Re: Which personality do you have?
So it turns out when I took this test many moons ago I was diagnosed as INTJ, but since I recently signed up on the dating app Boo (it's almost a ransomware, don't recommend at all) which is based on the Myers-Briggs test, and I got INTP, with the following :
75% Introversion (dam' right)
53% Intuition
50% Thoughts
50% Perception
So it does seem that I'm on the verge of everything besides introversion. My therapist says Myers-Briggs is horseshit anyway.

Myers-Briggs has as much meaning as you put into it, honestly. I don't think it should be taken TOO seriously, but it can be a fun little thing that helps you recognize patterns between yourself and your friends!
Re: Which personality do you have?
Sure, but my therapist encourages me to reject all those kinds of tests because she says instead of trying to fit in a box, I have a tendency to hide behind them.

Re: Which personality do you have?
I wonder if I should get my personality diagnosed? I think it would be interesting but also a waste of time unless I fit it in with another appointment

The thing about these tests, is that they actually can identify thinking patterns. There are 100% correlations between certain types being more likely to have certain interests too. This is not always the case of course, and no two people are the same regardless. It's still pseudo science at the end of the day, but personally I did take an interest in it. I'm not interested in MBTI communities in themselves though, it's all about people trying to flex superiority for their type, while trying to put others down for theirs because "who even cares about x" etc.Pirez wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 6:48 pm Sure, but my therapist encourages me to reject all those kinds of tests because she says instead of trying to fit in a box, I have a tendency to hide behind them.
Cognitive functions are better when it comes to this, although still pseudo science. For example, an INTP will have:
Ti (introverted thinking)
Ne (extraverted intuition)
Si (introverted sensing)
Fe (extraverted feeling)
There are definitely very clear correlations when people have these traits. The Ti / Fe axis and the Fi / Te axis are very obvious with a person, same with Si / Ne and Ni / Se ones.
From my own observation, an example is that an Fi person is more likely to be annoyed that a person is doing something that they personally feel is "wrong", however, an Fe person is likely going to be annoyed if what that person is doing is affecting other people, and that's what makes it "wrong" to them.
It is still something not to take overly seriously to the point that you let it define who you are, but you will most likely have certain thinking patterns and that's just how our brains work. I never liked the idea of "people being put into boxes" as even mentioned in an above post here. It's as silly as saying "I am only capable of X and Y because of Z". I don't even agree that anyone who even has a disorder should ever limit themselves in that way either. Anyone who has anything, whether it's ADHD, Autism etc. None of those things should stop a person from thinking they're capable of anything, because they're still capable as long as they can believe in themselves.
EDIT: I just found this about Fi vs Fe, I think it makes sense:
Fe believes that morals are universal to the situation and do not change based on the person. Fi believes that morals are universal to the person and do not change based on the situation
Re: Which personality do you have?
I didn't want to double post here, but it's been a couple months since the last response.
I just wanted to say that I looked into this stuff again recently and have come to the conclusion that I am most likely ISFJ with enneagram 6w5, rather than an INTP like I have previously been thinking. Both ISFJ and INTP have the same functions in their stack, but in a different order. There are so many things I do that show clear signs of high Si usage (xSxJ), but I also show high Ti usage, hence my confusion. It also didn't help when it came to stereotypes, along with being in a bad state of mind etc.
Long story short, I believe I'm ISFJ. The test above had given me INFJ when I took it, but I don't think that really makes sense for me to have high Ni instead of high Si. It might just be the weird spectrum calculation method it uses instead of using functions themselves.
If anyone else is interested, I feel like tests such as mistypeinvestigator might be worth trying, to see if you get a different result than in the HumanMetrics one.
There is also Sakinorva, which a lot of people seem to think is reliable too.

Re: Which personality do you have?
Well, according to the first test, looks like I am an ENFP (also second place I am ESTJ then INFP), very interesting
, and very different from my last results

Re: Which personality do you have?
Yeah since these tests go on the actual functions instead of just spectrums, it's usually more accurate as long as you managed to answer the questions as truthfully as possible. Given you got ENFP, it's saying you are Ne Fi Te Si.Greengoop wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2024 6:48 pm Well, according to the first test, looks like I am an ENFP (also second place I am ESTJ then INFP), very interesting, and very different from my last results

Ne = Extraverted Intuition
Fi = Introverted Feeling
Te = Extraverted Thinking
Si = Introverted Sensing
The functions have a bit more do them than this if looked into, but extraverted intuition is all about being able to come up with multiple possibilities all the time and not really being a go by the book person. More go with the flow than go by the book in a way. Fi is all about personal values, that you would rather go by what you feel is right and wrong rather than what other people tell you is right and wrong. There's more to it than this, but you could always see if you really think Ne and Fi sound like you if you are interested. It's possible to look into each function, but that might get too complicated for most people to want to go through the effort, so you can see if ENFP sounds like you if you want: https://www.psychologyjunkie.com/the-co ... lity-type/
Thanks! I hope you've been keeping well.

That’s interesting! Being a mixture of both personalities makes a lot more sense to me considering I feel between the two a lot of the timeSteo wrote: Mon Oct 07, 2024 7:32 pmYeah since these tests go on the actual functions instead of just spectrums, it's usually more accurate as long as you managed to answer the questions as truthfully as possible. Ne = Extraverted Intuition
Fi = Introverted Feeling

(Also I am almost certainly ENFP, after looking at how I match up with how they describe me on the website)
Re: Which personality do you have?
That makes sense then. I feel like I am definitely ISFJ after all the excessive looking into it. INTP can actually be more similar to ISFJ than it might seem on the surface, so it was hard for me to rule out. I feel like ISFJ definitely makes the most sense for my thinking patterns, especially the high Si where I remember every little detail about everything, and instantly notice when something has changed compared to the last time I was at a place. It's associated with having a clear details recollection of events too, and most detective characters would stereotypically be xSxJ because of how they have to pay attention to every little detail and remember everything that they've seen etc.

Re: Which personality do you have?
I think it is interesting how a lot of personalities connect like that despite sounding nothing alike. I wonder if INFP and INTJ have any similarities to ENFP
Re: Which personality do you have?
The similarity that applies to all of these types is a preference for intuition over sensation. This is most pronounced in the INTJ and ENFP, for whom sensation is an inferior function.Greengoop wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 6:06 pm I think it is interesting how a lot of personalities connect like that despite sounding nothing alike. In terms of how one is inclined to perceive and judge things, the ENFP will relate most to the INFP, which is reflected in the number of similar letters. The difference of introversion/extraversion can have a complementary effect (you've probably heard the meme where "every extravert needs their introvert"). At the same time, it's their key point of difference.
Here are some examples of these types:
ENFP: Robin Williams
INFP: JK Rowling
INTJ: Hideo Kojima

Re: Which personality do you have?
Hmm, so it’s possible to be more than 1 personality? I also think it is very interesting learning which celebrities have the same personality as you
Re: Which personality do you have?
It's not really possible to be more than one personality. What these "personalities" represent are the factors that dominate consciousness vs. those that are repressed to the unconscious. Sometimes the unconscious wins out, but it has an archaic infantile character. For example, the feeling type becomes hyper critical when their unconscious thinking comes to the surface.
However, it is not impossible for things to change. A solid doesn't become a liquid on the spot, but with enough pressure from external factors, it can do.

Re: Which personality do you have?
Considering they often change (like how I went from introvert to extrovert over a year) then I wonder how many of those celebrity personalities are still accurate
Re: Which personality do you have?
I'm not sure, but I think people have a kind of "true nature" that shows itself in the most extreme circumstances. There's lots of layers to people, like an onion. My theory is that the outer layers shift and adapt more easily to new circumstances than the inner layers.

Re: Which personality do you have?
Possibly. I’d assume if I did this test every year for 10 years my personalities would still likely be connected
Re: Which personality do you have?
The way I see it, is that your core functions don't really ever change. You can manage to improve at using your inferior and shadow functions, but you will always be the same type. You can simply be "mistyped", meaning that you got the wrong results on a test. Tests aren't always very accurate, and it depends on how truthfully you answer the questions too. If you want to take typing yourself seriously, you would need to understand how the functions work and which ones you use. These letter dichotomy tests that don't even look into functions at all aren't even worth taking seriously, but the ones I sent above at least try to find out what your functions are.
For example, I was always typing as an xxxP, because there's a misconception that P = unorganised and messy, and J = organised and tidy. This is a complete misconception. I am very clearly an Si user and not Se. Therefore I can never be ISFP like my initial result, and am an ISFJ. Ironically the different between the J and P here is that not even one single function in the stack is the same.
ISFP = Fi Se Ni Te
ISFJ = Si Fe Ti Ne
I was also never an INTP, I was mistyping myself, as ISFJ and INTP have the same functions in the stack, just in a different order.
As for extraversion and introversion, that doesn't change either. Introversion and extraversion work in this way:
Energised by being with other people = Extravert
Energised by having time alone = Introvert
An introvert can enjoy spending time with others, just like an extravert can want time alone here and there. It depends on what energises you. Also, introversion and extraversion in a cognitive way isn't the same as social. AKA, Exxx or Ixxx doesn't mean extraverted or introverted socially, just cognitively.

Re: Which personality do you have?
I’m not sure whether I am actually an introvert or an extrovert. I will gain energy from being around people but at the same time i hardly ever speak unless I am invited to chat or it’s a subject I care about
Also it appears my N has always stayed there, so I can certainly say that about myself

I can attest to that for sure - I'm ENFP, and my best friend is INFP; I connect with her more deeply than I have anyone in my life, and our dynamic is really fulfillingHugo wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 6:34 pm In terms of how one is inclined to perceive and judge things, the ENFP will relate most to the INFP, which is reflected in the number of similar letters.
