The part that comes up when you search for things like '"moor of mad spirits" "umber swamp"'.

They bubbled up to the surface of my mind from the vast depths of my subconscious.

~I came across them somewhere a couple of years ago and just remembered them yesterday.

And you don't remember where that was? If you had just said that in the first place we would have avoided this argument.

Argument? You call this an "argument"?

~Anyway, "The Temple of the Grand Minimus" is a better name that "The Longest Shortcut".

I agree. The Longest Shortcut represents Ubi's decline into sarcastic humour. The Temple of the Grand Minimus keeps that Rayman atmosphere.

I also like its Rayman 2-continuity, in that its name contains that of a Rayman 2 character. Same for the Umber Swamp, really.

The Deadlands, the Moor of Mad Spirits and the Umber Swamp are all part of something called "The Underlands", which is an area in the nether-regions of Rayman's world (I assume it's in the curiously blank, eastern part of the Glade, which is only known to contain the Tomb of the Ancients, according to the map). Hmm.

"The Summit of Fury" sounds awesome, but "The Summit Beyond the Clouds" is a better name for a Rayman level, I think.

I also prefer "Hoodlum Meddleworks" to "Hoodlum Headquarters". "The Forest of Clear Leaves" and "Clearleaf Forest"...I could go either way.

The following quote is found on a whole bunch of websites, and is very pro-R3, so I think it's an old official announcement from Ubisoft:
Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc, takes our hero Rayman on an epic journey through beautiful living worlds filled with fabulous flora and fauna (that's plants and animals to you and me). Featuring the most diverse worlds you've ever seen in a platform game, from the icy cliffs of the Summit of Fury, to the bitter wasteland Moor of Mad Spirits, it'll take all of your skills to traverse the different environments. Check the new screens showing off some of the environments.

Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc starts with a single lum gone bad, transforming all of the lums in the universe dark. The resulting chaos threatens the lives of all of the creatures in Rayman's world, and the very balance of good versus evil. Globox's untimely swallowing of The Dark Lum Lord, makes for an interesting first quest as Rayman must locate three Teensie doctors to cure our friend Globox. The first leg of the adventure pulls Rayman through lush forests, dark and eerie swamplands and a scorching desert on his way to the ultimate confrontation with The Dark Lum Lord.

Check out below for descriptions of some of the worlds you'll travel through in this groundbreaking, immersive, cartoon fantasy, action, platforming game.

Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc Worlds:

Fairy Council : It all starts here. This mystical forest kingdom is home to the Heart of the World, and the Hoodlums can't wait to get their grubby mitts on it. Time for Rayman to start cleaning up this neighborhood.

The Umber Swamp: This uncharted marshland lies in the nether-realms of Rayman's world. It's home to a slew of fiendish flora and fauna - not to mention anti-social witches and egomaniacal musketeers.

Moor of Mad Spirits : Scarred by cruel winds and crushing storms, this bitter wasteland doesn't take kindly to visitors, especially adventuring types like Rayman. More than one tale has been whispered about a phantom race of creatures imprisoned within this haunted Moor.

Hoodlum Meddleworks : Constructed from spare parts, bits of machinery, and plentyof Hoodlum elbow grease, the Hoodlum Meddleworks is the production center for all Hoodlum munitions. It's also where the Hoodlums covet their treasured Plum Juice recipe.

Forest of Clear Leaves : Once it was bustling with life. Now, this lush woodland is overrunwith hordes of no-good Hoodlums. They've built up towers, bunkers, and other obstacles to make Rayman's trip here anything but a walk in the park.

Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc Key Features:

* Challenging Tactical Arcade Combat: Fight huge transforming bosses and whole armies, with more than 20 different types of enemies, including the Hoodlums, Evil Dark Lums, and the savage Knaaren, each with advanced AI and specific strengths and combat strategies.
* Diverse, High-Action Gameplay: Face the unknown around every turn with an all-new time-based power system, imaginative means of transportation and intense 3D vertigo platforming action.
* A Living, Immersive World: Journey through an extravagant living universe, where each land has its own personality - from magical worlds to the dark and uncharted Underlands, including the Swamp, the Moor and the Deadlands.
* Deep, Unique Storyline: An epic, dark, cartoon fantasy adventure of the wildest imagination- filled with a crazy cast of characters in a living world, with surprises around every bend!
* A Next-Gen Rayman: Upgraded character design to maximize the potential of the next-generation hardware - 200 animations within the Rayman character, enhanced Double-Fist throwing action, and amazing new powers for the added punch needed to wreak havoc on the Hoodlums.
* Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc is scheduled to ship to U.S. retail shelves in Spring 2003, for all platforms.
It's interesting stuff. You'll notice that it makes reference to the story of the Griskins and the Great Spirit Palmito.

I think I've seen other-language versions of this announcement, which, when translated, have slightly different information. One of them says that the Griskins have been imprisoned for "millennia", which could help us find the age of Rayman's world, perhaps. I must look into this some more.

I also remember there was a beta power (Or Combat Fatigue) for Rayman, he had flesh on the entire hand except the fingers, which were metalic. Or this maybe could be the Beta-HeavyMetal Combat Fatigue.

Yeah, no references to the previous games. It was used as a menu to access information about the different levels in the official website.

Was it an island, or what? Could you see the sea beyond the edges of the map? Was the map called "The Crossroads of Dreams", or just "Rayman's World"?

It seems there's an official R3 strategy guide. Anybody have it?
