Re: Rayman 1
Well, it's been almost half a year since I posted my problem with the PSX Fin emulator. As some of you guys suggested, PCSXR seems to work fine and at the moment I haven't experienced any problem. I've also tested other games and that same problem hasn't appeared.
I know it's maybe a bit off-topic, but I wanted to plasm here the "solution" (if you want to call it that) in case anyone else has the same problem in the future.

Re: Rayman 1
The 32-bit version of Win10 might theoretically run the 16-bit DOS version natively, without sound. I never tried and wouldn't get my hopes up.
Other than that - any version will require an emulator, be it DOSBox, or some PSX/Jaguar/Saturn emulator.

Re: Rayman 1
Well the NT version of MSCDEX doesn't satisfy the game, so it shouldn't be able to run on Win10, even 32-bit. Not to mention that on Vista or later you need to disable WDDM (and hence Aero) or it'll balk at the attempt to put the screen in VGA mode.
In theory someone as crazy as me could probably write a load of compatibility layers to make it work, but then you've basically reinvented the Dosbox wheel. Except you're relying on V86 mode, which is an obsolescent CPU feature

Re: Rayman 1
I was looking through CES 1995 footage which got uploaded to Youtube. When skimming through it, there was a lot of Rayman footage for the Atari Jaguar version during the event. It seems like it is the CES 1995 build which was showcased in magazines a while back. It's really cool to have so much content recorded for it, and I really wanted to share a compiled version of the footage. It does seem similar to the Jaguar demo which we will get eventually. But, it's weird to see some parts of the footage has the 'POW' meter present in some and omitted in others. Did they have two builds at the event?
At least we know now, E3 1995 had the 32X version at gaming expo, while CES 1995 had the Jaguar version at that event. It's really interesting to see those two side by side. Rayman 1 was really popular back in the day. That's amazing.
Also, I found there was a planned 3DO version which was scheduled to be released alongside the PS1 and Sega Saturn versions, the only source so far was GamePro Issue 68 (March 1995), which they talked about the CES 1995 event in more detail. It's really interesting Rayman 1 was going to be on so many platforms. But, it made me curious if there's any earlier previews of that 3DO port or was it just an announcement or typo. But seeing how 32X was announced and was at E3 1995. I'm inclined to believe a 3DO version might exist somewhere. That's cool discovery to be honest. I would like to thank Greenness for helping me out with this search for more unseen Rayman content. Looking for this stuff is really fun so far.

there never was a actual 3do port, the 3do couldnt do 60fps so they decided to not make a version of r1 for itRetrofuge wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 6:21 pm Also, I found there was a planned 3DO version which was scheduled to be released alongside the PS1 and Sega Saturn versions, the only source so far was GamePro Issue 68 (March 1995), which they talked about the CES 1995 event in more detail. Please do not use cusswords where they are not absolutely required, we are trying to be a family-friendly forum.
Also, quoting an entire long post (with embedded photos and videos), only to reply with a one-liner to part of it, makes an unnecessary mess of the thread. I edited your post to show an example of how you might have trimmed the quote to emphasize relevance and readability.

Yeah you’re right, now staying on topic…
Re: Rayman 1
Not sure if this has been posted, but here's a Japanese commercial of Rayman for the Sega Saturn.
Re: Rayman 1
I remember finding this about a year ago. But it hasn't been posted yet. It's pretty cool that was found online to begin with. I knew the games were popular in Japan, through magazines. But, to get a commercial for it is pretty insane.

Re: Rayman 1
It kinda surprises me to see Rayman with his original colour. Didn't they change it to blue in Japan because purple meant something like death?
