The difference between hot countries and cold countries getting hot is that the heat feels a lot better in actual hot countries

What makes it even worse is when it's also cloudy, so you're not even getting any sun, but the heat is unbearable nonetheless.

This is why I’ve been doing better with recycling more often. I’d like to be able to protect the planet from getting hotter. So I don’t have to spend all summer indoors.

Yeah, it's not really a thing in this part of the world, although you tend to see units on some of the newer houses. "Central Heating" was traditionally the mainstay around here, but now retrofits and new builds are being encouraged to switch to heat pumps, which at least are more energy efficient. Even in that case, I don't think they're usually configured to be able to operate in reverse, as air conditioners…

Yeah I believe we're trying to phase out gas heating here, and heat pumps are meant to be the means to do so. Though I have heard that initiative has stalled so we'll have to wait and see. But yeah with temperatures getting warmer in the UK, and the fact that it's usually fairly moist around here, AC's are probably going to need to see more use since we'll need something that can cool and also dehumidify.

Yeah same applies here. We even used to use a fireplace with a back boiler to heat the water, until we eventually switched over to gas. Seems in Sweden there is no such thing as this. I never seen anyone with gas heating, it seems to always be electric. I don't see why, because that's going to cost a fortune every winter. They also don't ever use electric showers, which are extremely common in Ireland.

I don’t usually bother with recycling, because, as Doaenel said it best, even if I spend my whole life using paper cups, straws etc and live my full life like that 5x over, I’m not even doing 1% of what some guys factory in china is doing every second, so I wouldn’t really worry if I were you

It's been a total scorcher, which has been thwarting my attempts to keep my family's backyard and front lawn green in this heat. It's only green in some places, other spots are dry brown.

I take my new responsibility pretty seriously! I hate being held up on it, because then all my set alarms are worthless.

Well, it was storming, but sadly no more. A bit of thunder while posting on here was nice.

I am glad I don't get that crazy weather but it's so interesting that people who do are so used to it that they seem calm.

Greetings fellow tornado land resident! Avoided any twisters lately?

Yeah, tornado season in the spring typically makes me a little anxious.

I have never had that but honestly even strong winds get me feeling that way. I would probably be very worked up if I had the type of weather I hear of the US having sometimes. Even thunderstorms scare me, I'm not able for these things.
