Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Aha ha ha ha, scores, such blessings. I don't really pay attention to them as much as my brother does. He's like "Gotta beat the record, gotta be the best". And I'm like "Wtf? There already is a record that couldn't get any better. You don't even know the best ways to score the most points". Aha ha ha, I wish for every 1 point you could earn a quid or something.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Which level are you going to play next?
Anyway I've just given R3 a spin in the PS2 again to try out TTOTL but I still haven't got passed the first main combo. The main problem was touching gems in the spiralling room, which is actually a very annoying mistake to be making. Maybe it's because of my long absence. Got the original green gem combo working in Hoodlum Headquarters though.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Xenon: I assume you try to squeeze as many points out of part 1 as possible. Have you found a way to maximize the number of Lums you convert during the first big combo?
Also, let me know if you try out the 3 Heckler combo for 3.500 points, especially if you succeed. It's hell.
Cut: It's cool you got this amazing score in LS before getting the maximum scores in other much easier levels. By the way, did you get all ten crowns in part 2 in one combo? You know, the crowns on top of the four invisible, moving platforms?
Remember to update your score in HoF.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@Xenon: Do you take all the yellow gems in one come before entering the area with the Hoodlums? It will be necessary if you really try to go for a new maximum.
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@ MandM: Not really to be honest. I'm just converting the Lums at a later time in the hope that they'll provide one or two additional ones. I guess it's just a question of luck really.
By the way, I haven't got onto the Heckler room yet. My memory seems to have gone blank... could you tell me how you would combo these Hoodlums?
@ sfn42: I'm trying to find a way to include the two yellow gems on the wooden platforms, but it's proving to be quite a difficult order. My initial thoughts were to start with the ones on the lower level and somehow get to the ones above, then falling down to get the lone one on the bottom left corner. Dunno if that works though.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
DTUCC developed a way to take all the gems. It begins with all the gems in the upper half and then he falls down and takes the gems on the pillars the other way round. I can't recall the exact way but maybe these two things can help you figure it out.
Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I think it is about luck. I usually convert a Lum from a previous Hoodlum after hitting an Elite Monger five times. It seems to give me one, two or three Lums at random.
The 3 Heckler combo goes like this: Hit them all so one more hit will kill them. Make the Heckler that wanders around stand close to the HMF near boxes (you have left the Pig on the left intact). Refresh the HMF and get the four yellow gems as you climb the boxes. Fall down after the fourth gem and hit the Pig on the way down. Charge your fist and quickly kill the Heckler. Convert the Black Lum and renew the HMF and run towards the two remaining Hecklers while charging your fist. Kill the first of the two and convert the Lum. Kill the last one and convert the Lum. Now, if either the first or the second (or both) Heckler gives you at least two Lums, the last Heckler is worth 1.500 points in combo and the total combo is worth 3.500+ points.
It requires patience to make the Heckler stand in the right position. Another idea came to me yesterday as I was playing for fun. Maybe one can do the same, but with the Hoodoos instead? After killing the Hecklers a Hoodmonger protected by two Hoodoos appears. One can weaken each Hoodoo with one shot with the HMF. It could be possible to kill the first of them after the Pig? If so, each of them is worth 1.000 points points in combo and with three or more Lums combined from the two Hoodoos, the Hoodmonger will be worth 600 points in combo.
The net gain from this combo will be 1.200 points since you use the Pig that usually is used for the first Heckler and since you already get 500 points in combo from the second Hoodoo. The net gain from the 3 Heckler combo is 1.500 points, so it's a little less but maybe easier?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
That bloody first Hoodmonger Officer is such a Doctor Jekyll/Mr Hyde... sometimes he's so easy to kill instantaneously but other times he just wrecks the combo by simply running passed Rayman. This Hoodlum is the single largest source of combo destruction in TTOTL. Argh.
@ sfn42: I think it's impossible to take the gems on the pillars in reverse order. For most of those gems, it's impossible to reach them even when jumping, so the chance of comboing them all together is very improbable. Even if this motion was possible, you're then faced with the conundrum of how to reach the upper level to obtain those gems in time. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure if collecting all of the gems is even possible. The only alternative way I see would be to start with the gem on the rising platform thing, get the gems on the grill, quickly fly over to the gems on the opposing grills and continue on to collect the gems on pillars clockwise. That's a very ambitious sequence though.
@ MandM: Thanks very much for that explanation. I realised it upon playing part 1 again this morning. ^^ Its obvious drawback is the ridiculously short period of time the HMF powerup provides. Still I reckon this combo would be essential if I go for 60k+ after part 1, so practising would really be needed.
It's an interesting idea to use the Hoodoos instead of the Hecklers... but again there's the huge issue with the HMF's time window. And in this case you would not really be able to reload the power unless you were really quick indeed. I believe using the Hecklers would not only be a lucrative alternative but also an easier one. Have you tried it with the Hoodoos though, I wonder?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I can't look up DTUCC's exact method because right now I have no access to the solution he wrote but maybe you could ask him via Youtube? He might even produce a video of this section that could help you tremendously.
I wonder about your problem with the first Hoodmonger Officer, though, as I've never had real problems with that guy (in most cases it was the final Hoodmonger that bugged me). Maybe you should change your approach, e.g. stand somewhere else or shoot him earlier/later. It is often the wrong technique that ruins a combo.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I've tried to contact DTUCC via Youtube before but I always receive no reply. Is he no longer active at the German forums?
I think the problem I have with the Elitemonger is timing. In order for the electrocution to work immediately shots need to be fired as soon as the red target appears. This is my blemish as I often fire shots too late, thus the Hoodlum has sufficient time to overtake me and dodge my shots (which somehow get deflected onto another Hoodlum..).

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@Xenon: At first, I try to play BOM for 83000 (two hits at Razoff)/88000 (three hits at Razoff). If I did that, I will have 768000-783000. Then I play LOTLD for the maximum score (786000-791000). For some extra-points I play HH after that for 103000 (789000-794000). If that is done, I will play FC for 35000-36000 (791500-796500). After I made ALL these tings, I play at the end, the most fucking hell of R3: SUMMIT BEYOND THE CLOUDS FOR 104500!!!!! (816500-821500!!!)
Let's have a look at my scores, after I made my big challenge:
FC: 36000
CF: 102200
BOM: 83000/88000
LOTLD: 119599
DOTK: 109769
LS: 43100
SBTC: 104500
HH: 103000
TOTL: 104499
You see: There are two very bad levels: CF and FC. So I planed everything until 830000, what I will have to do^^

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
Xenon: I guess you mean the first Elite Monger in the big combo, right? I always electrocute him as he comes running along the wall to the arena. It never fails. After you kill the Hoodmonger and the Hoodblaster, move to the right and wait for him to arrive while charging your fist. The Elite Monger in the big room after the crates is harder to hit after the Pig.
I haven't tried the Hoodoo combo yet. But I agree with you that it is a challenge to renew the HMF. Don't know if it can be done.
Who will be the first to reach 60.000 points in TOTL part 1? Anyone up for the challenge?

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@Xenon: DTUCC hasn't been very active on the German forums lately. It doesn't matter, though, as they are temporarily shut down due to server transfer. However, you should still contact him, since he mentioned that he read your message.
@Cut: I've already told you, you can't plan every step. Sometimes things just happen in a good or in a bad way and you have to make the best of it.
@MandM: No, thanks. I always did poorly with the Hecklers and the other stuff in that room and I can't see myself ever trying your horrid version of the Heckler-combo.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
@ Cut: You're progressing nicely. Be sure to enter your newest score in the Pirate-Community HOF.
@ MandM: Actually I didn't have too much of a problem with that, hehe. I did need to think about Rayman's foot movements, though, as one false move can result in a hit that would ruin the combo.
Also I tried the Heckler combo and I see what you mean. It took me almost ten minutes to manoeuvre the moving Heckler towards to crates as he kept getting stuck between two pillars. Damn, it does seem like a tall order this. Still considering I need the points I don't seem to have any other alternative.
And yes I accept this challenge (although I can't promise to succeed), but I have no competitors!
@ sfn42: After some thought, I think the only way to do this combo would be to start on the grill (above the entrance), move along collecting the gems on the platforms, quickly jump to get the gem on the moving thing, again quickly jump onto the grill, collect the gems on the ceiling, fall all the way down to the gem on the last pillar and continue travelling clockwise around the room until you reach the entrance again. Do you reckon this was DTUCC's method? There is an 'easier' way, but I don't think it's possible to make a combo that involves moving anti-clockwise as one of the gems simply isn't accessible.

Re: Rayman 3 Scores
I tried the Heckler combo again yesterday and it also took me about ten minutes to get the Heckler in the right position. But it is possible to make him stand near the HMF can. After that, the hard thing is of course falling down, hitting the Pig and then get him in combo. The rest is easy as pie. I have only played this combo a few times, but maybe there is an easy way to make him stand in the right position? It will save a lot time if that is so.
I also so tried the Hoodoo combo and failed miserably. The Hoodmonger's erratic behaviour ruined it every time. He quite simply runs into you and all is lost.
I'm not sure I will seriously go for 60.000 points in part 1. Unless of course there will be eight weeks of showers and thunderstorms in the summer.
Have you figured out how to take the yellow gems in the first room? I'm not sure if every gem actually means getting the one on the ledge at the top exit as well? If so, you either have to start there or get it in combo by using the hook. Doesn't sound doable to me.
