Re: Off Topic
I’m not, this is the biggest catastrophe of the 21st century especially considering they’ve only made a single OS since

Is there any way I could upgrade to win. 11? Apparently my PC doesn't support it, but I bet if I had someone tinker in there it would work? I have a gaming PC, I wouldn't want all that money to go waste

Re: Off Topic
Alright
I just checked an article about the potential risks of still having Windows 10, and I must say- We are absolutely doomed. Hopefully I can get another PC in that time, but I highly doubt it... In the meantime, I guess I'll be looking for flash drives that can hold a lot of stuff to combat file loss, and also to have a backup in case anything goes wrong

Actual answer : don't.WPTheModder wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 7:22 pm Is there any way I could upgrade to win. 11? Apparently my PC doesn't support it, but I bet if I had someone tinker in there it would work? I have a gaming PC, I wouldn't want all that money to go waste![]()
Microsoft removal of support for Windows 10 means that it won't update the security systems on the OS. Not that it will stop working altogether.
It means that bad actors will be progressively be able to exploit security breaches for the fleet of Windows 10 machines. But given as you are a rando with limited ressources you most certainly aren't a target for any hacker. Plus, if you have a healthy knowledge on what to download and what not, your chances of being exploited are virtually 0.
Windows 11, on the other hand, is an advisertisement filled mess that is really gluttonous with resources, which already hinders old PC's ability to run it properly, and is, in my opinion, not worth the hassle even if you have a good machine.
Re: Off Topic
I mean… I was using Windows 7 atleast 3 years after it discontinued its extended support, and nothing bad ever happened.
Plus, there are people out there who are still using Vistas, XPs, heck, even 98’s maybe!
So, i really don’t think you should worry about it that much. Not to mention, Windows 11 is… kind of shady, just like Pirez said above.

Two years ago, I went to check on my old highschool : they still run fine on Windows 7 (albeit a tad slow but high school was 15 years agoMagelin wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 8:07 pm I mean… I was using Windows 7 atleast 3 years after it discontinued its extended support, and nothing bad ever happened.

Re: Off Topic
Maybe even downloading a different operating system to windows would be a good idea.
Re: Off Topic
While true in theory, regular users who jump to any kind of Linux distribution usually find themselves frustrated by the lack of applications that they were used to growing up (Office to LibreOffice, for example), when they even exist at all. The gap of software that are unsupported by Linux is shrinking, but it is still there.
I would also recommend against it, as it is not a labor-free transition, especially for people who only see computer as an entertainment machine.

Re: Off Topic
I'd argue that the people who see computers as entertainment machines could benefit from some labor with the product they own and learn something about it (myself included). Otherwise you're at the mercy of whatever MS decides to do in future. I'm seriously considering switching to linux when my PC eventually reaches the end of its life, but I won't deny that it's scary from a business perspective. I don't want to be scrambling to resolve compatibility issues.Pirez wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:47 am While true in theory, regular users who jump to any kind of Linux distribution usually find themselves frustrated by the lack of applications that they were used to growing up (Office to LibreOffice, for example), when they even exist at all. So it turns out I may have found a new least favorite Pokémon in the flesh of Starmie.
I picked it on monday for next week's Pokémonday (because with my sister on the continent I may not be able to stream next monday). But no matter how much efforts I put in, the result were just flat. I just couldn't draw this motherfucking motherfucker. Here is my best attempt : And it bugged me all goddamn week up until I said to myself "what the fuck does this demon of an abomination have that I can't represent?", which gave me the spark I needed to create a new variant that I will submit to Nintendo for the next game.
He is now Psychic/Ghost.

I decided to switch to Windows 11, but I was seriously considering switching over to Linux Mint.
The only reason I didn't is because of concerns about gaming, but if you only use Steam you're probably golden.

Yeah, not sure what it was meant to represent but it always felt like one of the least inventive of the original Pokémon.Pirez wrote: Fri Mar 28, 2025 9:09 pm So it turns out I may have found a new least favorite Pokémon in the flesh of Starmie.

Today is the day you can prepare the best April Fool's joke!
Re: Off Topic
I like Starmie, it's cool how in the anime they get across that it has a taut body but with some degree of flexibility. I also like how they made grey, normally the most boring of colors, have this stable, reassuring affect by sort of dampening down its flashy center. It definitely feels like the evolution of Staryu in that sense.
Love your art style as always! Hmm, need to think of April Fool's jokes. "Rayman 4 was announced" is too obvious. Hmm...Today is the day you can prepare the best April Fool's joke!

Re: Off Topic
I think we should abolish April Fool’s Day. It’s just a day where people get seriously pissed off, pretend to laugh it off, and piss another person off
