Re: The You Game!
< says it did came with Windows pre-installed. That's the case for most laptops to be honest.
< won't use it as often as Linux, but < < will keep it just in case.

Re: The You Game!
< did a bit of research and found this: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/11 ... s-by-2020/ – Intel were supposed to have deprecated it by now, but from what you said AMD didn't play ball!Steo wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 8:10 pm < can still boot in non UEFI mode on <'s B550 chipset so that part should still be good.
< realizes that what < said earlier about int 13h is just exactly what booting in non-UEFI mode is!

< had no idea Intel planned to move to pure UEFI, < always utilized legacy to boot into Linux before.

Re: The You Game!
< guesses it makes sense, since emulating 40-year-old PC components is getting kinda ridiculous in this day and age
Still, the processor itself starts in Real Mode, so…
< is finally gonna chuck that keyboard with the dodgy L key, since it decided to catastrophically fail in the middle of a game of Pinball tonight. Suddenly a bunch of keys got pressed out of nowhere, and it stopped responding to my actual keypresses at all. Two reboots later, and it responded, but with insane amounts of crosstalk (said L key now typed W, Num Lock pressed arrow keys, etc)… Well, it's been a good five years – looks like < will have to go keyboard shopping, since this stopgap is quite cumbersome and not suitable for gaming!

< thinks it makes sense too.
< fixed <'s battery icon not showing on KDE. That wasn't complicated, but rather annoying.

Re: The You Game!
< had another bit flip affecting GCC – sounds like < should be ordering new RAM as well as a new keyboard
Re: The You Game!
< forgets to update things sometimes, but then < has to rely on Python scripts where sometimes the actual source code can change, meaning some of these arguments will be invalid.

Re: The You Game!
< just realized that the "your argument is invalid" meme is like the really unhelpful "invalid argument" messages that utilities like mount give when some random syscall returns -EINVAL
< ran memtest86 on their PC and it passed, so now < is really confused

Re: The You Game!
< will probably never fix it, but it's easy enough to handle… Maybe it'll resolve itself!
