Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
IDA gives tons of informations about the Rayman2.exe file, and some things are obvious (like hidden debug functions, etc) ; it's extremely powerful.
I'm actually dealing with my cousin to use his IDA 5.2 Pro to decompile Rayman2.exe, in order to see if there's more information.

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
i think that we should get some software and create like the next generation of RAYMAN GAMES not some rabbids that actualy i dont find funny. Maybe Ubi will let us do it and then the future of rayman lies in our hands.(not theres) We could become like a game disignist. (that always was my dream when i was 7, to direct rayman and help to make new raymans. So if theres lots of people interested then we could make more Rayman games so that Ubi dont ruin them/ to be honest i doubt their gonna make a rayman game any more.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
There where projects to make a Rayman game. But they all failed. People start to lose interest in these things pretty quick. And plus, we don't have really good programmers to write an engine. Because if we want an at least professional looking game we'll have to do it in C/C++.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
get everyone to listen it to a tape wile they sleep then they l know how to do it. your rite people do lose interest i didnt know what we could do bout that....
i know we hypnotyse them or we brain wash them to do it. Any case i think drooli and luna vorex can do c++ im not sure though if they can im sure theyed be good.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Did you simply forget about Fire Under Siege and my game? -_-Joshua822 wrote:There where projects to make a Rayman game. But they all failed.
Of course, my game isn't written in C/C++/C#, but it wouldn't be better at all if it were, because the engine wouldn't be a lot better at all, and it still wouldn't have any 3D graphics ( like most "professional" games ).
Also, I don't know anything about C++. I do know a few things about C and C# though, but I still can't program in any of them.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Yes. But it don't see it as Rayman games seeing you don't actually play as Rayman. There still great games though ^^Did you simply forget about Fire Under Siege and my game? -_-
Using Game Maker for a huge game is quite dumb actually. It's good for learning how to make simple games and the basics. But not for huge games. A huge platforming game like Jak, Ratchet and so on in 3D is not doable. Since GM is way to inefficient for that. Sorry to say it. But it's the truth.
I have a bit of C skills. But not enough to make games i'm afraid
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
True, GM is way to ineffecient for 3D games, but it's okay for 2D games.Joshua822 wrote:Using Game Maker for a huge game is quite dumb actually. Still, I'm already planning ahead for my next game, and that will be one I'll make with XNA ( which uses C# as programming language ). I'm already learning it. ^^
I'm also learning 3D, and by the time MotDS ( which will be renamed AGAIN before the demo comes out, because I don't like the name at all ) is finished, I'll be an expert at 3D. You'll see.
So in a few years, my skills will probably be good enough to create a more "professional" game. Hopefully.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
What is MotDS ?
Though i should encourage you to learn C and C++ too. C# is a bit reliable on the .NET framework. It's not bad, but if you want to develop for none Microsoft devices it might become a pain. C and C++ are independent. So writing games for the Wii, PS3, PSP and NDS will open up for you too !
Well, if you only want to develop for X360 and PC knowing C maybe good too. If you ever want to learn a new programming language it will be very easy if you know C already. A good programmer should always know a couple of languages. So that he can use the right language for the right job
I hope you'll make a 3D game that will stun the world mate

Did you just forget about my game... AGAIN?Joshua822 wrote:What is MotDS ?
But yeah, I'll first learn C#, and if I can do that, I'll learn other languages like C and C++.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
i can speak fluently in 3 languages... im learning my 4th. Have you actualy made a proper game. id like to check it out if you have . were would i find it ?
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Oh... right... Master Of The Dark Sun
But, well, everyone's talking about writing programs directly to mod the games. Why don't we reverse engineer the encryption methods ( LunaVortex is already doing a great job with this ) and then write our own engine that can work with these files. And if we would be able to write our own engine. Think of the huge RayMod projects we can do. Like, for example, make Rayman 3 with a Rayman 2 engine !

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
We don't know the encryption methods.. But the Rayman games have functions thats decrypts files (How should you else see the textures, hear the sounds and so on?), and maybe I can find out what method that do it in the dissemble. But I most learn more about assembler first..Joshua822 wrote:Why don't we reverse engineer the encryption methods ( LunaVortex is already doing a great job with this ) and then write our own engine that can work with these files. First I through that the dll contains decryption methods. But almost all of the dlls is common, you can google them, so I think the methods is hardcoded in the exe.
And I want to run the debugger in IDA on Rayman2. But I only get errors: "Unload the debugger and try again."
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Yes, i know, but you're doing great jobs ! I wish i could help you, but i have zero game hacking experience
But, as i already sad, if we'd figure it out; we could write our own engine. Then our options would be endless ! What do you think about that ? Because then we can do things from modding to even porting Rayman 2 to new consoles like the Xbox ^^

Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
The Xbox isn't new.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
He probably meant Xbox 360, which isn't new either, but it is current-gen.spiraldoor wrote:The Xbox isn't new.
Re: Project: UnLockRay ( ULR / REL )
Nope, i meant it as an example
If we wrote our engine we could port it to all consoles we want !
