I'm at the boss of DOTK. Pretty cool guy. Reflux is very unique!

I do regret complaining about the difficulty though, since it's actually a cakewalk. I didn't have to pull up a youtube video halfway for this one!

...Maybe it's because I purposely avoided the teensies + all of the gem things, but I'm not a completionist anyways, so who cares :oops2:

I actually had to pull up a video because I was stuck in that Knaaren mini arena, because I didn’t realise the Heavy Metal Fist was actually a Rocket Power :boon:

I was looking around in a section for a place to use my heavy metal fist, but couldn’t see any doors, so I checked on YouTube and realised it was a shock rocket all along

Well I suppose that’s one way to look at it. This is admittedly how I took the game the first time as a kid. Ofc these days I do go for everything hahaha. Anyways good going! I always liked Reflux’s theme in the desert. :D

I simply don't go the completionist route because i'm lazy and it just makes the game harder :oops2:

I still need to 100% Origins because that's pretty much the only Rayman game I could realistically 100%... I have like 240 electoons or something, I don't really play it much so I don't exactly remember

...Back on topic, though, Reflux is actually pretty hard. I don't really die in the 3D rayman games since you get so many hits before you die, but I died 2 times to the guy last night and I'm reconsidering the difficulty thing :mefiant:

Still unique and fun, but it's more frustrating than anything

Well, I kinda need to get everything since I’m a trophy hunter, but this might actually be one of the hardest games to 100%

Fair enough, I just don't see it to be necessary in most games unless you're forced to do it

See? I can imagine you ragequitting before finishing. You will probably never go back to Rayman 1 in that case

Personally, I don't find it too difficult to find everything, but I assume this is you guys' first time playing through the whole game. I'll say this though, if you're trying for a high score, then I would agree, it does get hard.

Yuuuup, first time playing. I only got into Rayman pretty recently, anyways so I guess it makes sense (like January of last year I think) that I haven't played everything yet :oops2:

Coming back to this thread feeling like a sore loser since I think I was pretty close to beating Reflux's ass but his little spin guys kept killing me :mefiant:... and everytime I'd go down for a red lum or whatever it is, I kept getting either hit by the spinner things, the thing that makes it so you just don't camp on the net the whole fight or one of Reflux's various attacks

Edit: Yeah so I beat Reflux and the longest shortcut absolutely sucks, I'm not too far into it but im taking a break because all of these moving platforms are killing me

Also, my cutscenes don't exactly load so I was super confused on why Rayman could grimace now.. Reminds me of the time where the surfer doctor cutscene didn't load and my brain filled it in with "Oh, he's giving Globox that good stuff!" :oops2: Right now I'll just be watching the 2 cutscenes I missed and giving R3 another week or so long break because it's a level I don't like :fou:

Oh, I 100% every Rayman game I owned. Most of them fairly, the only exception being the atrocious Rayman 3 for the GBA known mistakenly as Hoodlum's Revenge, where I used save states.

But the R3 (and incidentally, RHR) scoring system is such that there is almost no concept of 100%. Even after getting all lums, cages, Murphy stamps, whatever - you can still try to combo stuff and improve your score. This I refuse to invest too much time in, although I would like to maybe break 500K in Rayman 3 one day. :fou2:

Oh yeah, during my first playthrough of the game, I died against Reflux a couple of times, both in TOTL level 4 and also in level 5 (it took me a while to get my aim with the Armaguiddon precise enough to hit the scepter consistently). I still remember my most aggravating death - where I simply slipped with the controls and fell into the void during the third phase of the level 4 battle.

Dunno if WPTheModder's too fussed, but it sounds like you may be giving away spoilers there 😅 From the context of Modder's (am I alright to use that nickname?) it sounds like he's only done the first Reflux boss, so he might not know about him being the final boss xD

That said, I'm pretty sure I said this before when EdgeRabbit was doing his Rayman 3 run, but that Reflux boss fight is my absolute favourite boss fight in the series. I just love the atmosphere and the situation of you being stuck in an arena 1vs1 while there's ominous chanting surrounding you, it really does feel like you're in the midst of ceremonial combat. The boss itself isn't too hard for me these days, but I still like it for how it keeps you on your toes.

I actually really like the nickname, people only call me either WP or just the full username so it's cool to see a new one

Yeah, I meant the first time you encounter him. I don't exactly care for spoilers as long as people aren't giving away the whole thing :oops2: I think it was kinda obvious anyways that he's going to be the final boss, since he teams up with Andre and wants the scepter. Other than that I have thankfully no idea about what else happens :hap:

Okay, I've been playing Rayman 3 for hours straight now. I finished all of the Longest Shortcut, did that cool boat thing, finished the snow world and now I'm at the "horrible machine" in Hoodlums HQ.

My thoughts on R3 is that it's great, but something does feel a little off about it for some reason. can I put my finger on it? No, but all I can say for now is that Rayman 3 is weaker than R2 :oops2:

I still absolutely love it though. The Hoodlums HQ looks great, and the music so far is also cool. They are using the Hoodoo and Heckler a lot though. Always a doozy when I encounter one. I have also noticed that most of the answer to playing through R3 is that you NEED to wind up your punches or else you'll get nowhere. I don't ever use the feature unless im forced to (which is most of the time :oops2:)

I have a lot to say but I'm not going to speak all of it yet since I think I'm close to beating the game (or somewhat close, atleast) and I'll share all of my thoughts when I get to that point

Every time I have the bright idea to play R1 again because of nostalgia or the wish to one day 100% it, I change my mind within 24 or 48 hours.

I agree, R2 > R3, but something about the "edgy" art direction and humor really appeals to me. It's my favorite Rayman game simply through vibes.

I'm not exactly fond of the edginess. I think they did that so Rayman had more appeal, but I honestly just don't see the point of it. It does give us some pretty funny dialogue lines and ads, but I prefer mostly everything from R2.

I do think R3 kinda works better since it doesn't take itself seriously, but sometimes they need to tone it down just a tinch. Other than that, no real complaints.

I might be nitpicking now, but I also don't like the route they went with Rayman's design either.. mainly the hair, everything else looks fine :oops2:

It’s really hit or miss to me. I’m either cracking up on the floor or sitting there unamused. Also, what definition of Edgy are we going by here? I always just assumed it’s enjoying and making dark jokes and constantly using very explicit language.

Edgy as in the definition you stated basically.

The jokes aren't exactly "dark" or that offensive (I'm saying "that" because Murfy literally asks you if you're mentally... yeah :oops2:) but they would make a white angry mom convulse on the floor if they heard it. I'd say most of the jokes are just "haha, funny sex joke" or "haha, globox is stupid!" that most of the time flop unless done right :?

I mean I laughed at some of them, like the Globox running into the Uglette cut-out, or the Murfy one where the manual says he needs to shut up before he's on an X-rated channel or something, but some of them are almost uncomfortable to sit through like the Begoniax and Razoff cutscene :boon:... And the Globox is dumb jokes can be really hilarious, like all of the things he says whilst you're on the ship, but most of them can be annoying since he talks a little bit.. too much :oops2:

And the rest of the humor is just randomness that I absolutely love. Everytime the Knaaren say "Make him write bad checks!" I always have a giggle or two. Or the one where Globox turns smart and he's talking about how superior he is. And, all of Andre's dialogue when he's in Globox's stomach is great, too.

The main point is; they're good at the humor, but they try to throw in edgy sex jokes or Globox jokes that drag on for too long, and they're honestly SUPER unfunny and irritating to sit through.
