Rayman Randimation IV

Well it's been a long time comin', and since Rayman Randimation 3 isn't necessarily 'new' anymore, lets keep things rolling with Rayman Randimation IV

Comin' out bloody with guns blazin'!

On to conceptual matters. First of all, this will be the last episode of Rayman Randimation under my supervision (I'm sure most of you reading that last statement are like ) so for there to be any Rayman Randimation 5 and above, someone else would have to take over. But let's stick to the matter at hand. In this collab (yes, another collab ) I will only be looking for quality work, as I will be stepping up my game as well. If your scene is not quite up to my expectations, I will be helping you out with tips and theories in general and relative to your work. If your scene surpasses my expectations, then . I will no longer be using the 0.1 second static clip at the beginning of each scene; There will be a title page lasting about 3 seconds for each scene, so make a title for your piece. If you can't think of one, just give a short description like "Rayman gets pissed and unleashes a can of whoop-ass". Scenes should be at least 10 seconds long, or coming close to that. I'm looking for one really good scene from each person rather than a bunch of 3 second scrap clips (of course you can make more than one good scene if you choose).

WHEW! ok, on to technical matters
Version: Flash 8 (unless something happens and I upgrade for some reason) so just make your .fla compatible. Someone had also mentioned 'hand drawn' animation, which is also acceptable (and would be really cool to have). If that's the case, just put the images in order in a .fla
Size: 640x480
Frame Rate: 30 FPS, the rough framerate of video (of course if you're doing something extraneous like hand drawn, you CAN use '15 fps' by having two frames for each frame)
Put some kind of personal watermark in the bottom left hand corner, I will put movie ctrl buttons in the bottom right
If you use VCam, put your whole scene in a movie clip. Last time I had trouble adding the movie ctrl buttons to a scene that used a VCam because I had to make the buttons follow the VCam.
Due Date: This is a really iffy subject, as I can never seem to predict how a collab will turn out (after all, the last one took 6 months but I was really only working for 2 of those. I was planning this to be an 'over the spring semester' kind of thing, due around end of April at the latest (that's a lot of time to make a really good scene, hinthint ) and also considering time for others to join in later.

Unfortunately, since I've only just started actual work on it, I have nothing to show yet, but will be providing updates on sketches, backgrounds, short full animated clips, etc.

Ok SO!... I haven't done much on this yet (I was working on a short clip for another collab as well as a song) but here's some sketch animation I did:

I believe somebody is using a voice clip from rayman activity center on an animation from reading on the NG forums, its good to already hear about the 4th installment in the series, unfortunately im not pro with animating, all I can assist on is voice acting, however I do own macromedia flash.
Lightning lion, would sprite animations under macromedia flash work at all for you in this collab? Or do you plan for this to just be a collab with animations drawn instead of having to use sprites?
Edit: Oh and good job on the animation as of now, can't wait to see a finished version.

I can animate pretty very well (when i actually try which is like never DX ) ......but I don't know how to use flash or anything related to it (wish i did). So sorry xD (I animate in photoshop and I wouldn't know how to go about putting together as a flash file thingy). I also suck at drawing Rayman style....... I animate anime and the last time I made a quick 15-ish minutes work of random sketch of Rayman animation someone told me it still looks anime instead:

Actually I plan this to be just drawn animation. I may need voices for another scene I make later on though, so stay tuned for that.

If you could just give me a folder with the images in order then I could put them in flash (just make sure they're edited and colored (if you choose) and everything, and if you want to add sounds then I could show you the swf (flash video clip) and you could just tell me where to add sounds. And it doesn't matter what style you use to draw with, as long as it's Rayman related; actually, it's good you have anime style because no one else does so far and it helps for variety across the whole project. So I say go for it

I'll admit the project was a bit slow the past couple weeks, but I'm whipping myself back into shape. Infact I've been working on it all day today.
As for your scene, I guess just email me with the swf attached, and be sure to put "Rayman Randimation IV" in the subject title.

I just got your swf, and here's what I think of it:

Positives
- The story moves along quickly and gets to the point without the need for a long attention span. On the last Randimation i got one comment saying it doesn't carry itself along fast enough (which I mostly disagree with) but is still an issue that doesn't need to be addressed
- Rayman's voice and the magician's voice were well played, especially the scream when rayman dies

Things to work on
- The main thing I want to address is how abruptly the clip ends with the musician and electoon asking to leave. I would like to see them trying to get out of the classroom but the door is locked and the magician starts acting creepy and... well you figure out the rest. You don't even have to add a lot; maybe just the two struggling with the door and creepy magician talk.
- The musician's voice seems to have been recorded with a really low quality mic. It kinda degrades the whole clip for me

whether or not this makes it in the final product is tentative, so i can't make any promises unless it's really good
