School assemblies.

Biggest waste of my time when I was at school.

I remember old school assemblies used to be more of church services than anything else. I don't know whether things have changed now, but I guess it would be in the school's best interest if changes were made.

We never had such things, luckily. My parents did raise me as Christian, but when I grew older they let me decide for myself what I was going to do with it. And I decided that I don't want to be brainwashed, but actually face the facts of our life.

I swear right

Our school had the most batshit History teacher ever. In one assembly he got out a bunch of this odd flower and shouted out "THIS. THIS IS THE SIGN OF LOVE MAKING!" And on another day he prepared a steak and kidney pie on stage and it was gross.

There's an assembly in my school every week. They're so boring that I've just decided to kill somebody during the next one to liven it up.

I liked 'em. They were infrequent yet boring, though I got out of class and didn't have to do anything, so I didn't mind. (For a while--you know--until boredom catches up with you and time starts going about 5X slower.)

I also remember Field Day in middle school. That day was an attempt at a good time though it felt more like sports boot camp than anything fun at all. Sun's out blinding bright, temperatures in the high 90's (Fahrenheit), you're sweating like crazy, and you get to do a different "fun" activity every 15 minutes until the end. Then I realized--schools can't possibly be fun, even if they try to be. I ended up skipping the next 2 Field Days in my subsequent years in middle school, and I was glad to know that I was done with it by high school. Those were my worst moments.

We used to have them, but we don't anymore.
Except on alternate Tuesdays.
I go to a special group, so I miss most of them.

What I deteste so much about school's, is that the badly behaved people get to go on nice trips and have special priviledges, whilst we're given "the freedom to work hard" without them. :pascontent:

For me, I felt that I wasn't as retarded as some people in these groups but I was struggling like fuck in the mainstream.

Some of the misbehaved kids in my old school get rewarded for decent behaviour and good attitude towards learning. Of course, the gaping flaw in this system is that rewards are not given to the children who are always orderly, and hence could make them misbehave IN ORDER to receive rewards. I can't say the rewards were anything amazing, but the theory side to this just fails badly.

Somebody who hasn't been to schhol for almost two years and almost always runs away from classes to smoke, got given a certificate for good behaviour and attendance. :boon: C'mon, now that's just sick.
