Re: Rayman 3 Scores
It'll certainly be a time to remember when we all beat Jona. It's a shame that he's given up, anyway

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I'm still playing TOTL part 1, and I'm getting better at the first combo. I played it almost perfectly (I only missed one lum) and I got 23806 points. I don't think it's possible to get much more on PC.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@Hunchman: I'm sure you will manage it soon.
Well, I reached something 89.500 after Part 2, and now I will start the mission >111.000 again.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
It's interesting to see how the point possibilities for platforms differ so much. There are 7 Hoodlums (I think) so a maximum of 21 Black Lums can be converted if you're playing on PS2, Xbox or Gamecube, whereas only 7 for PC. That's 1400 additional possible points if you're playing on anything but PC. I feel so sorry for you that it's so damn hard but 23800 sounds like a great score going on this. How did the rest of the part go?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
But what did you expect from UbiSoft? Everytime the players who are playin' on PC are disadvantaged
I could be a lot faster, too, with Lums-Bug.
Well, I really want to know, too, what's with the rest of Part 1

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
The lums-glitch is completely unnecessary in TOTL in my opinion. You can get more than enough points without relying on it in any part of the level and in some combos, especially the first one, it's not wise to go for it, as you take the risk of losing the combo or missing the black lums when you go for a lums glitch.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
The first combos in the huge room are really annoying, and I can't combo the hoodstormer in the secret room combo. Don't worry, anyway, as Sfn said it, it's more than enough to get through part 1Xenon wrote:I feel so sorry for you that it's so damn hard but 23800 sounds like a great score going on this. Re: Rayman 3 Scores
To combo the Hoodstormer you have to go all the way to the cage on the upper part but don't open in it. When you're there you can hear the sounds of the Hoodstormer. Return to the first room without taking any gems and weaken the Hoodstormer four times. Then do the combo.
I don't know if MandM used this method in his solution but I think it's the best approach to do this combo.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Thank you for the trick, now I have to find a way to hit that hoodstormer once I get out of that passage.
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
The only problem I encountered with this combo was avoiding the yellow gems on the first journey down. I believe there were two on the slope and I found the nearest one difficult to dodge. In my opinion, it's easy to combo the Hoodstormer (so long as it's weakened obviously) after the last gold gem. You just need to be facing the right direction, and press the appropriate buttons at the correct time.
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
If I remember correctly, it is possible to return to the first room the other way by turning around after having heard the Hoodstormer's sounds and falling down in the room with the crates. It takes a little more time but there is no danger of taking a gem too early.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Interesting, I didn't know there are so many methods to approach the Hoodstormer. Well, for me it was also possible to manage the combo including the two gems on the left platform.
By the way, is a score of 109.500 in SBTC enough? I just want to replay FC (43.000-44.000) but I also want to know what a score for SBTC is.

I'd like to help, but I'm not sure I understand your problem. Enough for what? You started out playing for 112.000 points and in that case 109.500 points is not enough. If you aim for an improvement of your current score, then 109.500 points is enough.mostwanted82 wrote:Interesting, I didn't know there are so many methods to approach the Hoodstormer. If you want to know what a score for SBTC is, then I suggest you look at the walkthrough. It explains how to get either 105.000+ points or 111.500 +/- 500 points. Hope this is helpful.
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I finished the first part of CF with 11079. I missed a few points here and there but it's a good score nontheless. The next thing is the second part and I have to admit that I'm a little bit afraid of the launching glitch as I had troubles with similar things in the past.
@mostwanted: As MandM already said, it depends on what you wanted to get. 109500 is an excellent score, no doubt, but if you went for more then it's not enough. It reminds me a little bit of my situation in TBOM. I'm happy with my score but not entirely satisfied as it is not the score I wanted to get in the beginning.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Making that jump to the upper level is something you don't believe you can do until you have actually succeeded. I tried for many years to jump from the pig and even though being close, I never believed it to be possible. But then one day to my amazement I found myself at the upper level. The next few days I spent trying to repeat it and I found a technique that worked, so I can make the jump regularly now. Actually the jump is very similar to the one in FC part 2 where one has to go back to the first area with the hands available.
Jona later found a way using two pigs. He rolled from one pig into the other and thus got launched high enough into the air to enter the upper level. I guess it works in much the same way as the launching glitch in DOTK part 7, where one can break the cage before killing the Lavicrafts. I have never tried this pig trick myself, but I believe DTUCC made a video of it a long time ago.
Well, the history lesson endeth here.
Good luck with part 2. My favourite part in the entire game.

It will be a long way until I have a chance of finishing CF part 2.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Well, MandM is particle right. It's just one of the greatest glitches, and when you managed the hard combos in this part, you may think: Hey, this wasn't so bad, it makes fun, because it's fun to know, that you have enough now to reach the max and you don't have to play the part anymore.
Be just patient, I annoyed me so much, but I never lost my patience. When you want, I can make a vid of Xenons's method, it's the easiest I think, and it works nearly thrice in 5 minutes.
For the SBTC: I still have now a score of 109.677, when I managed the Launching-Glitch Combo, I hadn't so much points before the Hoodlock, but after a while I thought it's a fair score and I just thought that it was a good improvement. But on the other side, I'm not satisfied (how you said sfn), because I could reached a higher score. I don't think I can play such a level again, I may play FC or LS first for next.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Hehe, that may be true. But I was thinking more about the design. Together with the area in front of the Fairy Tower in FC part 2, the valley in CF part 2 is the most beautiful place in the game. Also, the combos in CF part 2 are just fun to play. In the first room it is possible to combine the objects in so many ways and thus make different combos. And the final Hoodlum Combo is awesome. Is there anything better than killing Hoodlums with an HMF? I always return to this part when I need to relax and play for fun. Of course, jumping is a challenge, but when you have got that right the subsequent combos are fun to play as well.sfn42 wrote:You must be crazy then.
Mostwanted: Congratulations with the score in SBTC. It's a great improvement
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@mostwanted: It would be great if you made a video of Xenon's method, it might help me a lot.
@MandM: The valley is really a beautiful piece of art but the combos bug me, except for maybe the last one, that one is fun to play.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I might be able to make a video of them, but they're not too difficult to do. You just need to be aware of exactly where it is you're aiming to roll, and when exactly to roll off the piggybank you're standing on. I'm not sure if I ever got three going in 5 minutes, but let's just say I found it twenty times easier than the other techniques. Meanwhile I must play part 4!
