Try to up your game a bit. Go for a maximum score. You'll find that TDOTK (minus part 7) is an ideal world to start with as most of the combos are downright easy. If you can jump over the Knaaren in part 1, you're bound for high-percentage scoring.

TDOTK was the first level in which I achieved a maximum score and I was surprised at how simple it was. And this was prior to having any scoring skills.

I do. It's something I've been doing for a long time.

@Xenon: I think it's the wrong approach to go for a maximum straight away. Try to do it slowly. Include a few new combos every time you play a level and learn the level step by step. That way you can keep motivation high and avoid frustration.

I disagree with you on that one. Getting the maximum score in TDOTK was challenging as a beginner, but it gave me the confidence I needed to proceed... it also gave me motivation to aim for maximum scores in other levels. I think of it as more of a shortcut to success.

It really depends on the player's style, I think. I got my first maximum with about 780000 (and that was in TLOTLD) and I know I couldn't have done it earlier. It would have just frustrated me to no end if I had tried. In the end I would probably have stopped playing or settled with a lower score. And getting the maximum in DOTK once was a real challenge - before MandM invented the 2 Green Gem-combo in part 7. I got the 109000 with it but before that I scored 105500 without it and that was not so easy.

Well, it's not easy. It took me quite a long time to figure it out. I tried various other ways of passing him with the Lockjaw, and there are other ways. I just never managed to find the right spot. I suggest you try to experiment how to do it.

However, you can improve quite a bit even without passing the Knaaren with the Lockjaw. What really will count are the secret rooms in part 2 and part 4. In part 2 you can take the green gem after all the other gems to make it count 9.000 points in combo. And in part 4 the are two green gems. If you are careful to take the first green gem after as many yellow and red gems as possible, you can make a combo worth more than 14.000 points.

Part 7 is a hard part. But it is all covered through videos. You can use those as inspiration to make your own combos in this part.

It depends on your ambitions and how patient you are. It will take you years rather than months to enter top 5. All top 5 players have played for many years.

Congratulations! How many points did you have after HH part 1?

As for DOTK it seems you can improve mainly in part 7 then. There are two green gems in this part. How many points do you get them for in your combos?

@All: After I did this SBTC-stuff, I will try to get the following scores:

FC: 42.000
CF: 109.759/89
BOM: 101.199
LS: 43.700
HH: 109.009

Please tell me, what is important to do at first and what is too much for first.

@raywiz: You seem pretty fond of HH. I was too when I had a total score similar to yours. Playing HH was always a nice challenge. The combos are difficult, no matter what your goal is, but they are managable and HH is one of the levels where you need skill to succeed and not some lucky punch (like in TBOM with the Razoff glitch).

Oh yeah sfn, you must be the nice guy, who loves the Razoff-Glitch, aren't you?

I hope, this Razoff-Quadruple-Glitch wouldn't be as hard as all the others say, because for 101.199 points, I will need it. I won't have any patience to play a perfect 6th part, this is just crap, because I hate it. It's shitty enough, that I need a 1200-combo at the end, this would be enough for my patience, because I think, it's hard. The trouble is, that I NEVER did a combo higher than 400 before (without this one lucky hit when I got 90312, where I got a 1200-combo, but this was only for fun, because it didn' matter, if he fell down from his ball, cause I knew that this was the last hits I could do). How does MandM say: Just be patient

Part 6 is one of my least favourite levels in the entire game - this is why I've always adjourned playing TBOM for the extra 800 points. But hoping for a quadruple Razoff glitch is perhaps on a whole new level. We aren't even sure if it's possible to hit Razoff a further four times, but even if it were possible it would take months to trigger. I would strongly recommend NOT going for it. Aim for a more realistic target: 99999.

@ Raywiz: Congratulations. Personally I never had any trouble passing the Knaaren in the corridor... I actually managed to jump over it both times when replaying part 1 (it only took two attempts).

I like part 6. Although playing for 16000+ points would be horrible there (I don't even want to think about 17000). The quadruple conversion in part 5 is still more of a myth to me. DTUCC is the only player to ever manage it and even that was pure luck. I think I'd go crazy just trying it and there is still the possibility that it only works on GC.

I used to do jona's way of getting past the Knaaren but recently I've grown more accustomed to MandM's. The jump is definitely the easiest method because it doesn't involve the Knaaren hitting Rayman. @raywiz: Just study the video MandM made and practice a little - it will be a piece of cake very soon.

Oh. I wasn't aware DTUCC had already triggered it. Still would it make a difference to the maximum score? Wouldn't you need a quintuple Razoff glitch to break the 100799 barrier?

Anyway I've finished TDOTK with 109629. Sadly I lost the patience to go for the absolute maximum. I'll re-enter my score in the HOF now.
EDIT: And I failed. Apparently my score must be <100. I'll give Hunchman a tinkle about it.

We would need to hit Razoff six times to raise the bar in TBOM and that is definitely impossible. The quadruple conversion only makes part 6 a lot easier.

Congrats on your improvement, btw. Getting 109629 is not hard but it's still a great feeling to have one lum transformed, eventually. What is your total score now?

Well done. It is hell to play for the maximum score.

You just need a double glitch (three hits) to get the maximum score in BOM. Four or five hits will add nothing to that. It is however quite hard to reach 100.799, or 101.199 points with just the double glitch.

Thank you both. My score stands at 848967 I believe, but I'm stumped at which level to play next.

TFC is the world in which I could make the most significant improvement, but I just hate it. Part 1 makes me feel sick and part 3 is just outrageously difficult.

Yeah, those red Lums are just murder

Anyway, you are only a whisker away from the big 850k. Can you find the missing points in one level or will you have to spread out your effort on more levels?
