I probably won't have time to translate before Sunday. And don't expect me to translate everything anyway.

Edit : well yup what I've written previously about Mr Dark, the Teensies and Polokus is written there.
Ooh, great find! Lots of nice pictures in the article; the oven/kitchen/firey world looks great, as do the jungle and underwater scenarios. Can't wait to hear the content!

Thanks for the links Dessy!

It is confirmed to be Betilla too.

Now I remind that the E3 conference is in a very late night of a Tuesday. Damn, I have school in the morning of that day... aaaaaaack.

I read it very quickly, here is an extremely brief summary:
  • Mutiplayer but not online
  • Levels: a luxuriant jungle, a musical world, zones inspired from the Mexican Day of the Dead, places with heavy rain and others with lava
  • Gameplay: swimming, riding a mosquito while shooting
  • Plot: may explain how Mr Dark became what he is, where the Teensies come from, how the Electoons were captured, who the Bubble Dreamer, aka Polokus, actually is, how the universe it created reached a crisis and how Rayman will save it
Definitely can't wait for the release...

Cheers, that all sounds great!

Here are a few of the more interesting images from the scans. I've not bothered to try and enhance them, so they come as is:

Globox and the Teensies...and Electoons and Mr Dark...all in the same game.

Does this mean that life is finally worth living again?

Not to mention we might get a Mr Dark origin story. Again, I don't know how a prequel will explain how the Electoons were kidnapped in R1 (flash forwards maybe), but I don't care.

Polokus was called "Bubble Dreamer"? So I guessed right, when drew the teensies in bubbles a while ago? :D
The only thing I can't understand is what for did they redesign Betilla and the Livingstones. -_-" They were good as they are, especially the Livingstones.

Well, UbiArts knows that the kids who grew up playing Rayman 1 will be at least in their teens by now, so maybe they redesigned Betilla specifically for them (this forum needs a "shrug" smiley btw). The redesign of the Livingstones actually makes sense as it makes Rayman himself more unique, as the only limbless creature around.

I think any of the changes in Origins can be attributed to the artists simply wanting to do their own take on things. It's been a very long time since the first game, so I doubt that many of the artists will be concerned about being slavish to continuity.

Well they seem to be doing more of a reboot/retelling than anything. And more like the kids that grew up playing Rayman 1 or 2 when it first came out are in their late teens or twenties now, so they have to sort of retell things from the beginning, because hell if anyone new to the series is going to know or remember anything.

That's understandable. The reason I regret of that is because I have a (not introduced yet) fancharacter - a peaceful, but extremely forgetful Livingstone naturalist who exactly falls apart nearly all the time. So with the redesign, I'll now have to put an "Oldschool!" disclaimer to each fanfic he's going to appear in...
But okay, that's only a personal reason.

No, these days the portal is only updated for extremely major news. It’s in need of an overhaul but that’s for another day.
Surely this is fairly major news since it is the first Announcment to come out of Raymans world since the start of the Origins project ( except perhaps Rayman 3d). It seems like they have saved up the announcements of at least half a year into one major announcement week.

Plus the portal hasn't been updated since august the eighth 2010. This may make people who view pirate community for the first time believe it to be dormant (I almost did). Plus it is where the "current events" tab on raywiki links to.

Can I also draw your attention to my original question "is it coming out for iPad/iPhone"?

I respect your opinion but I must say I loved the redesign of both characters. But I still enjoy a lot the original ones, of course. :)

Globox's pose side to the Electoons gave me a good smile.

The red creatures do remind me Bub and Bob from Taito Corporation. I wonder if they inspired in them. :D

Indeed. Or Paper Mario's Clubbas. :)
Too bad the teensies have to run around barefoot this time...

Indeed you are right, they also look like the Clubbas, but they possess more similarities to Bub and Bob:

How about the mosquito riding shoot'em up sequence? Sounds pretty awesome, most likely inspired from the Jaguar version of Anguish Lagoon where Bzzit could shoot balls of energy with his proboscis, but it might be a bit tendentious in terms of continuity unless Origins actually introduces a new mosquito.

I also think in the same way. It has been a epic week for fans. :mryellow:

Is there anybody besides me being already saving up money for the release day? If the PC version doesn't get released I'll definitely grab the Wii version.

Oh my God. I never thought we would see Electoons again. That screenshot really drove everything home... I can’t wait to see how they handle the Electoons’ separation from the Great Protoon and the latter’s possible oneness with the Heart of the World. Perhaps the game will end with a more exciting, playable version of Rayman 1’s opening sequence, in which Rayman attempts and fails to prevent Mr Dark from defeating Betilla, stealing the Protoon and capturing the Electoons? The prospect of giving Mr Dark a backstory is an amazing one and I’m ecstatic that we’ll finally be seeing him again, but a poor explanation could diminish him – this is exactly what happened to Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter and many other great villains when their creators prequelised them. Will we see Mr Dark as a good character? Will we see his face? Will he be introduced to us as a new character and morally deteriorate into the familiar Mr Dark by the end of the game? It’s interesting that they’ll be giving us further information on the origins of the Teensies; perhaps there was some truth to the old rumour that the Teensies were the offspring of Polokus and his wife, who abandoned them due to their ugliness? The prospect of explaining Polokus is an intriguing one; I thought we were given sufficient information on him in Rayman 2, so hopefully the developers have some strong ideas up there sleeves. As long as they don’t reveal him to be a metafictional avatar of Michel Ancel or the software designer who created the Hereitscool computer...

CheatCat – don’t you dare pirate Rayman Origins. For fuck’s sake, if there’s one game we absolutely must do all we can to support, this is it. Buy it at full price and don’t be such an ingrate.

Edit: The stuff about a level inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead strongly reminds me of LittleBigPlanet. This is not a bad thing.
