Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I am gonna note that the game does have a few problems, like how there's ever rarely any purple coins (Probably from how I played it). I can barely find any of the purple coins in the moon kingdom.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I like how hard it is to find the purple coins, it makes you really have to think outside the box when it comes to exploring. I don't think it's in any way unfair for not everyone to be able to easily 100% a game.
I'm also more than okay with the easy difficulty of the story missions, because there aren't many, and I feel that they're perfectly suited to a a kiddo who, if struggling with the main game, probably wouldn't be as interested in doing the other stuff.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Odyssey treats difficulty much better than Nintendo's other recent efforts to ease things up for kids, I really don't like the idea of just giving kids the option to skip a level or get some super ultra power-up because it just seems so unsatisfying to not give them a sense of accomplishment and instill the idea that some sections might just be beyond their capability. And it's not like 3D World had some amazing art direction to make up for it either.
Odyssey seems like it bypasses the frustration they're obviously wanting to avoid while still making kids feel like they've genuinely won and earned their rewards. And I'm fine with playing an easy game as long as you have a fun world to explore, the controls are satisfying, the mechanics are clever, the art is good, etc.

Zeld side topic:
Zelda in general seemed to just fundamentally misunderstand difficulty, it really seemed to think that when you first start out being vulnerable and assessing your surroundings that that's like the worst part, and the game starts getting more fun when it becomes easier. Hence why the game's biggest reward is It's like the game functions in reverse, you have some of the most incredibly fun and challenging fights happen in the first few hours, but Hyrule Castle is just a walk in the park. It's like if Mario started at world 8 and climbed his way down to 1-1

Zeld side topic:
Juell, aside from not being really catered to kids Zelda also intentionally sets itself up as a difficult game and many of it's gameplay mechanics are based off the idea that you'll need all these supplies and skills to progress. And for about half of the game that works perfectly and aymazyzing, it's only when you reach a certain point where the enemies and puzzles don't ramp up in difficulty alongside your skill and you begin to overpower the game that it becomes a problem because now that difficulty that the game relies on is no longer there. The fun of raiding an enemy camp begins to fade when you don't need to plan and think it through anymore, and the 15th test of strength shrine loses it's excitement when you perfectly know the unchanging patterns of the fight.hhbut kanoos ? you say, you sayyed, you sbeak of zelda legend of bread too easy bead game but zeelda funy control cool wurlh 2 xplorer bery good visual so how, why? you lie and deceit us all...

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I was really thinking they'd do something similar to Phantom Pain where enemy AI begins to adapt to your abilities and start taking counter measures. I think this idea would have worked really well for BOTW, like perhaps make enemies more armored if you've been sniping enemy outposts more often, or perhaps more enemies at outposts if you like to just slash your way through them.Keane wrote:And for about half of the game that works perfectly and aymazyzing, it's only when you reach a certain point where the enemies and puzzles don't ramp up in difficulty alongside your skill and you begin to overpower the game that it becomes a problem because now that difficulty that the game relies on is no longer there.
Yea, what sort of felt like was suppose to be a Stuff like this sort of incentivizes the player not to explore the shrines or do any of the side quests for a harder experience, which isn't fair to those looking for challenge.Keane wrote:

Apparently the Nvidia Shield will be able to play Wii games in China. I'm guessing it's digital titles, but what's interesting is that apparently those titles are being remastered to work at 1080p.

There's rumours going around that we're meant to be having a Nintendo Direct on the 11th. I'd imagine we're due a Direct, so here's hoping those rumours turn out to be true, and here's hoping that we'll see some footage or at least a more featured trailer for Prime 4.

And it seems to be officially licensed by Nintendo, it'd be nice if they released these outside China as well.Master wrote:Apparently the Nvidia Shield will be able to play Wii games in China.
Yea I'm really interested in seeing some Prime 4 gameplay, though I do need to get around to playing the original trilogy, still. And seeing as how the 4th title supposedly isn't being made by Retro studios, I wonder what they have in store with that?Master wrote:There's rumours going around that we're meant to be having a Nintendo Direct on the 11th. Also I'd really like some proof of concept or small teaser as to what we can expect the new Pokemon title on switch to look like. Sorry, but I hated the 3ds aesthetic, so I'm really curious if they can actually show something brand new.
I expect maybe we'll hear more info about Star Allies and that new Yoshi title (if I'm being an optimist, maybe a release date for either one.)
Highly doubtful, but it'd be really neat if Platinum decided to show some gameplay for Bayonetta 3.
This is my wishlist.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
In fairness, they did say it's meant for kids, so while I can sort of sympathise with some of the salt, I think folks are being a bit too bitter.
Personally, while I do admit it's a bit on the gimmicky side, I find the idea rather endearing. The packs do seem to be a bit more intricate than just putting cardboard together, and while it's not LEGO, it does seem to be a fun way of doing construction kits for kids. The big ask I'd imagine, is the price, from what I've read they're in the $70-$80 range.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Yeah I think the core concept is rather charming in it's own right but even if it does technically come with a game that's a rather hefty asking price for it, albeit I am not too familiar with how much such cardboard kits would cost on their own. I'm also concerned about how durable they are and the fact it doesn't seem to come with cut outs if you need pieces replaced.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Yeah that would have to be my only issue with it. That better be some damn good cardboard for $80. I am aware it comes with a game but I still can't possibly imagine $80 is a good price for what's included.Serza5 wrote: that's a rather hefty asking price for it
Anyway, like others here have said, I'm sure it'll be good stuff for kids, I'm sure I'd definitely love to play with it as a kid. Though it's hard to picture any adult male or female playing with this without looking like a bit of a manchild.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
There's a very simple solution for the price: Bundle it with all Nintendo Switch consoles. You get a console, a game and some cardboard. Now it seems stupid, but it generally is a better idea than selling it for 70-80 dollars imo.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Ninty released another trailer for the Labo:
Personally, I think it looks really cool, and I do appreciate how Ninty have actually included some technical but digestible information on the workings of the Labo set-ups. More interesting is the programmable factor, it sounds like a nice gateway to get kids interested in more technical subjects like computing or engineering. I wonder if it could be something that could be brought into Schools, like LEGO Mindstorms, though at the same time there is the cardboard factor and fragility.

I still don't feel it's worth the cost, I mean come on... it's cardboard. I've got more than plenty of the stuff laying around at home and at work.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I have such a hard time saying "Nintendo Labo", it just sounds a little sexual to me lol.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Wouldn't be surprised if "Labo" was just taken from the Japanese name and for some reason they didn't want to change it to fit the western market.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
But there's no "L" in Japanese…
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I've also heard that the japanese confuse the letter "L" with "R" and vice versa.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I was referring to how a lot of Japanese words often end with an "ou" if they're shared between different languages, but I'm just making assumptions.
