Would you pay more taxes if it meant receiving a pension when you retire?

Yes, the state should guarantee a pension for its citizens.

Yes, but a mixed model would be more efficient (50% state + 50% private pension plan, for example).

No, the state does not have to manage my money; I prefer to have it myself and opt, for example, for a private pension plan.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread - Poll #118: How much do you sleep?

Post by Magelin »

Depends on the day, honestly. One day i literally woke up at 5 pm :boon:, but i think i was just really tired back then..
Well, anyway, i think i wake up usually at around 8am-11am. So, approximately 6-8 hours, i think, considering that i also spend some time at night.

Maybe 8-9 hours on weekdays and often more than 10 on weekends. Yeah, I really love sleeping.

I fixed my sleep schedule last week and got out of bed and 5 and 7 am, to exercise in the morning. For the most part I've been getting out of bed whenever as my work used to be flexible and I could even work from home on research projects. Now I have to turn around the clock. At my worst as a student I could wake up at 3 PM.

I always try to sleep for 7 hours minimum, when I sleep less time I feel the need to recover the hours of sleep I lost.
I wish I could sleep more but because of my job and how far I live from my workplace I don't have much time for it, I barely have time for myself.. :(

Oh my gosh as a uni student my sleep schedule was practically nonexistent! My first two years I would just stay up and use my laptop for hours and then slept at whatever the f*** time I wanted not caring at all about stuff lol. Like I had periods of time where I slept through whole days and then it was dinner time when i got up and then stayed up the whole night, it was just so bad back then.

When I was studying I slept around 7 hours. However, now that I'm on the PhD I only sleep around 5 hours. To be honest, it's the first time in my life that I don't know how to manage my free time. Enjoying some leisure time involves sacrificing sleep hours. Only if I wasn't out home that much...

Never heard of Ben & Jerry's (I guess an ice-cream flavour poll would make things easier), but this post gave me an idea! Maybe we can hear some interesting stories about that.

So... Did you boycott a brand because of its political positions? :hinhinhin:

They say “separate the art from the artist” and I agree 100%. I don’t care how “ultrawoke” B%Js is, I just think their ice cream is the best I’ve ever tasted.

Well, back in 2012, I briefly boycotted a load of big media companies over the SOPA debacle, so Yes :hap:

I definitely have, currently am, and will in the future!

I don't care about the political position of an artist, or a company, per se.
I start caring if a corporation (typically one that is either a monopoly or close to a monopoly) tries to use its tremendous market power to force its preferred political outcome, by means of influencing (read - "bullying") elected officials to act according to its political agenda.

I must say : I've never boycotted any company in the past but given all the shit we see out of it's owner and the fact that it's latest products are death machines glued together with pritt stick, I guess I'm boycotting Tesla.

But then again, buying cars is not something I do once every fifteen years, so I'm not sure if if counts.

It's actually the woke stuff Goop mentioned that I had in mind, but I guess things got even more complicated since the beginning of the Gaza war. :fou2: :oops2:

I try to avoid buying from big corporations as much as possible, I buy everything second hand. To my computer to my clothes.

The only thing i really buy from big stores is food and craft supplies.
