Music in Rayman Gold under XP

Post by Guy123 »

Hi,
I bought rayman gold and downloaded the bonusweb(something) patches, and the music gets a lil bit wrong placed! Not such a big deal but for examle when im playing through the dream forest and starting a new level its always this happy superlame theme(the first song you hear) that starts at the beginning of every forest level(except for the mosquito fights), very annoying. Its not like that on the GBA version or the youtube vids!! And its pretty wierd when the mosquito chases you with the big spiky fruit thing and the lame music appears... xD
Sooo.. Does someone knowow to change this? something in the dosbox settings maybe?and i dont know how to operate dosbox.

It's UbiSoft's fault. They merged all the music pieces for each world into one track in Rayman Gold.

No, since the engine is coded to use the 19 merged tracks.

Rayman Forever is the same, but the tracks have been shortened and Dream Forest music has been replaced by Caves of Skops music. :fou2:

Wtf?!? Thats odd...xD
So the only solution to have the music in right order is to buy the game to the ps1? Wich also would work on the ps2, right?

The PC version reeks of rushedness. (even though that's not a word)

It doesn't have as many sprites as the PSX version and it doesn't have special music either. At least it's not glitchy like the Jag version.

The PC version also appears to use the low-resolution, single-layer backgrounds, though I think there's a way to play it with the proper ones? And it used crap sound effects, most notably with Tings making a 'pop' noise instead of a 'ting' noise.

The Jaguar version is terrible compared to the others. It's incredibly unpolished.

Some of the glitches in the Jaguar version are quite exploitable actually :bad:

Eh I never really bothered getting the music to work at all in Rayman Gold, in fact my copy didn't even have music tracks!

That will never make up for the completely broken ledge-grabbing system.

True. Case in point would be the very end of the first part in Gong Heights where normally I breeze through it, but there I had a LOT of trouble grabbing on to that final cloud ledge.

There's a vid on my YouTube channel explaining how.

Thanks, I forgot that one. :)

Yeah, Focus Multimedia forgot to put the music in the UK release. :tssk:

And there's the bizarre lack of sliding. I think they originally intended to include it, but had to remove it from the final Jaguar version for some reason; the way they've shoehorned a bunch of clouds for Rayman to cross large gaps with and enemies to replace the challenge of controlling Rayman on the slippery surfaces is just too strange for it to have been the original plan, then for the added sliding to work so perfectly in the disc-based versions.

Tell me, is the music in the PC version as bad as the sound effects? I've never had a copy of it with the music working, so I wouldn't know.

No, the music is the same CD quality as the PSX and Saturn versions.
