The word 'derp' has kind of gained multiple different meanings over the days, to the point where many people have started to, for some reason, associate it with an insulting word for being 'mentally challenged', although this isn't really true. Most people associate it with what THEdragon said.
If I'm correct, I believe the word originated on South Park, as a comical way of saying 'Duh, I'm an idiot', as in 'Derp! I did it again' :fou2:

Also, thanks for the translation!

Hey, what if there would be new educational Rayman games (made by other studios than Montpellier, so they wouldnt bother development of new main games), but in Origins/Legends style? XD Including of course one game like Premiers Clics. :hinhinhin: That would be TWISTED!

Im mostly kidding but i also would like see your opinions about that. XD

EPIC MONTH OLD THREAD BUMP!

I hadn't actually noticed the last two posts on this thread until now :P. Funny, I've often imagined a sequel to Rayman Junior in an Origins style :mryellow:

However the real reason I bumped this was because I've found a second computer that runs the game!

The Bad News -

- It's a slow computer, meaning it won't be any good for non capture card based recording software, and even if it was, seeing as it runs Windows 98 and has no CD/DVD writer - I'd have no way of getting the recorded videos off anyway!

The Good News -

- It's less bloated with random software then the Packard Bell is, which could come in some use

I was showing my brother some of Rayman CP last night on it, and he was astounded by the amounts of rare Rayman art found within. Seriously, if I could find a way of getting files off the computer, I could be the next Britta ;). I seriously hope that some day I'll be able to share my experience with you all, but at least I still have a soundtrack to contend with...

EDIT: Also I seemed to have annoyingly found a song that I haven't ripped involving Rayman skiing. I've never even seen it before! I guess this game always is full of surprises :P

The first thing I heard upon entering the room after my brother turned the game on was Rayman talking in French about Betilla's magic baguette while on the start screen. I wasn't expecting that! =P

Good luck with that. :)

Sadly Rayman CP is difficult to find in eBay.

Yes, we're both trying to keep this project alive!

The two ideas we have so far are:

- Install a virtual Windows via DOSbox and see if it works any better then other virtual machines (highly doubtful!)
- Research and invest in a capture card that is correct for the job

Hey, at least we still have ideas! In the meanwhile, some more teasers about the game as it randomly comes to my mind :

- Postcards from Rayman's World
- The female friendly notes (the ones that you make by punching the wrong notes back at Mr. Sax) have a surprisingly large role
- There's a weird beta version of a certain activity from Rayman Activity, with a different setting
- Rayman with a chef's hat
- A poem that may or may not involve The Magician fixing a giant pocket watch (giant pocket? Epic oxymoron)
- Rayman is good at the piano...but only when he wants to be....
- The Clown is totally mad. Seriously!
- Betilla the Fairy running a bakery stand. What is it with with Betilla and baked goods in this game?
- I guess it is this game where Rayman finally learns to swim (or at least touch water without drowning). Must be getting prepped up for Rayman 2 ;)

The Magician fixing a giant pocket-watch? Heheheh, I have a fancharacter who can fix watches.

Man, when vids of this are up, I am totally gonna tear it to pieces with my analyses.

Sadly DOSbox can't work with CDs while emulating Windows, so that's that idea out of the....window. We've got one more virtual machine program to try out, and then it's capture card time (umm...take 2)!

So I'll take it we'll be seeing art of The Magician and Sideways working together in the near future
Also, the correct way of fixing pocket watches is with butter

Of all the crazy, illogical and nonsensical things in the Rayman 1 world...

Fixing a pocket watch with butter doesn't really surprise me as much as my reply implied. :fou2:

EXTREMELY EPIC BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT BUMP! (apologies anyway - I hate bumping)

Good news everybody! Within the last couple of days, my brother was able to build the Windows 98 machine. It runs not only Rayman CP perfectly, but also the recording software needed to get footage of it, which it can successfully do without the need to worry about capture card drivers.

In other words, everything is ready to go - so expect the play-through to be coming soon!

(I did promise I wouldn't abandon hope on this project :))

Knowing my luck, this post is probably full of spelling and grammar errors. I shouldn't post at 7:35am, and will now regret it later =P

Great news, Electoon! :D I'll be looking forward to watch it.

Could you give me the playlist link of the previous educational Rayman game you've played? I want to add it to the walkthroughs topic. :)

I started recording yesterday, although it will be a while before I can edit the raw footage and put it up on YouTube, as I'm going to have to burn video batches onto CDs (the joys of pre-USB drive edays....). Considering Rayman CP itself is two disks full of content, I image it's going to take quite a few disks to get it all across Everyone can be rest assured that I now have video footage of magic baguettes though :).

There is some fantastic HD versions of Rayman 1 art in the games as well, which I hope to get screenshots of, maybe for Raywiki.

But in all seriousness, I am really looking forward to some of that gorgeous unseen R1 era art! :D

Update - Managed to fill the whole (tiny) hard-drive with video footage last week (not even done with the first CD of content yet!) and the drive has already been removed from the 98 machine in prep for moving the footage over to Windows 7. Although I still have a lot of editing on them to do before they're suitable for viewing, I hope to get started this weekend :D

Off-topic: Black Betty is currently playing on the radio and I can't stop thinking about Rayman legends....:P
