You're welcome! :noel:
As for me, I'm listening to Sonic music all year long (especially the songs), the OSTs are all just that great in that franchise! :mryellow: ...

...Well, most of them are. :hap:
Gosh, this game's soundtrack!

Sonic CD is the first 2D Sonic I ever played (through the Gems Collection), so it'll always be special to me even as a 3D Sonic enthusiast!
Now, let's get Wacky! :fou:

Sonic music is one of the things the series manages to actually maintain a decent batting average on. In light of Sonic 3 I've been listening to a lot of Shadow related stuff... including this really nice mix that combines the scratches from the original version of Westopolis to the remix done for Shadow Generations:

So I've been wandering in the streets of my hometown on monday 30th because one of my brand new tires wasn't fitted properly and almost blew up after only 400km of road.

The swap is scheduled to be one hour so I'm walking while listening to music on Youtube. And out of the fucking blue, I'm recommended the music for one of the cutscenes of Megaman X8. Being a fellow organist, I was looking for it for years. There weren't included in the official OST. And there it was, presented randomly in a completely randomized feed because NewPipe doesn't retain account information.

Truely, a Christmas miracle.

"I believe in my future, farewell to the shadow
It was my place to live, but now I need your hand
Lead me out with your light, I have breathed in
The disgusting air of darkness, but I never lose out

To the pressure, everything's just like
An illusion, I'll be losing you, before long..."

The Westopolis remix was a nice surprise in the movie DLC!
The year of Shadow was a Chaos Blast! :proud:

I'm a little disappointed that their mix of Supporting Me doesn't have any lyrics in the game, at least the Soundtrack release does, but I wonder if someone will mod that into the game now.

But yeah, I think 2024 has turned out to be a pretty strong year for Sonic, I hope they can continue that momentum, cause they do have a bad tendency of fumbling when they're on a good streak.

As for what I'm currently listening to:
Astro's Playroom OST - Let's Do This

I'm actually a little disappointed that they didn't use this for the speedrunning levels in the DLC for Astro Bot. The music they do use is repurposed miniboss music, and it works fine, but I did like this track more for speedrunning. It has a more playful and motivating vibe for me.

Yes, I was disappointed by that too, which is even weirder when they did use the lyrics in the Doom powers trailer... :paranormal:
I get it was most likely an artistic decision as they wanted to symbolize Shadow not being haunted by his past anymore and having conquered it (which is also why the Live and Learn leitmotif bit is the clearest it has ever been in any version of Supporting Me), but it doesn't feel the same to fight the Biolizard without them...

And indeed, let's hope they won't stray from this path again, they made too many nonsensical changes of direction for the worse before, mainly during the post-Adventure 2 and post-Generations (2011) era...
They did say they wanted Frontiers to be the experimental template for what Sonic should be onwards and it already shows through Shadow Generations' open White Space and many features in that game, so it would be stupider than ever to change everything again when Sonic X Shadow Gens is the most positively received 3D Sonic game as of now.

Well, I just finished Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the first time (yes, in 2025 :oops2: ), so I had to listen to this kick-ass 3DS Generations remix to celebrate!

Ah I didn't realise it was an artistic decision, I was wondering if it was some rights issues. Good news is that there is a mod that takes the recently released OST and puts it into the game, so there is a means to play the game with lyrics now at least.

Yeah, there does seem to a sense of evolution and growing off what's worked, so I'm hoping this is a new norm and they'll carry on building on what they've done. And yeah the White Space was very clearly taking lessons off the open zones from Frontiers, I do wonder what will come next for the concept going forward then, will they continue this hybrid of Open and Boost Zones? Guess time will tell.

Speaking of Sonic Team's weird changes of direction, one of the few good things to have come out of Shadow With A Gun™:
