Re: Rayman Legends
For me the reason why i like the series is the great characters and world combined with good stories and gameplay that doesn’t repeat itself. I prefer Rayman in 3D. In my opinion with RO and RL they were thinking more the new fans than the old ones. This new crazy 2D style is good but the old style is the best. It has less humor and wackiness but still awensome humor (which i think is even better) and the old style also focuses much more on the story and the gameplay is less repetitive. In my opinion the crazy 2D games are too crazy. These wacky 2D Rayman games are good, but its not time for more of these games. RO has been released and RL is coming, but for a third game like that in 2013 i say definitely not, they should make that later. A big 3D adventure of this generation still lacks from the series, a game that continues the era and style which ended after R3. That’s what many old fans are expecting and Ubi needs to think them too.
Like I have said I would love a big 3D adventure whether its gonna be the original R4 or a completely new R4 with new enemies and stuff. If the original prototype rabbits are not gonna return I still hope that the gameplay of the original R4 is going to be in the new one too. Taking control of enemies, massive battles, free roaming, riding big creatures etc. plus all new gameplay elements.

Wii U 's presentation already begun:

For those who don't have time to watch it, I'll explain it to you later.

Re: Rayman Legends
Well. What i was talking about Robotic is that Ubisoft already used "familiar" stuff with worldwide places in RRR (even if u don't consider it as a part of Rayman games I totally understand you
). Once is enough and they used it again. Using familiar references especially from the world's history quickly becomes a bad idea because there is no new stuff for me. Indeed, they rework it to make it more wonderful funny and colourful, but it is STILL stuff from our history. I don't want to say that is bad to use it in games but in a plateforme game like Rayman using it once is enough and more nonsense.
Because this game is based on imagination. I know this is not the aim of Raving Rabbids but why use greek Ruins or a kind of castles that even a 3 year-old child can identify as a castle ?

Nice comment Mammoth. I prefer well-placed humour in a dark, mysterious atmosphere who lasts almost all a game than a game full of humour. Allowing me to use the next sentence : "Too much humour KILLS humour"Mammothphant 2 wrote:This new crazy 2D style is good but the old style is the best. EDIT -> I thought the star constellation in the Greek world was a nice touch, until I noticed it was a pig from Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Re: Rayman Legends
Those music levels remind me of those Super Mario world hacks where it plays on its own in time to some batshit happy hardcore type music. I forget what they're called but if you saw it you'd know what I mean.
Re: Rayman Legends
I only caught the first thirty minutes, after I had to go out, but it was enough to see the Rayman Legends interview.
I must say this Nintendo Direct was being more interesting than what I've got told from the E3 2012!

Ok, here's the resumen of the Wii U conference:
-Consoles and game at launch November 18 (USA).
-You can purchase Wii U games like NSMB U and Nintendo Land physically or virtually on the eshop.
-Two different kinds of Wii U game consoles, the colour of the consoles indicates different features:
Basic Set

1. Includes gamepad
2. 8 GB of internal storage
3. AC adapters
4. All of the components are white
5. Price: $299.99
6. Ideal for casual gamers and non-regular costumers.
Deluxe Set

1. Includes gamepad
2. 32 GB of internal storage
3. AC adapters
4. Completely black
5. Price $349.99
6. For each game you purchase online, you gain some points back. The amount of points depends on the publisher. The promotion ends in 2014.
7. Includes Nintendo Land (woooooh!)
-Bayonetta 2 , developed by Platinum Games is confirmed as a Wii U exclusive.
-Project P-100 renamed as The Wonderful 101
-Game and Wario turns it's tentative title into the final title.
-Nintendo Land attraction Metroid Blast shown on stage
-Call of Duty Black Ops II, by Activision, confirmed for Wii U. Shown on stage. Instead of split screen, each player has his/her own screen (TV and Gamepad). Doesn't require gimmicks to play. Also Skylanders Giants, 007 Legends and Transformers Prime were confirmed for Wii U.
-Epic Mickey 2 confirmed for Wii U (to the date it was only confirmed on Wii)
-NSMB U confirmed to have "Missions" between levels. Some of them involve beating strict time attacks or playing a full level without touching the ground and just by jumping on koopas. (would be pretty interesting to see that sort of things in Rayman Legends!)
-Box arts of NSMB U and Nintendo Land

Re: Rayman Legends
Sergio, I can correct that the European release date is 30th November.
But anyway, the consoles are quite expensive.

I understand that the black one is quite expensive because it includes a game and a shitload of memory... but why is the white one so expensive?

Hahaha true. I'm not against those pigs, tho... they were pretty funny. The only problem with them is that during that game, they were depicted as Rayman's only friends
Re: Rayman Legends
350€ is a lot, but damn a lot.
Hopefully in two years it can low down at least 50€.

Re: Rayman Legends
Ok, I'm going to admit...that I did kinda like that Castle Rock trailer, though in retrospect, I was in a giddy mood so perhaps I should review it with better clarity.
There is a reason why Rayman 2 is the favourite of the series for most fans, sure it was fun, but it was also pretty engrossing. Indeed, it may not have as deep a story as some other "epics" but it certainly had its own atmosphere, its own charm, its own...allure.
Of all the four Rayman games, I've replayed Rayman 2 the most, and I still do to this day.
In retrospect, I haven't really come back to RO in the same volume ever since I beat it for the first time, and yet I've owned it for a good while now.
The question is, why? Why do I feel compelled to replay a game that is over a decade old and I've played to heck, and not one that I've only experienced wholly once?
The problem with RO is that it's too much of a dash-fest, like Droolie said, it lacks atmosphere, it's too zany and it never really takes a breather to let you soak the world in. In comparison, Rayman 1 did a good job of making even some of the more ordinary settings (such as The Dream Forest and Blue Mountains), seem other-worldly, the ambience, mixed in with this:

It gave a good atmosphere, and it's very tempting to just stand about and take it in, an opportunity rarely presented in Origins.
I know I constantly reiterate the atmosphere, but that's because it's what made the "magic" of the games work, even Rayman 3 had its moments, where there was little dialogue, and you could just stand there, with relevant music playing in the background, an example of this would be the beginning of the second level of the Summit Beyond the Clouds, the music starts, the small cutscene plays, and you just jump in. That level remains my favourite, potentially because you're not being accompanied by anyone and you're alone, free to experience every moment yourself.
Any game can be fun, Mario is fun, Half Life is fun, the list goes on. Do you honestly think we became Rayman fans solely because of the "fun" factor?MasterHero wrote:Rayman is about Fun not about Epic.
If you can a epic game play BGE....
(almost everybody on this forum seems to have forget that).
It will come for the other consoles (and PC maybe), just some time later...

Re: Rayman Legends
Gotta get Wii U at launch now. The news are great (Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive, Nintendo Land is bundled with the black version etc.). And the Greece level looks really cool. And guys, the pig is not a RRR one, just a flying pig guy in the sky. And since then do you hate RRR for everything?

It's no more expensive than the GameCube and Wii, which both also sold for $300 on release.Haruka wrote:But anyway, the consoles are quite expensive.
I'll be getting the hardcore version because it's black, and it comes with Bayonetta 2. \o/
Er, you may have been confused by the currency. The prices were listed in dollars, not euros. $300 = €230; $350 = €270.Haruka wrote:350€ is a lot, but damn a lot.

Re: Rayman Legends
I'm not gonna lie... Wii U is constantly critiziced because of it's gimmicks and because it's Nintendo, but Wii U does actually have some really awesome exclusive titles. The only casual games I've seen so far are Wii Fit U and Nintendo Land... and Nintendo Land is basically designed to attract the casual audience into Nintendo's core games like Metroid and Zelda, so I don't see what's the big deal.MyBodyIsReady wrote:That's the spirit. The problem right now might be the pricing. The white Wii U 's price is a total scam, it has a poor memory and doesn't include any game, in comparison to the black one which costs $50 more. I'm getting the black one, it has more benefits.
Yes it is. Which other pig do you think has a nose like that?MyBodyIsReady wrote:And guys, the pig is not a RRR one, just a flying pig guy in the sky.

Re: Rayman Legends
How the fuck is its price a scam? The N64, GameCube and Wii all cost $300 on release, as does the WiiU. That's cheaper than both Microsoft's and Sony's release prices by quite a lot. Have all of you missed the fact that it was written in dollars, not euros/pounds?

Re: Rayman Legends
Did they perhaps tell us what the suggested retail-price of the games would be?
I'm assuming $60.
