Re: Lore thread
I'd say a Knaaren is never invincible (just very protected!), but it gets weaker as its weapon does.
Re: Lore thread
I think that would be the more sense making thing too
Maybe that's also why they seem to each other really much ? ( As seen in the drawings on the walls of the tunnels of the Knaaren, where the Knaaren chase away the teensies. )Spiral also said that Knaarren tend to be evil, and teensie's good.
Actually, Knaarren's live in the desert, and the Teensie's always live in watery places, you can see alot of water in the Longest Shortcut, and windmills.
So, Knaarren's like Fire and live underground.
And Teensie's like water and live on the surface.
It's like they're the opposite.
Re: Lore thread
But they also have paintings of them carrying teensies, hanging upside down and tied onto a large stick they carry. This implies they may eat Teensies, but since Teensies barely ever come there, unless captured in cages, they must be more of a delicacy.

Re: Lore thread
What is there to eat in the DOTK? Those rats, of course, and... rats...
And then when the occasional treat comes along, it's a Teensie - a tiny little morsel of flesh. The Knaaren have it really bad. No wonder they indulge in such violent activities.

Re: Lore thread
Wouldn't be surprised.
Re: Lore thread
Well, maybe they have some underground food store, and the Knaaren get their food at the other end of the tunnels once in a while ( the tunnels were made to cross the desert, after all
).
But then, of course, the question remains: exactly what do they eat ? I think we can assume that they like to eat Teensies (
) once in a while based on the paintings on the walls of the tunnels, but for the rest I think it's a question we'll never be able to answer
.

Re: Lore thread
It's curious how skinny they look. But their arms aren't so skinny at all.
Re: Lore thread
I think that's just their body's build. They look quite muscular.

Re: Lore thread
I think I have a slightly better way of putting it: the Heart of the World has a magical aura which envelops the Glade of Dreams. It constantly generates energy, which spreads throughout the Glade of Dreams and condenses itself into Purple Lums, Blue Lums and Red Lums. Fairies are capable drawing on this aura in order to create Silver Lums.Spanex wrote:That makes better sense than my idea.spiraldoor wrote:I think it’s very likely that the Heart of the World (which is made purely of Yellow Lums) continues to constantly churn out Red, Blue and Purple Lums.
Whenever the Heart is stolen or broken, it is unable to produce energy. If it remains stolen/broken for a long time, the energy field it normally sustains begins to fade away. This means that Red/Blue/Purple Lums begin to grow rarer, and fairies can no longer simply draw on the Heart’s worldwide energy aura to create Silver Lums, but have to spend long periods of time scavenging for the aura’s remnants in order to do so. I suppose the radiation of the two suns might start having a stronger effect, too.
Polokus draws his power from the Lums (which, having created him, must be the source of his power anyway). He says ‘On earth, the Lums make me invincible. But in the air, I am as vulnerable as a new-born.’ This makes me think that the Heart’s aura doesn’t extend very far above the surface of the earth. Or at least, not high enough to reach the Buccaneer.
Re: Lore thread
That's a good theory. But if the 'protective aura field' is really that low above the ground, and it does protect them against the two suns (I think they're just colder than our sun, to be honest. it IS possible. Either that or their planet is further away.) then it must be really warm inside the buccaneer...
Also, may I note that most mountains top the height the ship is at, and there is snow up there.

Re: Lore thread
Maybe that's why there's lava on the ship?

Sorry to go off topic, but...
just...read it...
Maybe this explains the TV series?

Re: Lore thread
It doesn't explain the snow on the mountains though, which are obviously higher than the ship is.ParadoxJuice wrote:Maybe that's why there's lava on the ship?
