Re: How to get tings
New here it seems? Welcome!
It appears you’ve already got 2000 tings but submitting your R3HOF score, getting that many tings normally took me a month so you’ve already got a headstart!
Usually you get 5 tings per post, but that number is often doubled or trebled on special occasions, most notably Record Day, which is a special day each summer where you get a heck-loada tings
Also you can get them by donation, look, I’ll demonstrate, 20 tings for you!
There are also a few competitions where you can earn tings by winning. Here, I’ll link some!

Yooo that’s an awesome graph! I wonder how it’s look today?PluMGMK wrote: Sun Feb 05, 2017 12:28 am I also plotted Tings versus Posts, to see how it compares to the "normal" Tings=Posts*5. As one would expect, the slope of a linear fit forced through the origin is more than 5. That outlier to the top-left is Canard WC.

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
I was on Discord a few days ago and noticed a few negative comments about RPC that did not reflect my very positive experience of almost 5 years, so I entered the conversation to share my views and that led to some interesting discussions.
First, we talked about the Сым incident that was discussed a while back and while some new elements surfaced, which it isn't my place to share out of the respect for the people involved, it did at least confirm Hunch's statement that he knew nothing about Сым before they joined and that he banned them as soon as they started posting hateful content.
Another thing that was brought up, however, is that there was a period where one could frequently see "all sorts of true heinous clown shit" in the recent posts sidebar and that RPC was to blame for "harboring this kinda people for years and, as a major hub with plenty of other places linked or associated, causing them to spill out literally everywhere".
While everyone seemed to agree that RPC is much better now, some expressed frustration that the "history is never fully spoken of". I feel that this lack of dialogue creates division in the community and I was hoping that maybe staff could address those concerns, clarify what happened back then and make a statement about it? Thanks!

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
It saddens me how much slander RPC receives online, especially on discord. I have a theory of where this all stems from, but I probably won’t delve into it.

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
Sorry for the late reply, we had an RPC IRL last weekend and things have been pretty hectic at work lately.
It is true that there was a time (up until 2018) during which more than untasteful messages were regularly posted on the forum by certain users and it took much longer than it should have for them to get deleted, in some rare cases even years. It is a valid concern that those problems, though long gone, have never been publicly addressed, and I will explain why and what actually happened.
In the process, I will also show why it is utterly wrong to accuse the site of "harboring" the authors of such posts "for years", and why anyone making such claims is at best unwittingly spreading disinformation, or at worst engaging in slander with the sole goal of causing harm to this community.
The story begins in 2014, when changes occurred within a certain group of users who until then had been little more than harmless, funny trolls. They were into some form of absurd shitposting not unusual for the times, but some, though not all, were skilled hackers, and the group as a whole had access to valuable resources and tools thanks to them. The real extent of the group's global activities is still unclear today, but I must already stress that RPC was not their main dwelling place, and that they were most active on platforms such as Skype, YouTube, Reddit, Twitter, Wikia/Fandom and later Discord (and allegedly on some secret forum). Neither is their origin: some were already present on RaymanZone in 2003, but they probably go back longer.
Anyway, what happened is that new members joined the group, old members left, but the skills were transferred and the tools retained. A dynamic formed where the group gradually became more vindictive and abandoned schoolboy humor for more and more harmful activities. This included hacking, harassment, doxing, extortion, death threats and even physical intimidation. It is hard to overstate the impact this had on victims. Some people lost their life savings. Some had nudes of themselves shared online. Some had their mothers advertised on escort services. Some had death threats sent to their homes, inside letters with unidentified powder and razor blades. Some were even followed on the street.
I could go on for a while, but you're probably starting to understand why it was not possible to communicate on this. People were terrified. Half of our staff left. The ones who stayed were prime targets, and for those of us they still failed to intimidate, they engaged in the vilest practice: holding innocent people hostages. Ban my account? I'll dox that person. Delete my message? I hope they don't mind this picture being shared. We had to constantly engage in the most ludicrous negotiations to prevent the worst from happening, while the site was being DDOSed, spammed and attacked in various other ways.
People went to the police, but nothing ever came out of it. They just did not care. So, behind the scenes, we worked for years to obtain some leverage against the group, and we finally managed to put an end to attacks against our members in 2018 and rid the forum of them for good in 2019. This also significantly impacted their activities on the rest of the Rayman community (where, I repeat, they'd been much more active than on RPC), though I believe notable drama kept occurring on Discord, Twitter and Reddit for a few more years.
Not to say that we did everything right. The team was at times busy and understaffed and as a result, did not react fast enough. We also failed to see the shift in dynamic early enough and treated problems as individual cases when we should have followed a holistic approach from the beginning. And even though we could not communicate about this publicly at the time for reasons now obvious, we could probably have done more in private and after the problem was resolved. But even today, I think that some will deem it unwise that I post this message: this is the sheer extent of the mark this group has left on the community.
But to say that we harbored those people? They did not originate from here. We were not their main dwelling place. If anything, they attacked the site and its members for years and, to add insult to the injury, stained its reputation by association, which is the reason I have to write this very post. Does anybody really think that after years of unabating heinous acts, they suddenly decided to pack their bags for no particular reason? Think again. We rid the community of them.
I hope this message clarifies the situation and finally puts an end to the spread of disinformation. Should it fail to dissuade its authors, may it at least serve as a helpful reference for those unfortunate enough to stumble upon such baseless claims.

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
Huge thanks for this summary Hunch. It’s horrific how the group degraded from slightly unethical yet mostly respected practices all the way to life sentence-worthy stuff. Especially since one of them confirmed themself to be born before 1989 so a group of grown men was committing these atrocities. Though I didn’t realise the group wasn’t centred around the RPC, thanks for sharing.
Though I’d actually argue they first lost their harmlessness in 2011, as that’s when they started hacking enemies and… the topic.

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
People got hacked before 2014, but it was never more than some harmless schoolboy humor where they would change your desktop background to gay porn or edit a turd on top of your head on your Facebook profile picture (this literally happened to some of our staff). This is still completely illegal and constitutes an invasion of privacy but the internet was a very different place back then. Not that we ever condoned this, but nobody was intimidated or harassed until the shift that occurred in 2014.

Thanks for clearing it up hunch! I used to be in a discord server with people who would complain about this site all the time, but they ended up just being negative all the time so I left lol.

Those people may have heard myths started by this group Hunch speaks of. They briefly returned to the Rayman Community (NOT the forum) during the Summer of 2022 and I believe that’s the last time they’ve ravaged this community.

I wouldn't say that, but everyone cohabitated well and the place was just your average early 2000s web forum.Greengoop wrote: Sat Jun 21, 2025 10:52 am Alright, thanks for clarifying!Did you used to be friends with these guys before they became degenerated?
Well, thanks for your positivity Edge! Sometimes, all it takes is a vocal minority to ruin the fun for everyone else.EdgeRabbit wrote: Sat Jun 21, 2025 11:09 am Thanks for clearing it up hunch! For real! Plus the people in said server kept making me extremely uncomfortable. So I don’t have a good experience with them either way.

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
Well, if it's the server I'm thinking about, and from what I've been told, it's only a couple people there that keep making the same unsubstantiated, vague negative statements about other communities, and everyone else is just fine. Do not let a vocal minority overshadow an otherwise positive community.

Re: All you need to know about Pirate-Community
Thanks for the explanation Hunch, it is really horrendous that such things happened and I'm glad that those people are gone.
Anyway, I'm also made increasingly uncomfortable by the same people Edge mentioned. Someone there complained that the statement did not address the 2020 "Сым incident" so I pointed out that I asked specifically about the earlier heinous posts. Then they said the statement was made to look like nothing wrong happened after 2019 so I pointed out that it's not what it says. And then it started going in circles with them stating that the statement did not go over the other problems I did not ask about and that the 2020 incident was a case of heinous posts too, even though they were deleted immediately as I witnessed at the time. They concluded by denying this and saying that they would not talk to me any more because they were starting to doubt if I'm acting in good faith.
I really tried to understand that person's point of view and honestly and objectively compare it with the other side's but they would just mix up various incidents and never provide any proof and now this disrespectful answer? I think I'm starting to understand what's going on here. The server admin told people to stop discussing this and they're still ranting about this alone right now. The place overall is nice and friendly but those people reflect very poorly on it and really ruin the atmosphere sometimes.

I am just sticking to the 3 smaller discords I’m in instead, they’re all run by either me or my closest friends. I always avoid bigger discord servers.
