Rayman 2D Collaboration project 2.0

Post by metalflygon08 »

In short, this thread is to play host to every ripping of a 2D Rayman Game, weather it be from Rayman Learning games to Rayman 2 Forever, 2D Rayman Sprites go here.

If anyone still has the sprites from the 1st 2D ripping project, with permission of the original ripper, feel free to post them here as well.

Some small rule like guidelines-
-File Should be .PNG to conserve quality
-The game it is ripped from should be listed
-Please try to avoid a Black Background, as it makes it impossible to take sprites from (The sprite's outline will disappear when you try to remove the Black background)

I'll post some stuff up 1st

Mainly from Rayman Designer

Some general stuff found in VRAM like the medallion, rising water, clouds, explosions, and dancing flowers.

Hi, this is a really cool project. So I would like to ask: if it's a requirement to save image files as PNGs, would it not be wiser to use transparent backgrounds on the way? :)

It'd be safer as a PNG because most transparent sheets can lose some color quality when uploaded, Sabertooth's rip of Rayman 3 GBA is proof of that, most of the color depth and shade is gone.

A PNG for backup with a Transparent for show would be ideal overall.

Hmm, I don't remember ever encountering Stonemen or Moskito in Rayman GBC. Where did those sprites come from? Or were they fan-made?

Shouldn't we keep this to official material only?

it's not even a complete ripp yet, it's progress so the file doesn't even cont outside of showing what I'm currently ripping so far, when I finish an entire section it's coming up as it's own file, but it's rude to just say I'm ripping Rayman GBC without any show, eventually when entire sheets are complete each sprite will have links ala Spriter's Resource style.

What about ripping the levels, like here:

http://www.rayman-fanpage.de/character1 ... jungle.htm

Only then in a higher quality, and larger. How easy would that be?

Shouldn't be too hard, though very time consuming, the easier way would be to get large versions of the maps and use the rayman designer blocks to rebuild them, because the levels all use tiles, so it would take a long time to get each tile seperated and worked out to mirror the level.

Yeah, but seeing as that site has all of those maps, I wonder whether there ain't an easier way...? He also has cages on them, which is impossible with Rayman Designer.

Thou art incorrect. In the past four years we've found an incredible amount of content that never made it into the final release of Designer but is still useable by scavenging through clumps of code here and there. Cages, electoons and the medallion are among some of them.

Yeah, via that modified one. But I think Rayman Fanpage had those pictures a lot longer than 4 years, ergo, before Rayman Designer was hacked, and consequently, before we could add cages.

Unless he hacked it himself...?

Rayman only from side without punching and helicoptering sprites from Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge.

Managed to get the sprites that I ripped myself from the old topic back then.
EDIT: Found some un-needed sprites and stuff, fixed it.

Why is no one making their images transparent? There's no reason not to make them so, and every reason to do so.

Some people use MSPaint, and it doesn't support Transparency, and actually causes issues when you copy a transparent image from the web to paint, and if you use iaza to transparent it, color quality is lost.

So why should it limit the people who can make transparent images, to making non-transparent? I don't see the logic in that. PNGs do not lose quality as far as I know.
