Re: Rayman Redemption
I'm only in the high 20s on the toy world and I haven't gotten back to it yet. I expect a few game overs then by the time I complete the game.

Re: Rayman Redemption
I'm in Gong Heights right now and I really like how the game builds on the the original while bringing its share of novelties, but then again those additions are all inspired by the original content (so far). I'm thinking and the new enemies (inspired by existing background elements or enemies). The inclusion of unused content is nice too, and overall I find the level design very commendable.

Re: Rayman Redemption
I've gotten used to the game myself actually, I haven't played the game (stopped at Candy Chateau) for awhile but I think I had over 100 lives. This may be me due to replaying past stages however for various achievements.
I really appreciate the changes, additions and inspirations that Ryemanni used in this game, such as being able to shoot with Bzzit and the Paint Fist.

Re: Rayman Redemption
Whenever I replay Rayman Junior for nostalgia, I end up stuck at 99 lives by the end.
The Paint Fist annoyed me for a while, at least when combined with Yin-Yangs. Eventually I figured out the trick though…

Re: Rayman Redemption
I haven’t played that game to the end in awhile, maybe I’ll be up to playing more Rayman after playing Rye’s two fangames.
Redemption is the reason why I currently despise yin yangs and basketballs.

Re: Rayman Redemption
One thing I'm having problems with is the yellow rings, I can't seem to figure out where they'll send me based on my angle. Clearly it's not the tangent, which I think would have made sense. I also tried various offsets but the results aren't consistent.
Re: Rayman Redemption
In the original game, I tend fo have over 40 lives in Picture City (PS1 version), but for some reason in Redemption I only had about 30. Maybe it's all the deaths from the unexpected boss fights.
I kind of struggle with the angles on these myself, they seem to be really hard to time properly.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:10 pm One thing I'm having problems with is the yellow rings, I can't seem to figure out where they'll send me based on my angle. Re: Rayman Redemption
As I say, the lack of automatic Ting-to-Life conversion probably plays a part, unless you've been buying lives in the shop the whole time…Steo wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:56 pm In the original game, I tend fo have over 40 lives in Picture City (PS1 version), but for some reason in Redemption I only had about 30. Re: Rayman Redemption
Considering a certain achievement, I doubt most people would do that.
Those yellow rings were fun to use, but yeah trying to aim can be a pain. Caused a few deaths in Playtopia cuz of those darn rings.
I think for me, some of the Magician's minigames can be hard as heck. The thorn garden is one such example.

Re: Rayman Redemption
I haven't even tried those ones yet, I don't look forward to them either if they're that challenging.

That could be a factor, and no I haven't been buying lives.PluMGMK wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:05 pm As I say, the lack of automatic Ting-to-Life conversion probably plays a part, unless you've been buying lives in the shop the whole time…

Re: Rayman Redemption
That's understanding. It's mainly the potion/powerup type challenges that I am finding difficult. I remember watching R4Y mess up multiple times on the first powerup challenge.
The time limit and electoon challenges were much easier.

Re: Rayman Redemption
So I just tried this game out, and it's great! I love it, the remixes of the original game's tracks are awesome, the gameplay is fun, and it seemingly got rid of most of the unfair 'things appearing out of thin air' and other nonsense from the original, however, there's only one problem I have.
The game can't save for me properly. Despite the amount of times I have seen in the bottom right corner that it autosaved, it never actually saved before I quit the game and relaunched it. I even tried to save the game from the menu at the level select and it didn't work.

Re: Rayman Redemption
Yeah, the larger field of view makes it much easier to see where the objects will appear. As for the game not saving, this is strange. Have you extracted the zip file before running the game?

Re: Rayman Redemption
I like it all, except maybe for the super helicopter mechanics? They definitely feel different from the original game, as if there was some added momentum.
Re: Rayman Redemption
It is pretty odd. As for your question, yes I have.Steo wrote: Sat Jun 27, 2020 7:21 pm Yeah, the larger field of view makes it much easier to see where the objects will appear. As for the game not saving, this is strange. Have you extracted the zip file before running the game?
Re: Rayman Redemption
I've noticed this actually, not only is it hold instead of tap, but it feels very different to the original. It's kind of more difficult to control him in a way.#Rubber mark# wrote: Sat Jun 27, 2020 8:42 pm I like it all, except maybe for the super helicopter mechanics? That's strange then. It seems that it stores the data in a Rayman Redemption folder in the appdata directory. You said you were using Windows 7 iirc, maybe Ryemanni only tested it on Windows 10, but then I'm using Wine on Linux and mine still saves. Try running it as admin if worst comes to worst.

Re: Rayman Redemption
There's definitely something up with that helicopter. It feels much more difficult to get out of falling to your death. Pressing the button just before you fall off the screen doesn't seem to cut it anymore...
Is it programmed more like Rayman 2's version, I wonder?

Re: Rayman Redemption
Well, the weird thing is is that I decided to upgrade to 10 (because staying on an OS that has ended even its extended support is pretty risky since you can get viruses more easily), however, it still does it.Steo wrote: Sat Jun 27, 2020 9:26 pm That's strange then. As for what you were saying, I just checked and it does indeed save everything in the appdata directory, more specifically the local folder.
Re: Rayman Redemption
Yeah this is why I just ended up switching to Linux, since Windows 7 was the last one I liked. I took a huge interest in learning about Linux personally, so it's not a bad thing for me, and I can still get all my games to work on it.
As for the issue, if the data exists there then the game should be finding it. Make sure you're using the latest version of the game also, but this would be a weird bug considering nobody else seems to have this issue.

Re: Rayman Redemption
Alright, so I didn't know there was a patch but I just downloaded the patched version and it fixed the issue.
