What are people's musical tastes here?
I am always interested to hear people's opinions on music, especially when it comes to speaking about different genres. It's always interesting to here about other people's musical interest, so please do find time to tell me.
I've always been a bit of a fan of jazz, Latin and mainstream '30s being my favorite. Me and my friends play down at the local pub occasionally, and we do a lot of fusion, and welike to cover video game themes. Just the other day, we did a DOOM medley and a Super Mario Bros. medley, along with a short Zelda medley. The rest of the time we covered bands like The Beatles, Mr. Bungle and The Zimmers. We have to be careful which Mr. Bungle songs we choose to cover as it is a family pub. Sometimes we even have to edit the lyrics if we really want to do the song publically, as we get little kids around the age of six in that pub sometimes.
I always find it interesting to watch covers as well. My personal favorite is Mr. Bungle's Super Mario Bros + RBI Baseball medley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrqxbVE_hbI). Not only is it a good laugh, but it's catchy.
The Beatles have got to be an amazing band. A shame that most of them are dead. A lot of people say that they shouldn't have done 'When I'm 64', but I thought it was quite a good one.
Anyway, shoot.

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
I'm one for trance, symphonic metal and Celtic music myself.
Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
Celtic for the win. :3
I like soundtracks from movies and games a lot, especially from the Pirates of the Caribbean-movies. That's a good example.
Orchestral music, you know, with strings and a huge amount of bass-instruments and drums. It sends shivers down meh spine.
I also like violin in your traditional band, you know, drums, guitars, bass... Throw a violin in and you have a mix of awesome-ness.
Other than that I find a lot of New Age, Irish Drinking songs, Celtic, as mentioned, gothic/melodic metal and some trance and techno on my playlist. And quite a lot of classical too...

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
My musical tastes... Would probably have to be rock, techno, and celtic. I've always held celtic music close to me. It's just so soothing... Especially when I'm having one of those temper days.
While I listen to rock when I feel like I want to punch something. Techno... I dunno why, I just like disco-like music. Heheh...

It always strikes me how many fans of celtic music I seem to meet on the internet, it's so awesome. :3

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
Celtic music is simply beautiful. It doesn't surprise me to see how many people like it. My favorite would have to be 'Lord of the Dance' or 'Lark of the Midnight Aire'. I highly doubt anyone heard of those. (I am very well aware that I spelt 'aire'. I'm not talking about 'air'... Just wanted to make that clear.)
Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
Lord of the Dance is amongst my favourites too. : D Great music, Ronan Hardiman is a genious.
I haven't met a single person who's very fond of celtic music in RL except for my violin instructor, very few even know what it is, so that's why is strikes me, I suppose. xD

I mostly listen to heavy and industrial metal. However, I sometimes listen to pop, mainstream rock, nu metal, punk, neo-classical metal, symphonic metal, thrash/speed metal (I can't really differentiate those), power/epic metal, gothic metal and black metal.

My friend loves Heavy Metal.
And people over here like Celtic music. It's a beautiful masterpiece, that type of music. Listening to it right now, actually.

Now that I think of it, I don't really mind any type of music.

I'm into rock, punk rock, all kinds of metal (I really don't care about those differences everyone is talking about), and some dance/trance tracks.

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
Oh yeah? How about the so called "nu-metal"? It's completely different from thrash for example.. (a lot worse tbh).Newray wrote:all kinds of metal (I really don't care about those differences everyone is talking about)

Re: What are people's musical tastes here?
Yeah you can consider a (big) difference between nu-metal and trash metal, and all the others. But let's say my musical taste is just a little too wide, I just love them all. I can even enjoy listening to Metallica's St.Anger that was considered as real 'thrash' by alot of people..
