Ahh yes, I found ya on there. It's good to know where to find a person on there if I ever leave this site for some reason. :D

Man, it'd be fun to contribute this, but I can't help at all in terms of coding, you've already got an artist, and unfortunately the only skill I've seemed to demonstrate so far is my ability to write ridiculously long walls of text... :boon:

Wellll, this is awkward. :oops2:

Oh well. All the same, it'll be interesting to see updates on this project. I remain skeptical over the legal issues and Ubisoft ever being involved, but... hey, I'm a skeptical person, don't let it get in the way of your dream. Good luck with everything. =)

Thanks then. =)

Well Raygirl13 seems to be really busy right now with her own stuff, University and things, so I can't ask much from her right now. Probably in the end it'll be my own artwork which I'm thoroughly working on. It's actually coming along.

I know there are people who want to help, and I'd like them to feel like they can, but I need to find things they can help with that's something I wouldn't want to do myself. :oops2:

I'm sure there will be something.

EDIT:

OMG I have 768 posts, that's directly between 2^9 and 2^10! :mrgreen: Also, you smaller monitor people may notice that your resolution is 1024x768.

Ahhh, alrighty. Maybe sometime you could show us some concept artwork or things for the game in this thread, too? Just a thought. :wink: I'm quite partial to concept art and such myself, it's my favorite kind of bonus content you can find in games and such... heh.
I know there are people who want to help, and I'd like them to feel like they can, but I need to find things they can help with that's something I wouldn't want to do myself. :oops2:

Aw yeah, I know what you're getting at there. You have it envisioned in your mind how you want to do something, so if someone else did it it'd turn out different than what you imagined or what you want, right? Some things are better to do yourself, that's definitely true; it keeps the general 'flavor' of the game to be what you intend it to be. Just remember not to tackle too much stuff at once... :oops2:

Yep... I'm sure you'll find something at some point, if nothing else maybe something like people for 'beta testing' or feedback on it when it's finally closer to its finished form. If you ever want help on touching up the story or giving feedback on what you've got planned, that's something I could definitely help on. I have a habit of using too many run-on sentences at times, I admit, but overall I'd like to think I have a good grasp over the English language. I know quite a bit about storytelling and writing as well, so if you ever need help in that sense as an editor, I'm sure I'd be happy to help. :mryellow:

Whoa! It's awesome that you can recognize such a number from things like that when most people wouldn't pay attention to them at all. That's certainly interesting! :)

Alright, here's a sketch-version of Raygirl saving Rayman that Raygirl13 did. It's not the full res version for RaymanPC's sake.

@Rayfist:

Well it'll always run best on a lower resolution. That's just the way things work.

Ooh. I love the expressions on their faces. XD It's easier to envision that old script-thing you wrote now. Which is good, that's how you know when concept art does its job right. :mryellow:

@Rsandee: You're kind of on the right track.

@alfman:
I know, but it's a problem that's extremely hard to fix. I don't have any software to fix it precisely with, so I just have to all at once re-record the whole drum track and have it pre-quantized the best I can.

@wariofan:
Actually, if you look at the "trailer" (it's either further back on this thread, or you could look at my uploads) at the beginning it actually shows a scene of Dark Rayman raising the clouds. That's the cutscene that includes the "thunder rise" soundtrack.

How the battle phases go:

The level before the battle is called "Darklands (Wip)". You walk into his mountainside fort, and you're on the interior of the mountain. From there you walk along his suspended platforms (deep crevasse below) and through his machinery (like test life-support systems for people/experiments). Basically Dark Rayman is taking the souls from people who he imprisoned in liquid cryogenics (so their souls remain) to feed off them for himself so he gets their power. Then as you're walking, you walk onto one platform which suddenly descends like an elevator and you find yourself in a large octagon room with stairs and different levels. That's when you hear "heartbeat" drum beats and the camera pans around Rayman, then suddenly Dark Rayman lands right in front of him and punches Rayman and he goes sliding halfway across the room and hits a wall.

That's where you get back up and have a standard ray-fight (phase one). Then, you see Raygirl come on Moskette with a golden fist which she tosses and lands on the high-platform. You both then race for it. If he gets it, there's a WiP alternate ending in the works, or he kills you and you start over. If you get it,it goes into a scene where he tackles you, he steels it from you, he charges up a shot while still on the ground with you, misses you, and it hits the wall and blasts it open. Raygirl and Moskette are watching. Suddenly , Dark Rayman throws you way into the outside outside. He looks up, super wall-jumps up to Raygirl and Moskette at lightning speed, and imprisons them in a floating platform with a cell on the bottom for them, then chases after you. This is where phase two starts.

You are both outside, and you're running away from Dark Rayman as he's flying toward you, hurling golden fist shots at you from above, which kill you if you touch them (the damage is like Rayman 2 style), and when they hit the ground, make explosions with shockwaves you need to jump over. The camera is also facing backwards, so the camera is moving backwards, always looking at Rayman's face. The hurling shots are in-time with the phase 2 music. Eventually, you reach the base of the huge pillar, where you get cornered, and Dark Rayman fires one more shot (it goes into a side-view) and it blasts you in slow-motion onto the base of the pillar. You then see him fly upwards and into the swirling clouds (they rotate around the pillar).

So now, you have to climb the pillar (Dark Pillar Ascent) with the rain pouring down, and you find things such as the floating helicopter platforms like in Rayman 2, and cloud platforms, and waterfalls, and more. The cool part about this, is that the clouds are a realistic height from the ground, so as you get higher, the 3D volumetric clouds get closer, and eventually you break through the top (right near the top) and the rain and music is gone.

All you can hear is the wind blowing deeply across the clear dawn sky. Them when you reach the top (the top of the pillar is in the trailer), it plays the Phase three music. You see Dark Rayman staring off the edge of his pillar platform (just look at something like the background of part nine), you run up to him saying things like "You coward! Can't you see what you're doing??" Then you see him charge up his shot in both hands (it's all green instead of all gold, the shots, and his hands are silver), and he fires them backwards, and you dodge. As the battle begins, the music keeps playing. Basically like the first battle, except he has super-fists, and the pillar can be destroyed a bit with each shot he shoots. Then once you damage him enough, you see Moskito rushing in from behind you to help. You jump on Moskito, and Dark Rayman smirks, looks down, and does the trailer cutscene, with the "Thunder Intro" music.

The then hops on his prison-platform and you fight in phase four, with phase four music. It's an epic aerial battle between the two layers of clouds, where lightning randomly strikes in between in columns. You both shoot rays off of your flying things, yours Moskito, his, his prison platform thing. Then, once you've depleted his health, you're supposed to fly towards him and it goes in the cutscene and has "The Final Blow" music playing. It shows you charging towards Dark Rayman, charging up with cool camera angles focused on your hand's power, and it's a button prompt to hold down and let go the fire button to charge up and shoot, and if done successfully, you can hear the energy blast hit sound in the soundtrack actually, and you blast it right into his face, sending him spinning down, falling and twisting and flipping backwards until he falls through the bottom cloud layer. While you see him falling (from Rayman's point of view, right above his head looking down), it does the piano-glissando heard in the same Final Blow soundtrack.

Then after all that, you see the sun rays come up from dawn and pierce through the clouds. You see the floating platform, and the "Freedom" music starts playing. You fly to it, and it goes into the calm music part as you open the cage and let Raygirl and Moskette out, who then fly along side you. Then, when the music comes back into the fast-paced stuff, you see huge one-eyed robots rising up (kind of like the ones in Monsters VS Aliens), and gameplay returns. You can Raygirl each charge up at the same time when you hold down the fire button in each other's hands, and shoot "mega" shots at the robot defenses and they blow up with each shot as one after the next rises, each gets taken down with you two at once, to show that you're unbeatable. Then when the music fades off, it shows you flying towards the sunrise.

That's when it does the exit Dream Forest cutscene which I haven't thought out too well yet.
I'm Thinking Rayman and Dark Rayman Fighting in "The Void" Which will Destroy Rayman's World and Turn everything into Dark Rayman's World,So the Pillar Rises to the Sky and then the battle Starts,if that Won't be the end of the game,Then Rayman would plummet to the Dream Forest (Or as i'd Call it,the Nightmare Forest)

So rayfan if you had to give a percentage on how close you were completing what would it be?
And is it going to be easy like rayman 3 or hard?

I'm Thinking about a Concept for a Sequel to Revenge of the Dark...well,More of a Final Installment in the whole Series-Idea.
That's why most of my ideas for Revenge of the Dark are Lackluster,I'm paying more Attention to this New Rayman-Game idea.

The Developer Would be Rayfan and it will be a 2.5D Game (3D Models playing on a 2D Plane)

I'm thinking that the name Would be: Rayman X

It's going to have it's easy and hard parts. :) Probably a little harder than the rest. Not by too much though.

And I'd say I'm maybe around 10% complete. Of course I'm not going at a steady pace, and it's gonna get faster later on.

Ah, what I have missed... :P I'll just comment on the stuff I find interesting.
The Raygirl13 sketchies are a-lovely, I've always loved her style; although I'm not the hugest fan of *excuse the pun* fan-characters (well, unless they poke fun at themselves), this looks like it'll work really well.
Anyhoo, the fight sounds well structured - a tad long, but that's something desperately needed in a world filled with inconsequential boss battles and disappointing end cutscenes (might I recommend adding 'A Winner Is You' at the end of the alternate ending? :wink: ), and I think the Final Blow is a good finish. The music as well - you just keep getting better and better! :D The Final Blow track is gorgeous pie indeed.

Thanks! :D

The fight you could say might take about 3-4 minutes per phase maybe? The last flying one would be the longest, probably around 4-5 minutes. These are assuming you're going at a medium-good playing skill. Basically, the health system works like Rayman 2. You can get normally hit, which just makes you lose health, if you fall off a cliff or something or he hits you with something that makes you evaporate (or whatever Rayman does) then you start at the beginning of the phase. If you lose all your health, you go back to the beginning of the level which is the little trek before the battle.

"A winner is you" sounds interesting. I'll have to think *aboot that. :oops2:

*South Park's Terrance & Phillip Canadian pronunciation of "about". I'll be saying aboot from now on since I'm Canadian.

And I've decided how the alternate ending works.
In the final stage, when you stun him and go up to him for the final blow, if you miss the prompt, Dark Rayman deflects it just in time. Then you all go flying back and land on the top of the pillar. The shot goes up into the clouds and completely electrifies the storm. Lightning starts striking everywhere. It strikes the pillar, and the edge crumbles. It then shows Moskito grab onto the cell that Raygirl and Moskette are in. They all shout and call "Raaayman!!!" You and Dark Rayman are both struggling to get up as lightning strikes everywhere. You look up and yell "Moskito, take them away from here!" Then lightning strikes beside Moskito and them, and they flinch back to the side. "But Rayman, what about you??" And you say "I'll take this devil down by myself as it was meant to be!" You and Dark Rayman both slowly get up. Lighting strikes again, and this time hits right between you and Dark Rayman. The door rumbles, then pieces start to fall. The pillar begins to collapse. "Rayman!!!!" They shout. "Go now! Please, go now, everything will be okay!!" and then you and Dark Rayman both run at each other and collide in mid-air, just as the floor drops beneath them. Again, Moskito Raygirl and Moskette call after him. It shows them land on a lower space directly in the middle. Rayman and Dark Rayman face each other. Moskito Moskette and Raygirl could no longer see Rayman. Lightning struck all around them and they flew away."I'm putting an end to this now!" Rayman says as he charges up his shot. "No, wait, wait!" Dark Rayman suddenly widens his eyes. Rayman blasts it directly to the ground, making the centre of the pillar collapse first. He and Dark Rayman plummet straight down into the dark, and the screen fades black, then to white.

the screen fades in with Raygirl riding Moskette, and Moskito beside them. The credits play during their ride back to the Dream Forest, so throughout the credits, you get to watch them fly through the levels backwards. Then when they reach the Dream Forest, they land and bring the news, and it does one of those things like "even though he's not with us anymore, he was the greatest thing that ever happened to us and he should be remembered". Not nearly exactly that, it's just one of those things.

The frame stills, and then a book closes as if the last frame was a page in a storybook. It zooms out to see Raygirl holding the book sitting on the edge of a bed, and beside her, it shows their son lying under the covers. Then he says "That was a great story, momma." Then Raygirl rubs his head and he smiles. "He truly was the bravest of us all." She chuckled. "Good night, my little Rayman." she says as she turns off the light and closes the door. Right before it shuts, he says "I'm going to be just like him when I grow up!" And she replies "I'm sure you will, I'm sure you will". She smiles and closes the door, and it fades white.

Alright so that's that, and I'll surely revise the normal ending to make it more epic too. Basically it remains. If you do the prompt, Rayman leads throughout the rest of the games. If you don't do the problem, the sequels follow the story of Rayman's son. It all intertwines quite nicely actually. :)
