appears they've gone with his ND era design, and updated it. Looks pretty nice, but his Twinsanity design remains my favourite. Weird how Crash seems to be based on his Twinsanity era design though, without the visible lips and darker coloured mohawk.
Might not look like his Twinsanity incarnation, but it sounds like his VA:

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Hmm, not bad. If only they had treated Spyro this way in his Skylanders debut.
Re: Crash Bandicoot
The level design (like every skylanders game so far) seems to be a little bit underwhelming but I sure do love the design of the figure.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
I agree that the level isn't very interesting, but it does fit the Crash Bandicoot aesthetic pretty well. Don't like how they turned the villagers into surfer stereotypes, I preferred the tribal portrayal.

THEY GOT LEX BACK TO THE VOICE! YES! I'M DEFINITELY BUYING THIS!

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Okay that's pretty cool, but when I read "Banjo" my mind jumped somewhere completely different and now I'm disappointed.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Eh, I did for a second there, but then I remembered that Banjo's MS's property, while Crash is the result of a Sony-Activision deal.
EDIT:
More footage: Have to say, the level looks much more Crash Bandicoot like here.

I'm definitely picking this up!
Also, look who else appears in this.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
Well, it's out now, so here's the whole thing:
Looks pretty nice overall, but I can't stand Crash's Titans-era voice, I've always preferred his more quiet and occasional "whoas" as opposed to the constant gibberish.
Re: Crash Bandicoot
IS THAT AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT I HEAR!?
If so that's pretty fucking hilarious.

Re: Crash Bandicoot
On the one hand, it's nice to see Crash looking and behaving more reserved as opposed to the overt wackiness of the Titans series. On the other hand, he talked, which is eh...not a deal breaker, but it's...odd.
